Why Doesn't DVC turn the Yacht club into Villas ?

Cheaply done? You might not like the architectural style, but DVD spent a fortune on BLT including getting the land ready to build and having a famous New York architect design the building.

Hey we all have our opinions. Compare it to the WL or AKL or even the VGF original building ! BLT just does not fit in . Its a total eyesore on Bay Lake. I'm quite sure if you put it up for a vote it would come in toward the bottom for design among our other DVC resorts. Its alure is its location. I felt like I was staying in a hospital on my only visit there. Never again.

I agree on many of these points. For me, it's near the bottom of the MK resorts. In my personal preferences, GF is too formal for me. I much prefer the Poly and WL. But here are some things that I feel are lovely about BLT: (1) The views from many rooms are spectacular. Looking out over Bay Lake to see the Electrical Water Pageant...or Watching the fireworks---absolutely fabulous. (2) Again a personal preference, in terms of DVC access, the contemporary has one of the two best gyms (the other being at SSR). (3) Being able to walk back to the room after a holiday party or after a crowded day. Imagine being able to walk a few minutes back to your room on July 4th after the fireworks instead of waiting 30 to 45 minutes for a very crowded bus/monorail/boat. (4) relatively easy access good food. I know there's nothing meaningful at BLT. But it's close to other options. Steakhouse 71 is next door and Citricos, Kona's, etc., are a monorail stop away--which means, in the summer, you can mostly move from BLT to other restaurants while staying in the AC. (5) Reasonable sound-proofing between rooms. In person experience, I've not heard a lot of noises from other rooms--while over at the Poly, I can hear a fair bit through the walls. And (6) the points charts for BLT are the lowest for any monorail resort. During peak seasons, they are significantly lower than other monorail loop options. During the low season, the difference is negligible.

Still think they should:
  • Build an entrance at Africa, build a bridge over to the RIV area
  • Convert one by one the CBR area into deluxe towers with different European themes
  • Replace the Jamaica area with a European Market (similar to Disney springs but more Disney centric) either theme based on Germany or Switzerland
  • Connect new skyliner line to Disney Springs to Market area
  • Replace part of AOA or POP into DVC Value (similar price point as AKV Value rooms if not slightly less expensive)
That whole area should be converted IMO long term

The main issue is Disney doesn't have the park space to deal with the increase headcount this would bring.
