I see a lot of people talking about having multiple small contracts as aposed to 1 . Why would I have to have 2 80 point contracts instead of 1 160 point contract. I guess if you were goign to have like 500 points I could see getting differnt ones but at lower numbers why would you want to?

Some people prefer the assurance in case they ever want to, or have to, sell some of their points. Contracts cannot be split, so a larger contract would have to be sold as one. Sometimes the larger contracts may take a bit longer to sell as well.

as CarolAnn says - longer contracts are harder to sell, plus you might get less for it.

smaller contracts are more demand - and DVC will kept the prices up on smaller contracts just because they don't want anyone becoming a member for just a few thousands dollars.

Now I wish I could say it was this that got me to get my smaller contracts - no it was my budget....

I bought my first contract for the required 150 points. That one I have financed. My add-ons I have purchased and paid for with cash so that I only have the one loan that I am finishing up. I have also purchased where I love to stay so that I can be assured that I have the 11 month window for at least a few days of my vacations. I don't mind doing split stays so it is perfect for me.

easier to sell.

easier to split up among children for gifting or inheritance.

3 50 pt contracts at different resorts (for example) allows 11 month booking access every third year at different resorts for those who don't have a favorite and like to move around.
