Why doesn't anyone like The Plaza?

we love the plaza but agree that it isn't a good deal if you're on the dining plan. negatives for me are that sometimes service can be slow and to get to the bathrooms you have to exit the restaurant (problem mainly if it's raining imo). i like going there when we have a diverse group of eaters. it's a basic american menu so depending on what you're looking for that can be good or bad. they have a burger and chicken sandwich on the menu so that makes it like other venues inside the mk but i think the quality there is more like maybe an applebees rather than a burger king like the quick service venues. but they also have items not at the other qs or ts places for instance, my husband loves being able to get a reuben, i like salads for lunch when we're doing a signature place for dinner so it works for us.

The vegetable sandwich there is the best :) I love the plaza, as it usually isn't overcrowded and is less expensive. We don't use DDP, but even if you were using DDP, does every meal have to be the most expensive thing you can get your hands on?
Love the mozzarella sandwich....heaven. We always eat at the Plaza, it's a family favorite. We have always had good service and the food has been consistently good. Is it a great use of a TS credit?? Maybe not. But counter service it isn't.

Love LTT for lunch, refuse to eat dinner there again. And Tony's just doesn't get it done for me either. Tried it twice and both times is was mediocre. I think the MK has a real lack of 'good' food options, especially for dinner. You really have to leave the park if you want a good meal. BUT, that's just my opinion.

I agree with everyone else.. it's more about the value on the DDP. It's definitely NOT a restaurant I'd use my TS credit for if I was on the DDP.

We ate there oop in March and really enjoyed our meal. (Service on the other hand.... :sad2:).

We have been coming to WDW since 76 and have eaten many meals, with and without kids, grandkids, etc, been on the dining plan etc. I don't care for LTT but absolutely love the Plaza. I am delighted most DP people skip it.

It's the best table service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. Now, that doesn't say much about the state of dining in the Magic Kingdom, but there you go.

It could also have something to do with the fact that the menu looks completely pedestrian. That's not meant as a commentary on the quality of the food, which is fine, but it's rare that I find myself saying "man, I NEED a chicken sandwich."

I really like The Plaza. We'd overlooked it for a number of years in favor of the character meals at MK. We ate there last year and it was so good. One of the best burgers I've had at WDW.

We don't use the TS dining plan however. 20% discount with TIW. The Reuben sandwich is consistently excellent - stupendous corned beef, although more cheese and sauerkraut is often in order. The steak sandwich, turkey sandwich are also great. They have added a platter (often meatloaf) for dining plan participants, but there is only one choice, I believe.

Havent been there in a couple years but really liked it when we went there. The service was really good, sad to hear it's gone down hill...

We love the Plaza but think of it more like a lunch place, no dinner. The fries are the best in all of WDW

DH failed to mention in the above post that they make a mean chololate milkshake. Always enough for us to share. :drinking1

We  the Plaza. Great food at great prices (by Disney standards). I think it's not as popular because of it's casual menu and limited selection. Ok by me because I can always get an ADR there :thumbsup2.

We love the Plaza. Maybe people don't consider it a good value on the dining plan because it isn't as expensive. It also is a very small dining room and I do remember we were really hungry and it was long wait outside to get a table. I think our ADR was for 5:30 and it was 6:10 or later before we got in. That was during free dining though so it was to be expected.
It was one of my favorites on that trip once we finally got in. Simple yummy food and quaint atmosphere.:goodvibes

We use to eat at the Plaza many times a year, but after menu changes over and over again in the past years, we no longer find anything to our taste. This use to be a must do. My DH loved the ice cream choices here, but we tend to go to B&C for the ice cream now. We eat only at LTT for a sit down at MK now. Not for the bang though, since we are not on the DDP (TiW cardholder). We like the food at lunch time better at LTT. (We don't do buffets at all anymore either.)

The Plaza is one of the few places left in the Magic Kingdom to get a good lunch. I think most people either don't know (or forget) it's there or go "tourist" with the more themed restaurants. Liberty Tree Tavern is still a decent place to eat and we like the Crystal Palace for breakfast. Cinderella's Royal Table (formerly know as "King Stefan's Banquet Hall") has been just plain ruined.

We love the food at the Plaza- fresh, light, but satisfying.
It just doesn't have much theming, which is probably why people prefer other places for a TS.
However, the prices are very good for TS, making up for the theming, IMO.

Completely agree. It's a nice break from the heat, crowds, etc. Not too heavy, and it feels like an out-of-the-way eatery since it isn't in demand.

We are looking forward to trying the Plaza for the first time. We will be on the DDP but will pay oop for this meal.

The Plaza is a must-do for us on each trip. We love their club sandwiches, but we get it on multi-grain bread instead of the new sandwich with sourdough. It's a great value for the fresh sandwich, big enough for my daughter and I to split, too. We've had one bad server over probably 10-12 visits.
