Why Does No One Talk About the Drum Show in Pandora?

I'm throwing some love to the drum show in Pandora.

We had no idea it existed. I had never heard of it (come on Disers - I spend way more time than I care to admit here and no one has mentioned it). We were poking around that area after Navi, waiting the 15 mins for our FOP FP window to open. We were exploring that area and saw other people making the instruments sound. DS5 loves the drums (sigh - I fear it's going to be loud in my garage someday). So he was goofing around and out come people dressed like they might be Pandora CMs. They start playing with him. Then they start a show. They played some pretty cool percussion music in a Navi style with lots of audience participation. Lots of fun. The guys who did the show when we were there were very good about engaging the audience. DS really liked it and I pulled all our kids into playing an instrument for the last song. I was worried I was going to have to drag them away from it to go hit our FP window on the early side. But no. It was a perfectly timed 15 minutes of cool percussion music and audience participation.

So if you're in Pandora with 15 minutes to kill, check out the drum show. It added nicely to the Pandora atmosphere and if you don't check out the show, at least go over there and beat on the drums and shells.

Yeah, last September we kind of found the drums by accident and loved that "secret" bonus, but I had no idea it's been developed into a real performance now. Yay! I hope it's still there this coming September. LOVE Pandora.

I think they had the drum show when Pandora first opened, and it actually was longer than what it is now. Then they took it away for some time, before modifying it slightly and bringing it back at the end of February. I did see bits and pieces of it and it was a nice way to get kids involved and excited.

They did it in November. We like it but I have to say for us it was really overshadowed by the drum show in Africa with the sisters (can't think what it's called). I could have watched that all day--little kids kept wandering up to participate and they did a great job incorporating them. I was generally really impressed with the entertainment in Africa. I think next time instead of going to Nomad we may just get cocktails and hangout in Africa for a few hours.

It was open during the grand opening and shortly after. But months after, everytime I went to Pandora there was no show and no CM's anywhere near it. Just a spot people would sit near. Many didn't even know there was drums there.

Someone I know left working at Universal and now works in Pandora doing the drums so I'm assuming their incorporating more drum shows nowadays

I didn't like it very much. It was very, very obvious that the performers weren't actually playing the drums, just mimicking (aka faking).

If the performers were actually playing the drums, instead of faking it to the soundtrack, then I would be much more interested.

We came across the Pandora drum show during our last of the season wander through AK in early April. I found it interesting. Perhaps because of my high school garage band drummer history. As usual the performers were energetic and entertaining.

I enjoy the various 'street shows' around the parks though we frequently don't watch for too long as most are just too loud. We try to find a place close enough to watch but far enough away not to assault our ears.

You just missed the time of the show then. I mean, they didn't run continual. There is only a few a day so yeah, if you were around when there wasn't one then there would be no CM anywhere near it.

It's been discussed in the Everything Pandora thread since it began, and there's videos of it, at least in the original form. I don't know if the new version's video has been added or not.

We happened upon it and it was good. Nothing to plan around (in my opinion) but it had the audience engaged. One of those things you walk by and decide to stop for a few minutes and watch.

Really? I admit to not paying too close attention but I did not come away thinking that. In fact, kids can go up at other times and hit the drums and they are electrified - you actually hear an amped sound in response.

So I just went and watched a video on youtube and I'm 99 percent certain they are playing.

When we were there, I'm pretty sure they were playing.
The show is fun to watch and they interact well with the crowd. But, I wouldn't make a special effert just to go see the drum show.

Yes it stopped for a period of time and began a revamped version in February.
