Why does everyone love the H2O products so much?

I know for me, while I think they're great products, a lot of it has to do with bringing back memories of the cruise. I like to have a few travel size bottles lying around the house so that six months after my last cruise when I'm feeling down and wishing I were there I can pull some out and be reminded of happy memories!

I couldn't resist reading this thread just because it's such perfect bait for that small subset of Disney cruise fans who can't handle hearing someone say that every single thing about DCL might not be "OMG THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER IN THE HISTORY OF AMAZING!!!!!". And sure enough, it was sufficiently amusing to kill a few minutes of my time.

Personally I like the products on the ships well enough. I wouldn't go out of my way to hoard it or seek it out, but it's adequate for a week and the scent is nice. My favourite thing is actually the containers since I hate those little hard bottles that you can never empty and have a cap that's not attached and requires two hands to open, but that's just me. I understand that frequent cruisers may like having the scent around to remind them of their trips since smell is the sense most closely linked to memory. But there's liking and there's being fanatical. I can totally get that others may not like the stuff.

uh oh.....

i see u r relatively new to these boards....

if u ever want to stir up trouble here, pick on H2O stuff....

Oh I'm not new, been on for a really long time but don't post much. I figured it would start a problem but I honestly want to know. I really don't get it. And rather than donate it, I would leave it there and not use it.
Im not flaming anyone. To ME it is junk.

I agree with @bumbershoot that the perception of shampoo varies from hair type to hair type. For my hair the H2O shampoo and conditioner are horrible. I look like a mop when I use it. My partner however loves it and his hair is wonderful and soft when using it.

I also think it is so popular because it has a very distinctive scent that reminds people of how much they enjoyed the cruise. It is also a true unisex scent, not too sweet and not too masculin, just very neutral. I think that this helps with the general appeal.

Personally I love the body lotion (never had the body butter, started cruising just after this was changed) as it is very light and not greasy at all. I find that true of all the other H2O body lotions I have tried at Disney (I still mourn the aquatic series they used to have at the WDW resorts). To me that is a sign of quality, but for someone else who prefers a very heavy body lotion, they might not like this.

Thank you for an honest reply.

I do like the h2o products but mostly the scent just reminds me of my vacation.

We did get "into" using these products after our first cruise, mostly because of the scent and memories. Over time, however, I found some of their facial products/shower gels I really like and my husband loves the shaving cream. Some of their items I find a good quality for my money, especially if they are on sale- (Optimum cleanser for me). All personal choice for us.

I am not a big fan of the ship H2O products b/c I just don't care for the sea marine scent ... we use some of what they give us, but don't bring home extras. I do, however, love the grapefruit scented H20 products at the WDW resorts ... I use them liberally and bring home all the extras for sure!

Not a fan. They seem to have a drying effect on both my hair and skin. I save them and give them to a local church thrift shop. I also took a bag of them over to Cuba, when we visited two years ago- along with aspirin, asthma meds, crayons, bunches of things.
Last September, our steward left a few of those small blue Elemis bottles. I think Concierge gets them. Now,that shampoo made my hair look great!

While I, on the other hand, can't use Elemis. It makes my hair look like the proverbial haystack. Found that out on Holland America (they use Elemis products). Now, when we cruse with them, I bring my own stuff.

Yep, I bring my own stuff also. Just started using Wen,so that will be going with me next week.......if I can get it into those smaller travel bottles......

To each his own. I'm not in love with the products, but we pack as lightly as possible, so I use the products when we are on the ship. Honestly, I don't even remember what it does to my hair! Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't go nuts over how my hair looks when I'm on vacation so I don't really care what the products do. I wash it, sometimes I dry it (usually if we about to go to dinner and I want to look semi-presentable) Plus, with the change in humidity, temperature, etc. I tend to not be able to control my hair like I can when I'm at home.

That being said, I do take one bottle of each product home with me as a souvenir. I do love putting the lotion in my purse and using it throughout the day. The scent reminds me of the cruise. Is it the highest quality product, absolutely not! Would I go out of my way to buy it - nope! But it puts a smile on my face when I smell it! (PS - I also have Laila perfume and body lotion to remind me of the Norway pavilion. Obviously, I bought that!)

We're doing a B2B next week- 5 day San Diego to Vancouver, then 7 day Vancouver through Alaska. I think it's our third B2B. I think our first was the 2014 WBTA and then the Soutnern Caribbean out and back into San Juan. We're waiting for that same TA itinerary to pop up again. It was wonderful- Barcelona,Malaga,Canary Islands, then onto St.Kitts,Antigua,Grenada.... Just terrific!
