Why I like Karl Rove.

What I find as curious, in fact, perhaps hypocritical, is that there is all of this feigned outrage on behalf of John McCain, a candidate and a public figure, and yet you seemed absolutely okay with the public skewering of Joe the Plumber, a private citizen. In fact, it wasn't an Obama campaign worker that ridiculed him, but Obama himself. The state of Ohio dug into his private records, but that didn't seem to bother you either.

I'm 50/50 on ole Joe. I didn't like the fact that they dug into his private records and I don't remember any one saying that was ok, but Joe was hardly a "victim" in all of this. He grabbed his 5 minutes of fame by going on every available talk show that he could and like every other "celebrity" the lights got very bright, very quickly.

Also one of the reasons "Joe" fell so hard was that McCain made it a point to hold him up as a poster child in his debate. Didn't he refrence Joe a ridiculous number of times. I wasn't surprise some enterprising individual did a little investigating. The very next day in the Philly Inquirer it was out that "Joe" wasn't a plumber, was no where near buying his own business, and had owed back taxes. It was more of a "egg in your face" to McCain.

I really liked it when he went on tape saying a vote for Obama was a "vote for the death of Israel." :sad2: That was grossly irresponsible. I could have kissed Sheppard Smith of FOX (won't hear me saying that often :rotfl: ) when he challenged JTP for that comment. :lmao:

How many plumbers do you know Dawn that make $250,000? Wow, I guess the President elect was really cruel to JTP or Sam or whatever his name is.

Plus really your example of Karl vs. JTP is apples to oranges.

There are certainly some plumbing contracting companies that make $250K, and I guess it was just so presumptuous of JTP to aspire to making a lot of money some day! Shame on him!

Maybe Obama mocked him because

1) Turns out he's not really a licensed plumber

2) Turns out he actually OWES back taxes to the state of Ohio

3) Wurzelbacher admitted to reporters that the goal of buying the business was more aspirational than firm. He said his income was "not even close" to levels at which Obama's tax increases would kick in. His employer consists of two full-time employees: himself and the owner, Al Newell. That suggests that when Wurzelbacher told Obama that the company "makes $250,000 to $280,000 a year," he probably was talking about gross receipts rather than net income. So the tax increase would very likely NOT apply to him.

I'm not saying that public mockery is commendable, but Obama's original encounter with JTP is what lead to all the "Spread the Wealth" OMG HE IS A SOCIALIST!?!?! rumors that spread like a bad rash and got all the Republicans panties in a wad. :sad2: It's not like Obama didn't suffer repercussions from that encounter.

It bothered the ACLU, but I guess they don't count. http://blog.cleveland.com/letters/2008/10/government_snoops_have_no_righ.html

As for me, I don't have the problem with the press or anyone else going into public records. Private records, yes - I have a problem with that.

As for Rove, he learned at the feet of Lee Atwater. I just saw the Frontline special on Lee, lets just say it explains a lot.

THAT is not what I asked. I didn't ask if a plumbing contracting company can make $250K, I asked if an individual plumber can. But again you twist words because you like to :stir: when it comes to anything with Obama. It is crystal clear JTP, or Sam, was lying when he said he was in a position to buy that company. That is over and out, exhausted, talked about to death. Why can't you let that go?

Also, the election is over, he won, and will be your president, like it or not. When you compare JTP to Rove, it is like comparing apples to oranges.

Gee, I wonder why the first part of what Obama said was edited out? Look at the whole thing--he clearly wasn't ridiculing Joe the Plumber, he was ridiculing McCain's tax plans.

Thanks for sharing the link. Gee I wonder why this wasn't given in it's entirety?Maybe because it would show that Obama didn't slam JTP at all. Another twist and turn from someone who likes to mix it up and not give any credit where credit is due. Why shouldn't I be surprised?

He's Loyal you say?

On May 22, 2008, Rove was subpoenaed by House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers to testify on the politization of the Department of Justice. However, on July 10, Rove refused to acknowledge his congressional subpoena. Instead, he left the country on an unannounced trip.

And last I heard, he still hasn't testified. Wonder what will happen January 20th? Pardon anyone?

You all should watch the frontline episode on lee atwater, and you will see what karma gets you....Karl Rove is the lowest form of person involved in politics. Luckily he will have to answer for his sins some day.

Loyalty you say?.....Rove learned under his hero Lee Atwater, ask Ed Rollins how "loyal" he was

Whoops.

Rove may be good for some republicans. But he and his kind (on both sides) are bad for the US.
