Why does HS close at 8PM?

With HS being at capacity almost every day, why does it close at 8PM? Why not keep it open until 10PM?

With the way hoppers work right now, I am sure Disney has the numbers for guest with or without hoppers. Lower numbers of hoppers means less people at night. Might not be a good chunk of guests and they know staying open would cost them more money than staying open.

I think they are hoping the HS guests will be more encouraged to park hop. HS will reach capacity regardless of their closing time. I think people are more inclined to upgrade tickets to park hoppers with HS closing earlier. Also, it pushes people to spend money at Epcot festivals and in park dining.

This year. They have been a cash cow every other year. Even if they "lost" money while being closed how much was saved in operational expense and payroll. . . . .

Yes. But why would they stay open longer when they can fill to capacity even when closing earlier? They keep the shops and restaurants open past 8 because those make them money. The rides don’t make them any money so they have no reason to keep them open later. They already have the money you paid to go on rides the minute you enter the park.

There is no way this is true. Maybe early on during the pandemic after they reopened, but not now.

ROTR operates on a boarding pass system anyway, so they could easily close it before the other rides in the park.

There definitely not making what they used to. Less people , closed or limited restaurants and limited people into shops. This dosent even consider the extra cleaning etc. Yes, there loosing money. A lot of it. Addtionally, they dont have a nightly show , so they will save money by less shifts and operating costs at night. Full capacity as it is now does not equal $$$$ . They made much more before.

Yes, and how could they not be at this point? Their 35 percent attendance gap is basically a normal day during old non-peak times. Their ticket prices are the same. And while there may be some extra costs associated with cleaning (doubtful it is that significant), they have also slashed other expenses to the bone. No shows, no character meet and greets, no fireworks, and no parades equals a huge cost savings for them.

But dont forget that they still have to offset the losses of there other parks. Last quarter they lost over 2 billion from the park division. So , they are still hurting and cutting costs to survive. If people are going and paying full price for less stuff , then why not do it.

I don't think we are saying different things. They will not keep the park rides open later because that is not a moneymaker for them right now. They don't care about the rides because people already paid for those when they bought their tickets. They will only extend moneymakers like merchandise and food at this point.
