Why don't you add your location to your profile?

So many people do not add thier location to thier porfile, even a state or geographical location (Northeast US , etc) but in your posts it gives it away anyway? ("We drove 45 min into Boston" , or "the drive to LAX is about 1 hour") Is it really such a big deal to let everyone know where you are? Especially when someone posts that it's -25 degrees or something, we know that they are not sitting in Arizona? So, come on, let us in on the secret, and update those profiles!!

I'm with GSL, I always look to see where people are, but if they choose not to put it in their profile, that's OK, too. I can't imagine that someone would even think of searching someone out on the board with evil doings in mind, but I am a more trusting soul.

I don't get that either, but the one I really don't get are the ones that won't even put their gender into their profile. I guess they're keeping it a secret

You'd be surprised what some folks will do.

I participated in a National Event that was televised and on the Internet...a DISer actually search me down(just from knowing what state I lived in) ,printed my pic on the internet BB,and put a link on a Bulletin Board that listed my full name and the small town I live in.It was just a "gag",but at the time it really upsetted me...and made me realize that sometimes just a little info is too much info,in the wrong hands.

Wow Pollyanna....that's some story! How horrible of someone to do that! How did you handle it? Did you ever find out who it was?

I must admit, I do enjoy seeing where people are from. I don't care exactly where, but the state would be nice. When I see someone from "Michigan" then I wonder if they are near me or not. Just being curious, that's all.

i don't think most people would even know how to begin to track someone down with just a tiny bit of info. i know i wouldn't.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, pollyanna! I would be upset too.

I post my location, but very little other personal info about myself that could identify me. I feel confident no one can find me.

It drives me nuts when people start talking about weather and storms etc. and I have no idea what part of the country they are in. I assume they are excluding me from their posts since I am not "in the know" about their location and others obviously are - it seems rude.
