Why doesn't Disney do something like this?

Are you new to Disboards?? Attitude is a given on these boards....unfortunately. And i personally like sarcasm. Lol.

No, I'm not. Just had an off day and didn't want to hear it. I'm not truly offended...just had to yell at somebody.

It would be nice for a type of Moderate suite for families.
It is nice that they did AOA but we won't stay there at that overpriced rate. Also not sold on the room accomodations and decor. It is too way out there for us.
I like the more subdued atmosphere at the mods. And definitely can't afford the deluxe.

Yes, this. I find the suites. Loud with too much going on. Overload. And like the previous poster said, I don't want to "set up" my room every night after coming home at 12am sometimes.
I would do the deluxe, if this were an option. I'm not too into DVC or multiple bedrooms. I just like this a lot, but I like being on Disney property more. :confused3

We are a family of 6 and I would definitely consider a room like that!

I see pps have mentioned that Disney already has options for families of 6...true, but I would prefer something like this (at a mod. price) for many reasons.

I just can't get excited about the family suites at the new AoA, as most of the beds are actually converted from a different type of furniture. After a long day at the parks, the last thing I want to do is have to take time to assemble beds for the majority of my party.

2 bedroom suites at Deluxe resorts or 2 bedroom villas are cost prohibitive for my family.

Getting 2 regular rooms at a value would work, but if we can't get connecting rooms, then I have to stay in a separate room from my husband.

I agree, and even getting two rooms at a value is not cheap, I have done it. We normally stay at riverside and we love it but I would like more space.

Like you, i can't get excited about the suites because the last thing I want to do is convert furniture into beds at the end of the day, and I am so OCD I would have to fix them back each morning because I will not leave the room in a mess. Not gonna happen at Disney.

2 couples + 2 kids is a totally different situation than a family of 2 adults plus 4 young kids.

Right!

My thoughts exactly. There really isn't an in between option. Not saying they should or need to provide it, but it is definitely something that would appeal to many.

I agree.:thumbsup2

That room is $179 per night, plus a $16 per night resort fee, plus $13 per night for self-parking if you have a car. If Disney were to build (from scratch) a Moderate Suite Resort, there's no way in the world the pricing or hotel amenities would be competitive.

I checked into this too and your prices are right. I decided to stay at a Wyndham Bonnet Creek condo instead. For $840.00 total, I could get a two bedroom condo with tons of space right there on Disney property for 7 nights. I plan to get an AP so I can park for free, and it will be one less ticket I need for the following trip. I couldn't book two rooms at a value or one room at Riverside for that.

I am a Disney resort snob, but when it comes down to me being able to go or not because of the room expense, I am going to shop around.

I'm jumping in on this thread while on the ride home to NC from a 9 night stay at AoA.

I have 4 children so this was logistically the best option. It was wonderful.

The murphy bed pulls down in about 5 seconds-toss the pillows on it and you are done. The sofa bed was super easy and my 10 and 11 year olds handled it themselves.

The master bedroom was not as loudly themed as the outer suite. The area facing the bed was pretty plain (in a good way) Also, the door blocked a lot of sound in both directions. And it locked...

We were on the second floor overlooking the cars pool-no issues with outside noise.

We had a great experience.

I don't think Disney would price a room like this at the same price point as Bonnet Creek. Look at Disney's resort prices....they are skewed way out of proportion, BUT, they manage to fill rooms. A mod at Disney is in the high $100 to mid $200 range per night depending on view and time of year. If they build a mod from scratch with rooms that sleep 6, they could easily start the pricing in the high $200's. Look at AOA suites....same price as one room at a deluxe but none of the deluxe amenities. You pay for space and for a family of six to stay in one room.

It's unfortunate, but as long as there are people willing to pay top dollar for Disney resorts, they won't be lowering the prices.

JMHO.

We have 4 kids and will be at AoA for our next trip. The conversion of the furniture looks really easy and two bathrooms will be great. PLUS.......mom and dad get PRIVACY! Totally worth opening a sleeper sofa and pulling down a murphy bed to me;)

Agree 100%, a mod like this would be mega bucks!

Completely agree with your assessment. I can certainly see why some families would prefer a room configuration such as the one pictured (as opposed to a family suite) and why many would prefer resort theming more in line with the mods or deluxes. But a resort built for this style of room at Disney, even if billed as a plussed mod, would definitely end up priced on par with the deluxes. Now if it was priced on par with the AOA suites...????

When you travel with more than 4 people in your party, you are probably going to have to get two rooms. We used to stay near Disney in My Aunt's 2 bedroom duplex. Aunt, roommate, Parents, Grandma, and 3 kids. Yes, we were cramped and us kids were sleeping in sleeping bags on the floor.... but ya know.. we had a blast staying there and going to Disney! 5 Adults, 2 teens and a preteen....we made it work.

I don't think that Disney is going to be able to provide for every family dynamic out there....and at reasonable prices!

It's that same "attitude" in posts that had me lurking for years before I got up the nerve to post (and I still pick my responses carefully). *Hoping to stay away from the funky attitudes when I post*

I think that as long as they need to sell deluxe DVC membersips, they are not going to make a mod type suite.

And as a pp noted. If the pricing of a mod suite is anything like the pricing of the value suites at AoA, then two rooms is still less expensive.

I was gonna say the same. If AoA suites are the same price as a standard room at the moderates, i can just imagine what theyd charge for a fam suite at the moderte level.

$100 more than a mod.

Seems to me that the set-up as displayed in your photo is very similar to the cabins at FW.

$100 more than a mod.

How do you come up with that figure? Just looking at random dates, the suites at AOA are way more than double the cost of a standard room. The fall rate goes from $105 for a room to $265 for a suite. Going by that, the moderates would cost around $400 a night for a similar suite.

That configuration in the first photo doesn't work for my family of 6. Sure, I can put two of my kids in the bunk beds, but that still leaves me with two monkeys in the same room with DH and I (and likely in double beds). Not much of a vacation if I'm sleeping in a double bed with my kids three feet away. I have the same problem with many advertised "one-bedroom suites" -- if I want the four kids together in one room and DH and I in the other, the kids get the beds and we'd be on the pull-out couch. I'd rather pay for two rooms.

If you had one napper, the room pictured in this thread would be nice to close them off to convince them to sleep, but if you had two nappers, one would probably be too young for the top bunk!

The Family Suites at ASMu may not be perfect, but the bed setup was for us -- 4 kids in the front room in three beds, and a QUEEN in the bedroom. While I would love a DVC 2-bedroom, it is a lot more than I'm willing to pay.

I posted that the Suites are $100 MORE THAN a mod. A mod room goes for $188 to $213 regular season. AoA Suites are listed at $304 to $344 regular season.

I have no idea where you came up with $400 a night for a room at a mod from my post. I think you misread.

The AOA suites probably wouldn't work for us as I have two 6'4" teenage boys. DVC is way out of our budget. So, we've been forced to go offsite.

We have a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom condo booked at Wyndham Bonnet Creek for $176/night. For the same time frame, the Fort Wilderness Cabins (which have basically one bedroom and one bathroom plus a bed in the living room) is $310+ a night. AOA is $295 a night.

This means we can stay twice as long for the same price if we go offsite.

But the question was how much would a hypothetical family suite cost at a moderate resort, not how much a standard room costs.

People say they would like a suite option at the moderate level but if Disney priced such a room in the same way it does the value suites (more than double the cost of a standard room in the same resort), it would be pretty cost prohibitive for most families.

The fact is that no matter how you slice it, staying onsite costs more than a comparable room offsite. When you start looking at options that sleep 6+ the difference is magnified. Considering the price of the value suites, I don't think that's likely to change, although I do wonder if the rates for the family suites might go down in the future (relatively speaking, anyway). I always figured they were able to get away with charging so much for them (well over double the price of standard room for the same space as two rooms) because there weren't many suites. With the increased supply, it seems possible they could have trouble filling them at certain times. Probably not, though.

No. I was answering to goofyin toronto who said an AoA Suite was the same price as a room at a mod. I replied that the price was $100 more than a mod.

If you read through the thread you would see this, and see what I actually wrote as my opinion, which I will repost below...

So my opinion is similar to yours, even before you were so kind as to correct me, unnecessarily, for the second time in this thread.
