microwaves? Is there a reason for it? We love staying onsite, but this time around we are going with my cousin who has toddlers. She *needs* a microwave.

I really want to stay at the DLH, but the no microwave is a deal breaker for her. We want to stay at the same hotel because we live so far apart from one another that this will be the only time to see each other this year.

Has anyone ever found the reason why they don't have them?

They don't want you eating in your room. They want you eating at the restaurants for all your meals and snacks.

Could be,
A. No room
B. They do draw a lot of power
C. We've become too dependent on the darn things
D. 'Some' would grow legs
E. Cheap ones don't last long
(and the biggy)
F. It pretty much forces you to eat out.

What does she need it for? If it is to warm up bottles, she can use either hot water in the sink or run water through the coffee maker to heat them up.

While I wish the DLR hotels had a microwave, to me, the other advantages outweigh this omission. I think it really depends on why she feels she needs it.

Don't know if anyone knows the "official" reason for no microwaves - will be curious if someone does.

A while back, I remeber Al Lutz explaining that the original infrastructure just can't support the draw of electricity. There was a plan in the works to demolish each tower, one at a time, and rebuild them with modern codes, but it just wasn't economically feasible.
Looks like if it is a deal breaker, you are deal-broke!

I'm not sure if this is the case, but you may be able to get a in-room refrigerator if you have a health reason. I thought PPH offered that, but I could be mistaken.

I did have to ask for it... but always got one. Now I'll be at BLT and they all have one in the rooms.

The microwave at the PPH is very convenient to the rooms: just a quick elevator ride down and then to the bar area next to the coffee bar. And there is a 'fridge in each room. Not sure if that will work, but another option might be renting one of the DVC rooms at VGC. Even the studios have a mcrowave, although you might want to splurge (and it is a serious splurge) on a 2 BR for both families to share, which has a full kitchen. -- Suzanne
