Why Does It Take So Long To Get Luggage at BDL (Hartford/Springfield)?

I thought the new terminal would solve the problem. (At least Bradley looks like a "real airport" versus a third world bus station now.)

So why does it still take 40 to 45 minutes for luggage to get from the aircraft to the belt in baggage claim?!!??

I fly 3-4 times a year and have never, ever waited that long. It's usually 10-15 minutes after I get to the luggage area. The longest wait we had was last November, on Delta. Our bags were at the end (and we probably missed one the first time around), so it was 20 minutes.

We always fly into BDL and have never had a problem waiting for luggage. Wea re always back at our car and on the road home within 30 minutes of landing.

My fiance and I are flying out from Bradley on our trip to Disney in about a week, I hope we don't have this problem when we return. My fiance has flown through Bradley numerous times, however, and everytime I pick him up we have no trouble getting his bags and getting on the road very quickly...hopefully whatever problem made your bags take so long has been fixed, Bradley is so convienent instead of having to drive to NY.

I've had on and off problems at PIT & MCO. The last time we waited at least 30 minutes at PIT before any bags started coming down. Then there have been other times when they came right away. I think it has alot to do with how many flights come in at the same time and how many baggage handlers they have working. One time we waited well over an hour at PIT around midnight because the baggage mechanical system broke down. Our flight was delayed two hours by weather (thunderstorms on the east coast) and then a long wait for luggage, we were not happy campers.

DebbieB, I can't tell you how many long waits I had for luggage when I lived in PIT. Sometimes the wait was longer than the flight was.

MCO is much better but the last time I flew I waited almost an hour here for my luggage. The airport was very busy.

The max. we have ever waited for the luggage to get to us at Bradley was 10 mins. and that was before the new terminal.

same for me but I haven't flown out of Bradley since the new terminal opened. My SIL just got back from Texas and said something about waiting for luggage but I didn't think anything of it at the time. Maybe something has changed with the new terminal.

If anything the luggage gets there faster, or, maybe it seems so because it is a bit of a walk from the gate to the luggage pickup area. Still only about 10 mins.
