Why I like Karl Rove.

From the article you linked to;

"Siegelman was later indicted on 32 counts of corruption, convicted on seven of them, and is currently serving an 88-month sentence in Federal prison.

And again, the connection is no more than hearsay; from the link you provided.

If Simpson's version of events is accurate, it would show direct political involvement by the White House in federal prosecutions — a charge leveled by Administration critics in connection with the U.S. attorney scandal that led to the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. But her account is disputed; those who she alleges told her about Rove's involvement during a G.O.P. campaign conference call claim that no such conversation took place. Rove himself has not responded to Simpson's allegations, which are clearly based on second-hand information, and the White House has refused to comment while Siegelman's case remains on appeal.

So it appears that there was enough evidence against Siegelman for a conviction, and the veracity of Simpson is in question. If Rove sold his "sole", it must have been to Rham Emmanual who sent the dead fish to the pollster who "displeased" him.
Sorry, but I seem to forget that everyone isn't engrossed in this Alabama political scandal as we here around the Montgomery area are. . .

Siegelman was indicted on 32 counts of corruption, convicted on seven of them, and WAS serving an 88-month sentence in Federal prison. After further investigation by the courts into the Republican corruption behind this case, Gov. Siegelman was released this past March.

Simpson's dispute was only discounted by KARL ROVE, she testified before the Alabama judicial system and was found to be a credible witness and thus helping to play a part in Gov. Siegelman's release from prison. And I can assure you that Rham Emmanuel has nothing to do with this horrid case.

I know the Siegelmans on a personal basis - he, his wife, their son and daughter. They are fine upstanding people who served the great state of Alabama with honor. Gov. Siegelman has been railroaded by Karl Rove and the Republican party. His defense team is mounting a strong legal case against Karl Rove and I'm sure they won't be moving on it until after January 20. If they moved on it before then and got an acutal indictment or conviction it would have been pardoned.

Aside from the fact that he ditched subpoenas, I did like how he came out against McCain/Palin, when the campaign got to that super ugly racist, fear mongering, hateful, place when people were shouting kill Obama and he's an Arab and all that. But that's about all I'll give him. :rolleyes1

That's ridiculous and you know it. McCain/Palin didn't say any such thing. As a matter of fact, McCain refused to bring up Reverend Wright in the campaing which in MY opinion was fair game. And I'm not racist, so don't even try to use that one.

I'm referring to racism and fear against middle easterners, which was inferred throughout his campaign and that poor woman calling him of all things, OMG an ARAB, not even explaining that there is nothing wrong with being an Arab either. I think even McCain started getting shook up over it. Man you really hit rock bottom when even Rove goes gainst you. And just for the record, I heard Rove say it out of his own mouth, and other republicans, they didn't like how ugly it started to go, so you say its ridiculous, tell them that. I honestly never heard Palin say anything else other than that. Its a shame bc I liked that a woman was running even tho I didn't support her ideas. She inferred he was a terrorist, hung around with terrorists, etc. etc.

Oh, who is being ridiculous now? You don't think that Sarah Palin and all of her Bill Ayers talk wasn't pandering to the super ugly racist, fear mongering, hateful sect out there? Sure they were denouncing some of the crazies, like the strange woman at the political rally that made the Arab statment. But to think that the McCain/Palin political machine wasn't hoping for the vote of those out there on the right wing crazy fringe, is well, naive.

Boy o boy, you said a mouthful there. I went to the 2 Palin rallies in PA. Let me tell you they were not screaming "Terrorist" and "Muslim" and "kill him" because they wanted warm and fussy feelings. My girlfriend and I (3 African american middle age women) high tailed it out of there real quick. Believe me, I firmly believe that the only reason the N word was not used was because the cameras were there. Ms. Palin smiled through the entire thing.

I think Rove is really good at what he does. I wonder why he didn't do more to help McCain win?
Rove did eveything that he could. Rove was an advisor for the McCain campaign and a Rove protégé ran the McCain campaign. It was so very sad that McCain ended up using and relying on the exact same people who slimed him in 2000 in South Carolina

The Senate Judiciary Committe's majority report identifies Rove as one of the persons who drew up the list of US Attorneys to fire illegally. http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/11/new_senate_report_on_us_attorn.php
The evidence...shows that the list for firings was compiled with participation from the highest political ranks in the White House, including former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove.

The evidence shows that senior officials were focused on the political impact of Federal prosecutions and whether Federal prosecutors were doing enough to bring partisan voter fraud and corruption cases. It is now apparent that the reasons given for these firings, including those reasons provided in sworn testimony by the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General, were contrived as part of a cover-up.

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2: Disgusting. I don't know how people can defend this and sleep at night.

So what difference does it make that the quote is at the end of the clip? Why should it be in any part of the clip? A candidate, ridiculing a private citizen in the process of ridiculing a tax plan, doesn't make it any better. It is what it is.

Obama didn't do this and if you listen to the clip, you would see this.

Palin is scary! :scared:

Every time I read the title of this thread, I :rotfl2: It's got :stir: written all over it!

I do not condone use of illegal drugs, but I think if some individuals would stop :stir: and start smoking the pot, we would all be alot happier.:lmao:

Uhhhh, it doesn't make any difference that the quote is at the end of the particular clip I posted. I said that to make it easier to find. The point that you are of course completely ignoring is that Obama wasn't ridiculing Joe the Plumber at all, he was ridiculing McCain pretending to be supporting Joe the Plumber while proposing a tax plan that overwhelmingly benefitted the wealthy.

In fact, go back and look at the clip you posted. Even in that edited clip there is nothing that names Joe the Plumber or ridicules anything Joe the Plumber said. The only thing linking it to JTP is the headline that the guy who edited the clip threw on it. Honestly, Dawn, I don't know if I should be scared that there are intelligent people like you who believe junk like this, or annoyed that you are just throwing junk out there that you don't believe in.

The only way that the Court of Appeals would have released Gov. Seigelman during the appeal would be a determination by the Court of Appeals that it was very likely that the convictions against Gov. Siegelman would be overturned. There were some games played in delaying the Court of Appeals from seeing the trial record and transcript but once the Court saw these documents, Gov. Siegelman was ordered released even though his appeal is still pending. The case against Gov. Siegelman is bogus and Rove is ducking questions and subpoenas on this case.

Once bush is out of office, the DOJ will be able to start enforcing the law on civil contempt and rove will no longer be able to dodge these subpoenas.

I wouldn't count on that. Now that he works for Rupert, he can claim the "press shield."

In 2004 I thought the republician were down right unscrupulous on how they attacked John Kerry (even though I was not a John Kerry supporter) and his wife, they say what goes around comes around. The republician party looked it square in the face this election.

While I did not support Obama I'm supported him 100%. It's time we stop finding fault with everything Our President says and does, and help to make Our Country a better place. We need to root out corruption in our bussiness world or we are no better then some of these countries where corruption is a daily affair.

As BO say We are the United States of America, a country to be proud of. This president might just do that with our help

Mamu, this is the most intelligent thing on this topic. :flower3: We Americans have the RIGHT to say whatever we wish but we have the RESPONSIBILITY to be a part of a society which works together.

We keep feeding the OP when we get in squabbles such as this. :confused3

What press shield? Judith Miller went to jail until she agreed to answer question on the Plame investigation. There is no press shield here and working for Faux news will not save Rove from his fate.

The only reason that rove has not been put in jail is that the bush white house has illegallly violated the law that requires the US Attorney for DC to take contempt of Congress charges before a grand jury. That policy is illegal and will not be continued when the US has a real attorney general who follows the law. Rove will be testifying before Congress sometime next year or Rove will be spending some time in jail.

BTW, a pardon does not work either. Congress wants and deserves answers and a pardon by bush will not help Rove evade having to testify before Congress over Siegelman and the US Attorney scandal.

I agree. Come January they will be going full force against Rove.
