Why doesn't the paper fit?

How come 8*8 paper doesn't fit into the page protectors in my 8*8 album and the 12* 12 doesn't fit the 12* 12 album? Is this true for all albums or is it dependent on the brand?

This is so irritating to work on a layout then find it doesn't fit in the page protector :confused3

I guess I'm just ranting a bit and wondering if others have the same problem. It just doesn't make any sense.

All paper dimensions are not made equal!!

This drives me crazy too. If I have two different papers that are supposed to be 12x12 why are they two different sizes?!?!?

Or the ones that have a white tear-off strip on the bottom that's included in the 12x12 measurements?!?!? (Not all do this, but I've had quite a few this way. :()

I trim all my paper to fit my 12x12. Nothing fits!

I understand the frustration. I just completed and album that was supposed to be 8x8 paper, however it was more like 8 1/2 x 8 1/2. I ended up have to cut down 12x12 to fit the right size and use my 8x8 for matting and other accents.
I don't usually have a problem with 12x12, but maybe don't notice it as much :confused3 .

It's really bad with CM albums. They're 12 x 12 counts the border edge of the page. So if you want to put an entire background paper on a page you have to cut it to fit inside the border edge. Nothing worse than building a perfect page on the perfect background only to find you have to trim it to make it fit :sad2:

I hear you about the CM. I've found that it's typically 12x11and a little more than a half....grr...

And of course for the CM sentiments albums (7x7), they're actually 7 inches x 18 cm....even more annoying!

If I'm wallpapering a page though, I always trim the wallpaper to fit and then build it from there...less frustration in the long run!

That happened to me!!! :furious: I had done several l/os before my album and pages came in. Went to put them on the pages and they were too big! I almost ruined a couple of them when I had to rearrange things to cut them down by a half inch. Believe me, I wasn't too happy about that. Also, with the 8x8 pages, the top is just a tad more than 8"- more like 8 1/16" (at least all of mine are).

I know this won't help if you do not have the album, but I have taken to sticking the sheets into the page protectors BEFORE I do anything to them just to see if they will fit. Less annoying in the end.

Unless I add too many embellishments.

What I do is have a plain white piece of cardstock that usually comes with the album and keep that and put an arrow where the top is and use that as my guide for wach page I do. That way they are uniform. I usually end up using my guide paper for scribble paper as well to test pen color and what not. Dh laughs at the condition of my guide paper.

also if you add a lot of bulky embellishments, that too would make it hard to fit.
I always take a bit off the sides of my paper if i have a lot of stuff on it.

Ok, please dont flame me here....

I have found that the inexpensive albums found at Hobby Lobby and the like arent true 12x12, heck the paper at these places arent even true 12x12 ( or whatever size you buy ). Try buying Bazzill products, or one of the other "better" brands. I still get other stuff at HL, but stick to bazzill for cardstock and albums.
