I was just curious, why does the CM ask you if you will be dining on the dining plan when booking your dining reservations?

Is it to possibly stop you from making an ADR at a resturant not on the dining plan?
-or-
Do they allow only so many tables for DDP patrons?

Just curious?

I think it is so you don't go over your total number of TS credits and don't end up paying OOP. :)

I'm not sure...but it could be that when they put in the ADR's for the day, they note on it that you are on the Dining Plan so your server is aware of it...although they usually ask again (I noticed this on several screens with the ADR's that it said DDP next to your name--along with if you were celebrating a special occasion).

If they know you are, they will advise you if your ADR is a 2 TS restaurant amoung other things.

So they can give you correct information regarding dining. If you are on the dining plan they will tell you how many credits the restaurant requires and they will know for special bookings like CRT if anything should be charged to your credit card.

They note it on the reservation so that the restaurant knows.

They need to be able to give dining plan related information (one credit or two, reminder for 2008 guests that appetizer and gratuity are no longer included), and they need to know, for pre-paid meals, not to charge your card immediately. They probably also use the info to track dining plan useage in general, to get an idea of what percentage of restaurant customers are on the plan.

I'm pretty sure Colleen's right. I asked this when I was making my DDP ADRs because I decided not to use the DDP for CG and just pay out of pocket for it. I asked the CM if it mattered how I was paying and she told me yes the restaurant needs to know in advance so they know how you're paying. I dont think it has anything to do with how many available reservations there are.

I also agree with Colleen. I'm sure there's at least one person at WDW whose job it is to report those statistics.
