Why don't the resort buses to the MK drop guests off at the TTA instead of dropping them directly at the MK? It seems that it would be more of the MK experience if the buses dropped the guests at the TTA so the guest's would have to take the monorail or ferry to the MK entrance.

I disagree.

I think the best MK experience is getting into MK. I really wouldn't be happy to ride a bus from my resort and THEN have to ride yet ANOTHER form of transportation to get to my final destination. Please tell me you're not a Disney executive doing some market research!!! :rotfl:

It would cause a lot more congestion at TTC. As it is, you often have to wait during the busy season to get on the monorail or boat. If all the buses were to drop off at TTC, the weight would increase dramatically.

I like it how it is. Id be a little irked to be droppd off back at the TTC and having to wait in yet another line before even walking through the entrance gates. I like to think of it as another perk of being at the reosrt and taking their transportation.

Let's see . . .

Option A: Wait in one bus line and be taken straight to the MK entrance.

Option B: Wait in one bus line and then be taken to the TTC to wait in another line for the monorail or ferry.

I'm definatley picking Option A! :cool1:

Yuck, no way. The MK experience is not the TTC. Get me to the gates as soon as possible.

I am curious though....can you walk from the MK entrance, where the bus drops you off, to the TTA? How far is it? I want to take my boys on the monorail just so they can see it and enjoy the trip.

ummm didnt they "used to"?? I know I have brain seizure - I just dont remember busses dropping off guests at the MK!! So imagine my surprise when we went to the TTC and COULDNT get a bus back to our resort!! I was shocked!!

and if you do get dropped off at the MK - you cant walk to the TTC, but you can walk to the monorail (w/o using a ticket to enter) and hop on the monorail either to the resorts or to the TTC!!

Originally, all buses did drop off passengers only at TTC. Buses didn't always go directly to MK - I believe that started around 1989 (please someone correct me if I'm wrong). The thinking at the time was "to heighten anticipation". First drive onto WDW property-excitement builds, next take tram from parking lot to TTC(or resort bus to TTC)-Oh boy, we're almost there!, next take boat or monorail to MK :Pinkbounc - the first ride at WDW!

Whew...I was worn out by the time I arrived on Main St.!

Fortunately, the buses now go directly to MK.
PTAmom...you can walk from the MK gate to the monorail and take the trip around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

The monorail MK station is right outside the entrance gates. You may hop on the monorail for a round trip ride around Seven Seas Lagoon anytime. The monorail line has two lines. The Express line will take you from MK right to the TTA and the right back to MK. The Resort Line will stop at CR, Poly & GF and then back to MK. You may ride either line. You can circle all the way around or you may want to get off and look around a resort which can be alot of fun before returning to MK. My kids love taking the monorail, it is a ride in itself to them. :)

If your kids really love the monorail and you have lots of time to waste, start at MK, get on the resort monorail, get off at TTC and get on the Epcot monorail, ride the complete loop back to TTC, switch lines and finish the resort circle.

Someimes on a hot day (and espcially when my youngest wanted to ride the monorail ONLY--he used to hate most of the regular rides) we would leave MK and make a loop around in that wonderful airconditioned monorail. A nice interlude before heading back into the park.

We stayed on-site last year for the first time and getting dropped off at MK was one of dh's favorite perks! :)

Thanks for the great answers!! Will have to try out the monorail....I'll just tell my kids it's a ride!!

I'm with you.

I disagree.

I love the monorail. I still think the monorail from the TTC to Epcot is the World's best ride. I love the ferryboat. It's an experience all it's own. But I also LOVE the resort bus straight to the MK. Saves time and is a definite perk for me. It's actually the only bus I take if I can help it.

When we went in 1991 for our honeymoon, the bus system ran through the TTC. You did not go anywhere by bus unless you went to the TTC first; wait times were quite interesting!! Back then, the buses were on the flag system (blue flag on bus meant MK; green flag meant Disney Inn where we stayed). Of course, there were only 3 parks, River Country, and Pleasure Island back then. I still have the guide map that tells which flag color was for which park or hotel. My husband and I discuss this each time we go to Disney. Kind of a "remember when...." time.

I seem to remember the bus system going through the TTC years ago. And I remember it being a complete pain & waste of time!

One of the perks, of staying onsite is NOT having to wait online for the ferry or monorail.

And if you really want to, you can get to the TTC.

But putting the onsite people at the TTC with the offsite people only makes more lines, bigger hassel, more waiting.

We already wait to get onto our bus/boat/monorail anyway...Why add ANOTHER line to that?

We also remember going to the TTC from the resorts and it was a hassle at times. Since more resorts have opened up, it is much easier to drop people off at the park especially since you get close to all the other parks. However to get to another park from MK, you have to go to the TTC.

:moped:

I am not crazy after all!! :rotfl2: well at least with this memory!! :rotfl2:

Thanks for clarifying!! :thumbsup2
