Why doesn't Caillou have any hair?

Caillou: Mom Rosie is bothering me

Mom: Oh Cailliou:cloud9:

Calliou: But mommmmm, she really is bothering me

Mom: Oh Caillou:goodvibes

Caillou: Mommmmmmmmmmmie, I just killed Rosie with an Axe

Mom: That's nice Caillou:grouphug:

UGHH! My dd loves it!

On top of his voice, his parents drive me nuts.

Oh look, Caillou is up at 4 am, well why don't we go down and fix some hot chocolate before we go back to sleep.....

Oh look, Caillou has to go pee right after we got him bundled up to go outside even though we just asked if he needed to use the bathroom...

Come on! They must have the patience of not just one, but may saints!

Do Caillou's parents have more than the sweatpants and sweatshirts on their backs? Do they own hairbrushes?

This is hilarious that someone else thinks this way...:lmao:

We were just talking about why he's 4 years old and bald as a billiard ball yet his younger sister has loads of hair---this was our intellectual conversation at school two days ago!

DS7's preschool teacher used to let his class watch this show all the time. This was a preschool in the public school district for kids with special needs. :sad2: Great show for them to watch. He came home one day singing the song so I bought 2 DVD's and let my kids watch them. What a mistake! It turned my kids into Caillou clones-whiny and demanding. I encouraged them to stop watching it and they did.

Caillou transformed my DH too. There was one epsidose where Caillou goes to the dentist and he's whining b/c "it'll hurt." DH had a FIT! "I can't think of a worse thing to put on a kids' show-that will just make them afraid before they even see a dentist!" He really took offense and ordinarily he doesn't get all worked up like that. He told me to make the kids STOP watching that show! :rotfl:

This was on another board, and the creators didn't give him hair so all children of any hair color could relate to him better. :confused3 Sounds like someone had one too many Child Psyc classes to me...

Of course his lack of hair doesn't bother me, it's his voice! I'd rather hear nails on a chalkboard!!!:scared1:

Caillou is actually on his second voice. They girl who did the original (for the the first 2 years I believe) was killed in a car accident.. She was 17/18

There was a thread about this years ago, and my DH has the same answer as he did back then. He says Caillou has terminal cancer.

All I know is that I was hoping for the narrator to one day say "Caillou's mother was tired of the unsufferable whining and smacked the snot out of Caillou"

Suzanne

:rotfl: :rotfl: Oh that might, just might make watching the show tolerable. Well, probably not! Thank goodness my kids are passed the Caillou age. We only watched it when I was feeling desperate anyway. When DS was an infant he spent a lot of time at the hospital and mom basically lived at our house taking care of my oldest. DD and grandma watched quite a bit of PBS, but even grandma drew the line at Caillou. She asked me one night, "What is with that whiny little brat who is bald anyway?" :rotfl: Ahhh, the question for the ages!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who finds this show (and characters) to be ridiculously annoying. How I hate Caillou. :rotfl:

You're a deep thinker Mr. N. Credible. ;)

Does Caillou's Dad not have a job? It seems like he's always home with the 2 brats. Not that there's anything wrong with being a stay at home dad, but I always wondered.

Caillou has no hair because of his whining..... one day his Mom "snatched him bald headed" which I think means pulled him by the hair so hard it all came out. It's a phrase I've heard my whole life... not sure if it's a Maine thing or what. I'm sure that's what happened to him though.... he's one annoying kid.

Caillou means BALD in french ..

An expression used a lot here...Ton Caillou, meaning your scalp..

One must remember the origin of the movie..A french province.

Caillou is the ONLY show my DD's (2 & 4) want to watch. I really dislike his bratty behavior, but my girls are like zombies when they watch it. Being a stay-at-home-mom, I sometimes NEED them in a zombie state, so we continue to tivo it. I try to point out several times during the show that Caillou is not being a good boy, or that's not the way we should handle things. I try to turn it into a learning "how not to act" lesson, but sometimes my DD's are guilty of picking up some of Caillou's bad habits (i.e. the awful whining).

I'm just waiting for the day Caillou's mom will lose it and give him the spanking he really deserves that is so long overdue. :)
