Why I hate the 90 plus 10 and CLP pkgs

So, Sunday was the first day I can do my reservations 90 days out plus the 10. Earlier on the boards it was stated that Le Celliar was no longer taking reservations for 2 for the CLP Pacakges. I was worried then that there would be little chance of getting a reservation.

I was right. I was on the phone at 7am and they had NOTHING for 2 people only for larger tables. Oh they can fit me at 8:50 pm but that does me no good, especially because I want to see IllumiNations.

So, I had to settle for lunch there. We will probably have to do counter service for dinner which stinks! I checked the availability all week. The res agent suggested I go to the Contemporary for dinner. I told her that I am staying at the Poly. I'm going to go to all the way from EPCOT to the Cont back to EPCOT just do eat dinner.

I wish Disney would go back to the old way. That way EVERYONE has an equal chance of getting the reservations they want. And for the CLP Packages, they should allow that to be booked at the 90 day mark too.

Yes, I was able to get many other reservations I was looking for, mostly lunches but the dinners are hard to come by.

They never have tables for two, but it has been suggested to me many times, to just get a table for 3! So, we do!

Hmmmm...... not a bad idea!!! I'm going to try that now and see what I get.

I wasn't sure if Disney allowed that or not but it's worth a try.

Thanks!

Would Disney charge the credit card for the no-show on the CLP package if only 2 people show up for a 3 people reservation?

Most likely, yes. You have to prepay your CLP Package. I did not get the package. I have done the show 3 times already and I wasn't pleased with the package last year.

The purpose of getting the package was so you don't have to wait in line prior to the show. 2 years ago, they sold only a "limited" number of pacakges. Enough to fill 4 rows down in front on the left hand side. Last year, different story!!! We arrrived at 3:45 pm only to find people in line for the 5pm show. By the time they let us in, the line was past Japan. Disney just sold has many packages as possible. No guarantee of a good seat (although most are fine).

So this year, I'm skipping it. I rather tour the parks then waste my time in line again.

I did call back and they had any time I wanted for a table of 3 or more. Amazing. You think they would give people what they want. So instead of doing the CLP Package, just book it for 3 people.

I still think the old way -- 90 days prior -- for everyone was the best way. It still gives everyone an equal shot.

CLP were available for booking 8/15 for everyone. Le Cellier is a popular restaurant, particularly with MYW Dining. Makes sense that they don't want to book an ADR for a party of two on a table that seats 4.
