Why get to parks early?

Slightly off topic

Do they still play the Lion King theme music at the opening of Animal Kingdom? That was always a cool reason for me to get there early.

So to clarify, at the parks besides MK do they let people past security checks before the official park opening and then have a "rope drop" somewhere beyond that point?

Are the Fastpass machines up and running the minute the park opens?

Generally, if you're at the park the moment it opens, you won't need to use FP for at least an hour, so it really doesn't matter... But yes, the FP machines are up and running when their attraction opens each morning.
