For years I went to Disney Hotels because of the treatment we got. I thought of DVC as a pertentious group. When my in-laws joined I got to see first hand how well they were treated too. We joined soon after. We have been going to DVC Resorts, especially OKW, for quite a while now. I just wanted to point out how great some of the Cast have been. It's always fun to see what's going on at Hank's (same faces for years). Having lunch or dinner at Olivia's is much nicer when Tara waits on you. But the service there is always excellent. The previous manager Brad was like a friend. The gang at the Suitcase are always fun at the end of a day. And the frontdesk crew will always do something as simple as offer a baloon to my daughter. Oh, and the guards at the gate always say Welcome Home. That's what starts a great week for us.

That's why this DVC Member Loves Cast Members!

Your input and rebuttle is welcomed and encouraged...

What a great way to focus on the postive!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

We love the "Welcome homes"! and really having it feel like our WDW home. (no matter what resort we are at.)

everything you said plus - some great front desk people that really, really try to get you what you want.

the bus drivers are wonderful!

the gardners/okay horticulturers are great!

a maid service that cares.

some wonderful views....

I have called housekeeping when I have had car trouble - and they were so helpful...

bell services helped last time when I had to take mother to the hospital.

great people (on the whole) and very, very helpful!! (on the whole)

We've baked cookies for the CMs at OKW - especially the ones in the store - we've just had a blast with those folks. (We use the stove decoration!)

I could so easily make a list of Nice CMs.....

I couldn't agree more with this statement. You know the feeling you sometimes get when you "try out" a new restaurant or bar. Kind of an apprehensive feeling. Well, the bartender at the Suitcase was as friendly as could be and the other guests were just as great. I am looking forward to visiting there again.

Couldn't agree more with all of the OP reasons. And I'll add a few. When my DD was little we signed her up for swimming lessons. No one else signed up so my DD got private lessons with Shelly. This was many years ago and Shelly is no longer at OKW but She was so great that my DD still talks about her. Last summer I was walking to the bus stop after picking up some packages I had delivered to the resort (OKW), a CM driving in a golf cart stopped and asked me if I would like a ride. I told him it was very nice to offer but I was just going to catch the bus back to my building. He said no problem, hop in. We were staying in building 55, so it was a little out of his way. Talk about going over and beyond what is expected of a CM. Or the CM's who make the towel animals. We were at OKW during huricane Charlie and saw first hand how wonderful the CM's were. Last week I made several reservations with member services and had the best CM helping me. He did such a wonderful job, his attitude, knowledge, etc. that I emailed member services to tell them how much I appreciated the outstanding job he did.

IMO they are doing a great job and appreciate it.

I love them, too! My DD got balloons and a signed card from Cinderella because a special CM heard her say she would be turning 3 the day we left. Its the Disney Difference that made us all join DVC to begin with. :flower1:

I love this post!

I can't really believe the other negative post because I've never ran into a cast member at any dedicated DVC resort or split resort that was not terrific.

Here's some that come to mind, Balou Crabbe at Hilton Head - what a great guy and musician. He truly loves people and it shows through and through.

Art the doorman at Beach Club. He's a sweety. Numerous Beach Club staff through the years that have treated us great - thanks you guys. I don't know who all sent up the balloons and card for our kids on their honeymoon at BCV, but it made them want to come back and they told all of their friends and took pictures of what you gave them.

VWL - The lady at VWL that helped my sister (who was staying offsite by the way) track down and cancel a Priority seating arrangement for a large group reservation during hurricane Jeanne. She went beyond the call of duty. Even called our room at the VWL to let me know she got that taken care of for my sister - wow!

VWL - Stan - LOVE you Stan, you're the man! Friendly and gives great tours of the lodge.

Last July were at OKW over my birthday. My daughter sent a cake to BWV from the Boardwalk bakery, thinking we were there. When her husband got home he reminded her that we were at OKW. She called the BWV front desk, the CM there couldn't help, she called OKW front desk, the Cm there couldn't help, no one could find the cake. She called Olivia's, the manager there said she didn't know where the cake was but she would find it. All this time I had no idea what was going on, I found out later. When we got into the room after a day in the parks, the cake was on the table, with a note from my daughter. After I talked to my daughter and she told me what happened, I went to Olivia's and talked to the manager that got the cake to me. I asked her how she did it and reluctantly she told me she sent someone to the Boardwalk Bakery to get a cake for me. Talk about going the extra mile. I wrote to the person in charge of the hotel guest services and told her that this is why we bought DVC. The magic is stilll there.

It made my vacation really special.

I think the CMs at OKW are the nicest.

They are my favorites.

Also, Art the Greeter at BCV.

I love CMs.

From the friendly folks at the guard shack at BC/BCV to the checkin CMs, every single one has been friendly and helpful.

Mousekeeping has always been prompt and helpful every time I've called at BCV. One guy was even forgiving with a big smile when I called last trip for a luggage rack only to find it stashed behind the main MBR door. I found it literally as he knocked on the door to bring us one...sorry!

Every person at Member Services has been wonderful...helpful and friendly.

Both guides we've worked with were great.

Of course, there are the thousands of non-DVC Cms whom we've encountered over the years. I think the friendly, helpful CMs throughout WDW are one of the main reasons we return so often. Sure we've encountered a couple over the past 25 years who must have been having a bad moment but the VAST majority are incredible.

Thanks to all the WDW CMs who keep the magic alive!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I also love the CM's at OKW. Everyone makes you feel right at home don't forget the boat drivers who take you to DTD. I enjoy those trips everyone at OKW seems so great you just want to go back. We stayed once at BWV great CM's there too . We try to be polite and thank everyone the CM's work hard to make your stay the best and we also tip. We've been members for 10 years and have never had a problem I hope it stays that way DVC is the greatest

I have to comment on this post. As a TDS cast member and a DVC owner I can feel for the orginal CM for their negitive post. My family and I have stayed at DVC resorts for many years now joining in 2001 and owning at vwl.

My first stay at my home resort in a studio resulted in that dumpster view. Did I get annoyed and scream and yell *** no. I said to my wife, Look this is the room veryone talks about onthe DIS boards. We had a blast for that weekend after a fabulous 4 day cruise on the Wonder.

Most recently we were vacationing over Labor Day week when Hurricane Francis hit. We were transferring resorts from VWL to SSR. We wanted to experience this new talk about resort coming from New York. Anyway when we heard that the hurricane was going to hit we called MS and asked if we could be upgraded from a studio to a 1 bedroom as we felt we were going to be confined to our room for a few hours. MS went out of there way to make the change happen at such short notice. Who knew we would there for 36 straight hrs. Then when the airport was closed, they worked their magic fingers again allowing us to stay in our original room for an additional 2 days until the planes started flying again.

YES CAST MEMBERS ARE MAGICAL., The team at SSR constantly braved the weather to check on us during the storm and openned up Artist Pallet for a special dinner for the guest, played games with us and the characters were real plentiful. We had a few CM's stay at our building during the hurricane as they were on storm duty.

Here they were away from their own homes during this trying time to make sure us guests welfare was being taken care of. That is what I call dedication and the love of their job.

We have since added on here at SSR and have another vacation scheduled in just 3 months from now to this magical place.

Just remember, CM's are people just like you and me also.

I was so focussed on WDW that I forgot about HH. Balou is great, what a story teller. And the CM's that work the campfire are really something, the energy they exibit is incredible. :cheer2: "I said a Boom chick-a-boom" :cheer2:

And at BCV, coming in from the pouring rain and being handed a towel to dry off and a big smile to go with it.

My DS loves the little plastic army men and sharks, so the big tub at OKW always has some of these items hanging around. Mousekeeping usually arranges them in funny ways that gives the whole family a laugh.

The bus drivers that tell trivia and try to get conversations going with the guest on board.

We had such a positive first trip to OKW - I can't wait to go back. You may remember my long post about the robbery of our room and how everyone there pulled together to make my kids feel better, get us a new room, and even sent cards and baloons to the kids when we got back to the new room from AK the next day. They really went way above and beyond what my husband and I were expecting. I have to say I was so pleassantly surprised that even the security people had the Disney spirit. My kids will never forget the security manager teaching them Mickey Mouse in sign language. Here's to those that make our Disney trips what they are.... :cheer2: :thewave:

I too would like to thank the Castmembers. CM's are people too. There are great ones and downright not so great ones, and Im sure that depends on the day for any of them.

I love being a DVC member, and have enjoyed all of our visits. Thank you to all that go out of their way to add magic to our vacations.

Thank you to Member Services and a special hello to Joy, who I had the pleasure of meeting at the Member Merry Mixer in December. She and 3 other very nice MS reps visited with our family and I had the opportunity to tell them Thankyou and how they make DVC worth it. Without their patience and kindness, DVC would be just another timeshare but they are first line magic.

As long as a grumpy CM doesnt stand between me and the magic, I ignore them and continue on with our vacation and relaxation plans.

I want to add, that in Dec. at SSR quiet pool we met some young people hanging out in the hot tub with us. I asked them what was their favorite resort and they said OKW. They said they had been members since 94 and the CM's are like family. I hope my children feel that way about SSR.
