I went to work today and had 3 appointments on the books (1 was for a co-worker whose father passed away so it was comped) and 2 other appointments. Well.... BOTH of them didn't show up. Not only did they not show up but they didn't call!!! I understand things come up but come on. At least call!!!! When you don't call and don't show up, I don't get paid :furious:

Sorry for the vent

Because most people are inconsiderate lunkheads that don't give a crap about anyone but themselves.

Ok, I'm in a bad mood today.....

Maybe they forgot. I know, not a good excuse, but could explain why they didn't call.

What are these appointments for? Sometimes people think these appointments are not that important and treat them as such.

I do think it's rude not to call and cancel.

I'm a massage therapist. Believe me, I know things come up and I could see one of them forgetting but 2 out of 3 is pretty bad :teeth: . One actually had a day long package so she messed up a lot of peoples schedules. It just stinks because I could have been opened up for those 2 hours to get other appointments.

On the bright side... I got out early  !!!

Do you charge a missed appointment fee? My massage lady does and says it really helps cut down the number of people that don't at least call and cancel.

I wish. They actually do have a notation in our menu that we will charge 15% but they never do.

What area of the philly suburbs do you live? I lived in Lansdale/Hatfield area before I moved to Orlando.

Massages and the such were appointments that I would NEVER forget! Sadly in PA I was able to fit them in much more frequently than her in Orlando!!!

I live in Wayne, right on the fringe of King of Prussia. I think the beautiful weather has something to do with it :sunny:

Not only do I think you should charge the 15% fee, but I think you should raise it to maybe 50% to make it more punitive, if they do not cancel their appointments with at least 24-hours notice. Unfortunately, some people need a little negative reinforcement (fees) to do the right thing. No way you should have to lose business and waste your time coming to work when someone is inconsiderate in this way to you.

I would do it in a heartbeat but I know corporate won't (I work in a spa). And if they actually do charge it, I bet I wouldn't see it.

I worked in Wayne (60 West Ave) and also 170 Warner Rd several years ago. I actually live in KofP for the first 9 months of my life. My ex was raised in Wayne.....

So I know it well1

I loved working in Wayne. At that time (early 90s) it still had so much of the small town feeling!

Of course when we are back in PA, I have to make a trip to KofP!
