Why I love BLT

they won't allow conventions to stay in a DVC resort - that was promised back in 1992 when it was just DVC (OKW).

so would not even worry about the conventions.

I am referring to CR.

My main BLT/CR complaint is all the non Disney guests. CR is a major convention hotel. ...I am referring to CR.

Then you have the same problem at YC, BC/BCV, BWI/BWV, GF/GFV. Most of the deluxe resorts have a convention center included with the resort.

I haven't found conventions to be a big problem. Most of those guests will visit the parks in the evening. Just during the day they are a little more dressed up (business casual vs theme park dress). Maybe trying to get into the Pepper Market at CSR during the convention lunch break.

I see the concern about conventioneers on various threads here and I'm a bit puzzled by it. Is it an issue with behavior of attendees? Is it because they are dressed for work rather than vacation? I'm pretty sure there's not a soul here who wouldn't love to "be required" to attend a convention at WDW.:confused3

my ex-boss use to go to convention - think they went 3 times to WDW - he say it was awfully to go to the darn convention - when what he wanted to do was the parks...

Its not that big a deal. It just that when I'm on on vacation (WDW), I don't want to see people in suits with breafcases and name tags standing in line next to me. We were on the ME with a few of them last week. They never stopped the business talk all the way to the airport. Again not a big deal. But I want to see shorts and sandals when I'm on vacation.

I had one convention at WDW and it was during the summer, so my husband and son got to go along. I sat in meetings during the day and played at night with the two of them. They had a blast doing things they hadn't done before, like renting bicycles at the resort and riding around. I drove to CSR every morning, met up with my friends who were also there (and I seldom get to see) and had a good time with them. It was kind of the best of both worlds.

I'm often one of those evil "Conventioneers". And happy to offend I guess. :stir:

OP - You are getting me so ready for our first BLT stay this July.:cool1:

We stayed at WL 5 years ago, and I love heading to MK every night to soak in the atmosphere.

Can't wait.

Agree that Bay Lake Tower is great! Stayed there this Christmas and you can't beat the walk to the Magic Kingdom- so great! Also we had a north facing lake view room and watching wishes from the balcony was awesome. Looking forward to the next time I get to stay there again.

I can't wait to go home in June. Thanks for reminding me of why I like BLT.
