Why does RAC only operate from 5am to 1pm?

Correct - neither Magical Express nor RAC would be available for Dolphin/Swan Guests. However, if you were to stay at a Disney-owned resort, AirTran is a participating airline - so you would be able to check your luggage through to your home airport and check in for your flight at your resort's RAC counter, then get back to MCO any way you choose. Your luggage would next be seen on the luggage carousel at your home airport.

Ahh, I see. That is a nice service. :thumbsup2

And yes, Diane, I have rented a car every trip I have ever taken there, so no DME yet for me. So RAC goes with DME?
You can ride your yak back to MCO and still use RAC Dan. Disney makes it seem as if RAC is part of DME but it isn't.

It appears that like DME, RAC would not be available for Swan/Dolphin?
Not yet, but wouldn't it be nice??? Other resorts, in other locals offer this....sure would be nice if the S/D did.

BAGS offers remote checkin in some Starwood, Westin, Hyatt and Marriott properties. The service normally costs $10-$20 per passenger. I wonder if hotels like S/D would have a problem offering a pay service Disney offers for free. They shouldn't. S/D charges for parking.

Does anyone know when SoG will start offering remote checkin and what the cost to the guest will be?

Available information suggests SoG will be offering remote checkin shortly.

I have also been to conventions where they were located at the convention site to take bags the last days of the convention.

Have to agree....if S/D charged for RAC, people would still use it. I know I would. I figure once SoG offers it, S/D will be sure to follow.

Darn! Sure wish S/D had both DME (at least I would try it, but do like having that car there) and certainly the RAC.

The people with the really early morning flights are the only ones impacted. YOu can pretty much check those bags up to 12 hrs before flight departure. But if you have an 8am or earlier flight, you can't use RAC. You have to be done with your checkin no less than 3 hrs before flight time....it takes about 10 mins to get it all done...but sometimes more. So, if you get there right at 5am, you can't use it for a flight that's earlier than 8:15, and even that is going to be iffy. I wish they would open the desk earlier, but I have to wonder who would be using it then...there isn't a huge need for RAC that early.

:scared1: I was all excited about RAC at BLT but we have a 7am flight. So we will not be allowed to use this service:sad1:
