Why FOUR MB's???????

Sooo, DH & I were at WDW in November,walking/crawling the 5k. We picked out our MB colors and received our MB's in the mail. They worked fine.We were told they were good for three years.
So here we are,getting ready to check into the WL on Sunday,for a week(our first time there-we're VERY excited!!). I received an email saying that our MB's were waiting for us at the desk!! I looked over at MDE & sure enough,there are FOUR MB's attached to our reservation. All are active and the two new ones have different numbers than the two we already have. We never received a message that there were MORE MB's being prepared for us. It would have been easy enough for whoever is in charge of getting the MB's to the people, to check if they've already been issued.
Seems like a waste of time,resources and rubber!!! We can't be the only ones receiving MB's who don't need them. If I had been notified sooner, I would have cut them off at the pass and said No Thank-you. There is only a 3 month difference in receiving our two sets of MB's, not really a whole lot of time passing to lose us in the shuffle.
I'm hoping we can still use the original, as they are the colors we picked,me bright blue and DH lime green. The new ones are gray because we didn't know about them,thus,not customizing them.
It's not a big deal,getting another two MB's. It just seems wasteful and makes WDW look a tad clueless with their own system. Just glitches, I guess.....:confused3

That's just the way it works now. Even people going for a continuous stay but splitting it between resorts get a set of MBs for each resort stay. All of them are interchangeable and your old and new bands will all work. Hopefully they fix that eventually.
 
WDW is currently issuing a new MB for every on-site resort stay, whether you already have one or not. I currently have two myself, one from October and one from January. I switched discounts for the October trip last minute and could have had another one that they tried to give me at check-in, but I refused to accept it and after a few days it disappeared from my MDE profile.

It just seems unnecessary.I guess it's just one of those things that comes with a new system.
 

Yep I'm going for 2 weeks and doing a quadruple split stay.... 4 sets of at bands are sitting downstairs! I kind of like having all the colors though....
 
a single stay for my family of 3 generated 28 bands. No fancy split stays, nothing weird. But when I called to inquire about it, I was told that every time your reservation is "touched" in certain ways, the system can trigger another Magic Band for your party.

It's part of them wanting to make 100% sure everyone has one.

Some of the things that I did that caused a trigger... adding DME; calling to fix my Son's AP (which wasn't showing right in MDE); Calling to lookup an AP number (couldn't find the card, and the number I had written down had 2 numbers transposed, this generated a single new band); Calling to have two accounts "linked" (meeting a friend there we wanted to "share" some FP+ experiences); calling to get 2 people "added" (got us 3 more plus the added people.)

After all that we still ALL had MB waiting for us at check in. Since we didn't "customize" our MB before leaving. We of course had a whole plastic bag of them in our luggage incase "we brought the wrong ones."
