Why I have been gone....

OK...I didn't plan on crying so early in the day...but it's a good cry tho!! You guys understanding and showing me the support you do/have....you'll never know just how much that means!!!!:goodvibes:hug: Even if someone has their family and friends, sometimes it's nice to be surrounded by another set of "family and friends"!!! Thanks again soooo much...ALL of YOU!!!

Terri,

I am so sorry that you are having such a rough time right now. Depression is a very difficult disease. I hope that you will be feeling better soon.:hippie:
:hug::hug:
Thank you!!!:goodvibes

Hi Terri,

I too have been diagnosed with depression. Mine started when I was a teenager. I know the feeling of despair. I have had many days when it was all I could do to get out of bed. Sometimes I did not even do that. I finally got to the point where I had to do something after my DD was born. I have been on a couple different meds. So if one didn't work please think about trying others. I also have just recently been having anxiety. I have had a few panic attacks. I also had to take a break from the boards to work on me. I guess I am telling you all this so you don't feel all alone. I am right there fighting everyday too.
I have a thing about pills: I HATE taking them!!! LOL!!! But..seriously, my family has addiction problems with meds/alcohol/drugs and sometimes it scares me because I don't want to become dependent on them. I know that sounds stupid, but if I do find something, I will give it a try!!:thumbsup2 Thanks for the advice and understanding...you hang in there too!!! Maybe one day...we could lay in bed and talk on the phone, DIS together, or something!!!:goodvibes

Hang in there Terri! I'm just down Airport Highway from you and I know all about that seasonal stuff when you live here. And, really, lately, Toledo is not a really happy place these days, so that doesn't help.

If the weather gets a bit nicer, can you get out to one of the metroparks for awhile? Just to walk around and take it in? I really like Oak Openings when it isn't too cold and wet.

Hugs to you!:grouphug:
OH MAN!!! Is this ever nice to know or have someone, from my area and knows what's going on here!!LMAO!! Doesn't it absolutely blow around here?!?! UUUGGGHHH!!! I don't know how old you are, what you do, etc., but maybe we could have lunch or something together one day???:goodvibes:hug:

Pixie dust and happy thoughts for all who have the blues. We are here for you!
Thank you!!:cutie:

I'm really glad you went ahead and openly posted this. It's a good sign! Getting stuff out there in the open is the best thing you can do for yourself, be it crying or writing or whatever it is you need to do. Like you said, family and friends are the most important thing you can have, especially when you're going through such times. (I've been there, and I'm not just saying this to say it) Keep them close, and let them know how you feel. They're there for your support!<3
I do and I will!! Thanks for your understanding and support!!

Sending good thoughts your way. I think the fact that you can share your feelings is a good thing. I have a son who has alot of behavior problems. I was always embarassed to tell anyone the things that went on, but when I started to talk about it with friends and co-workers it made it alot easier to get thru the day.
Well...I hope things are/will get better for you as well!!! Thanks for the good wishes and thoughts!!

I hope you feel better soon!:thumbsup2
Thanks!! Now..if I could just figure out how to make the sun shine around here all the time.......:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

This is by no means a replacement for medication that may help your situation, but you might want to consider taking a Vitamin D3 supplement if you continue to find the episodes you're having might be triggered by lack of sunlight.

I live in the Pacific Northwest where we have months with very little sunshine and my doctor recommended 2000 IU's per day. There are many in the health profession that feel Vitamin D3 also plays a really important part with the immune system and it may help anyone exposed to H1N1.

I understand your reluctance to be medicated, but perhaps there are some small steps you can take on your own that might help. However, you really should talk to your doctor about trying other antidepressants as there are so many to choose from now that I feel there must be something that will help you...it might just take a little tweaking.

In the meantime, hang in there and spend as much time as you can with your little guy as I'm sure you'll both benefit from it. :grouphug:

I will take this into consideration. Usually, I only have about 2-3 really bad times in a year and this was one of them...and now that I think about it, they usually do happen in the winter time!!! So..I'll try to remember some VitaminD3 when I go to the store. Does it matter what brand it is or just as long as it says Vitamin D3??

I am glad you reached out and let it go. Depression is a very tough disease. Definately make sure you try a few meds. Sometimes it takes a few combinations before you figure out what works for you. But if you can figure it out life will be so much better. Hang in there. We are always here to listen.

Brand doesn't matter, but yes...it does need to be D3. I buy mine at Costco, but I'm sure it's available anywhere that carries vitamins -- Walmart, Target, Walgreens, etc.

Good luck!!!

I hope you feel better Terri, The cloudy dreary weather we have experienced this year has been depressing even to those of us who don't suffer from depression. You might want to also consider a "Full Spectrum" Lamp or lighting for your house. This has been proven to help those who suffer from seasonal depression in suppressing symptoms. Google Full Spectrum Lighting for information.

Thank you both for these kind thoughts and words!!:goodvibes

I applaud you for realizing that there is an issue and doing what you can to make yourself mentally healthy. I wish you many happy days, few down days and tons of Pixie Dust to take on whatever life throws you.
