Why doesn't Disney offer call back option... where you leave your number, they hold your spot in the queue and call you back when it's your turn???

Because that takes longer on their end. They have to wait for you to answer, which is wasted time for them.

If you call their Internet Help Desk, then ask for resort help, they'll say they can't help you, but will have a resort agent call you back the same day. The only problem with this is that you have to spend hours on hold to reach the Internet Help Desk lol. But it's helpful if you've tried & tried but just can't break through to hold on the resort line.

It is used by other businesses and offers a good option when the phone lines are flooded with calls. There are many posts on the boards about people being on hold for several hours, if they were lucky to get through at all.

The person doesn’t actually dial your number, it’s done by computer. When it’s your turn you pick up and then are connected to a representative. If anything, it cuts out the time one explains how they have been on hold for X hours.

They still have to wait for you to pick up the phone though, don't they? I didn't say a thing about dialing a number?

Maybe they don't do it as a filtering technique.. only people who have a real need to talk to them will wait to do it. One thing these theme park boards have taught me, is that people will call them for any minor reason...maybe long phone waits encourage more to go find the answer themselves, or that the question isn't really that important.

....they really SHOULD have some sort of call-back service.....my DS has been trying since MONDAY to purchase park tickets and set up reservations for his July 20 arrival....I'm on hold on my land line now:
