Why I'm Voting Democrat

I'm voting Democrat because FEAR MONGERING doesn't work on me!:cool2:

Why am I voting Democrat? Because Sarah Palin isn't fit to run an old west brothel, let alone the most powerful country in the world. Voting Republican would put that low-class piece of trash too close to power.

Dawn, anyone who posts so singlemindedly about the same topic are typically trying do one of two things: 1.) You are making an honest attempt at trying to change others' minds or 2.) You're doing your best to irritate and anger those that don't agree with you.

My thoughts on the above are that it's very clear that the same posters don't and won't agree with you politically and minds won't be changed. You're a smart lady, so you must know that by now. So that leaves me with your desire to stir the pot and anger other posters. If that's not the case, then why do you do this every day?

The majority of evil Democrats and wicked Republicans don't post on the majority of political threads here on the DIS. I tend to think it's because most are getting tired of the bickering and infighting over grossly trivial issues. I honestly pass over the majority of these threads unless someone else sends me a link or the title is catchy/amusing. Those that do (on both sides) usually do so to repute another's inflammatory thread or comment when it's very clear that the original intent was to goad the opposing side. I'm as guilty as anyone in jumping into the frey and defending my own political views from time to time.

Even if I tend to disagree with the poster on many, many occasions I'm still capable of understanding their position to a degree. I'd like to think I'm able to think objectively on most issues. But when I see threads like this, any level of validity or credibility I might have had for the poster just go flying out the window. So it's beyond me why someone with the hope of changing another's mind or viewpoint, damages that attempt by intentionally angering others.

Now, if your rationale is going to be that it's supposed to be humor, I'll say once again that you're a smart lady and you know exactly how it would come across so that excuse is merely that... an excuse.

I Agree Again ! Your right !! Thanks.....

Rick, if you're going to chastise Dawn for her posts, why not go onto all of the other political threads and chastise others for stirring the pot with their comments? Or, like me, do you see who is posting Barry-friendly threads and just ignore them because their's is the same banter day after day?

"because I feel I just don't deserve health insurance"

You don't "deserve" health insurance. Nobody does. It is not a guaranteed right of all humanity. Doctors do not have to charge for services, or they could accept chickens or pigs in exchange for services. Nowhere in the constitution is it required that insurance companies shell out and lose money so that all citizens can have low cost (or free!) health coverage. Over the course of human history, 99.9% of all living humans have never had health insurance.

It's a nice idea - if it could work - but it is by no means "deserved" just because you were born or are still alive. :sad2:

If we all really wanted change we'd stop allowing a flawed two party system to tell us what to believe and vote for and we'd all start thinking for ourselves and force the politicians to follow our lead... :rolleyes1

Vote independent. Bring on the Moderate Party. Our logo animal can be a chimera, perhaps. :thumbsup2

do a search of my posts and you'll see I did so yesterday. thanks.

ETA: And although I did initially direct my comments Dawn, it was directed at quite a few folks on both sides.

Yes, yes and yes! Very well said. I wish we could have an honest discussion of the issues instead of these pointless threads that serve no purpose but to infuriate the opposing side. I'm going out on a limb here, but perhaps if we engaged in talking about issues that affect all of us, we might actually learn something from one another. I learned quickly though that if I want to have civil, intellectual debates, I am not going to find it here.

I'm voting Democrat because I have decided that option is the most in line with my beliefs. It's not a 100% fit, nor is it probably a 75% fit, but it is my decision and it is an informed one.

I do not appreciate anyone's pathetic attempts to shine a light on their better American-ness because they have a different idea of what is the better road to take. We all want what's best for the country, we just have very different ideas on which road to travel on. I also don't see the need to belittle or mock my voting decision because you don't agree with me. I also don't think the world is simple enough to neatly tie all voters into 2 little boxes with red or blue wrapping paper, or with not so clever little statements like the OP.

In all fairness, because I also posted this in the repeat thread:

I found it quite humorous. :confused3
You know the old saying "Many a truth is said in jest."

I suspect, based upon posts in the past, that you would strongly agree with me if this thread were "Why I choose to vote Republican" and it contained ridiculous statements.

Had to be said. Thank you, Rick :goodvibes

.....why do you do this every day?
I think they have to.

I've worked with enough NeoCons, both now and in the past, to know that this behavior seems to be SOP with them. It's like every day they have to find one thing...one headline, one joke, one Drudge Report story....SOMETHING. Then they jump on it first thing in the morning, email it out to friends, family and coworkers, bring it up as soon as another person walks through the door, try to keep everyone talking about it, etc, etc, etc.

It makes me wonder if this tactic isn't in the secret NeoCon handbook.

Have to tell you Carly, that there are Democrat posters that are just as guilty.

I would have just skipped over it just like so many of the McCain/Palin/conservative bashing threads that I have passed over already. :confused3

I see. But you'll read and post on Democrat bashing threads. Completely understand.
