Why Don't People Give Their Location?

I fixed it! I had an email issue. I think it was my old email & I thought I repaired it. Now it is fixed.

um. . . .okay  :teeth:

Wow, I'm surprised at how many didn't know what state the "mitten" is, don't ya'll remember your grade school geography? ;)

Patch - I asked because I was curious, I said that in my original post, duh.

It does bug me when people don't put at least their state - especially if they talk about the weather where they live, how far from WDW they are, or other somewhat location-specific things .
Ditto. This happens all the time! Someone will discuss something location-specific and then I glance over to see where they are from and location is either blank or cutsie.

I understand that people don't want to put too much information out there but they could at least mention a state or region in the text of the post when talking about something location-specific. It's almost like they assume everyone knows where they are.

I enjoy the goegraphical info here, always interesting, weather, diets, etc. I like the locations.

I am Northeast of the Middle of the Mitten.

I started a thread about this a long time ago, because it seemed so silly to have someone with no location, then read their trip report and have them say "It took 2 hours and 18 minuted to reach the airport" and I'm thinking, with a circular compass, you could figure that out way too easy. So what's the big secret?

And yes, it's a mitten, and if you are creative enough, your other hand can become the UP.

I've got to say that most of the time I haven't a clue where the location is - the USA is a big place! ;)

I agree. Whenever someone is talking about weather etc. and I look over and see no location - my first thought is that they are either really egotistical or they have no interest in replies from anyone that is not a close friend on the board. It's pretty silly when someone will ask "how far is it ... or how much will it cost me to fly to.... ", etc. without listing where they are coming from.

Because I used our last name in our user name; I didn't know if it was wise to state our location, too. Soltwisch is not a common name! So, it has been an issue of sense of security for me, I guess.

When posting anything about weather or location related I do let everyone know that I am from the "Show Me State" of Missouri! As you can see I updated it for everyone to see!

Personally I *HATE* the fact I live in Utah (and before ya'll ask I am not the dominat religion) I am a Californian or Floridian at heart :) but until I get educated Im stuck here (long story)

Yes I'm embarressed by my state...

I didn't know it was optional. Learn something new every day.

I like reading the locations, but if it is blank I am not bothered.

Since it must be optional, maybe it does not matter.

I've been to Utah and I think it's a lovely state. :)

Why do people need to know where we are from honestly.
They might not need to know, but they might like to know. The reasons have been explained in other posts already.

It's kind of like wanting to know what gender someone is - some people like to have confusing user names ::yes:: :teeth: ;).

Because my celebrity has robbed me of my ability to be open with my dear DIS friends. So sad really.

But fear not, Miss Cleo knows where we all are.
