Why does DHS have such terrible food?

I just don't get it :confused3 Disney owns the majority of CS restaurants in WDW but DHS scores tons of negative reviews for CS food or options. What is different from DHS CS vs. CS in the rest of The World?

I don't know what is different about DHS with the CS, but I have to agree that all their CS IMO leaves a lot to be desired. We either do TS there or no food at all.

We never, EVER eat at MGM anymore. All the CS AND the TS restaurants are sub par. I just don't know what to say....:confused3 It is the worst food in all of WDW and......just don't do it..

I have to agree. We always to the 50's prime time each trip for the kids, and it is not bad - just not great. We've yet to find much else that we really enjoy.

We usually just enjoy a resort dinner on the days we are at DHS.

so if you don't want to leave the studios to have a meal, which is the best of the worst?????:confused3

Rosie's All American Cafe across from Beauty & the Beast stage show isn't half bad if you must eat in the park at CS.

Does anyone know anything about Starring Rolls? I read somewhere (I think it was in a WDW guidebook) that they have sandwiches that aren't half bad. I wonder if that might be a decent option? Has anyone ever tried them for lunch?

I normally get something fresh from Anaheim Produce or a pulled pork salad from Toluca Turkey Legs. Starring Rolls has good pastries, but I haven't tried lunch. Maybe I'll do that in September and report back :)

My family and I have had never noticed anything wrong with the food at Hollywood Studios. We enjoy going to the ABC Commissary, however if others don't seem to like it along with their other counter service locations that is their choice.

We like The Brown Derby and Sci Fi but can't stand the rest of them.

I actually also haven't found the cs food at DHS awful. It doesn't have a huge variety like Epcot and we have in the past generally gone with Sci Fi or Prime Time when we were at DHS. However, in June, we tried ABC Commissary for the first time in a long while and we loved it. My kids were starved, it was hot and we went in for an early lunch. Dh and I split a Cuban sandwich and this Asian salad. The kid got fish and chips. It was all very good, in fact the sandwich was outstanding. It came with plantain chips which were also very good and a bit unique (they will gladly sub fries for the plantain chips). I found their menu to have a nice mix of standby's (burgers, fish and chips) and something different (the Asian salad, a curry bowl and the Cuban sandwich). In fact, we returned a couple of more times before the end of our two week trip. That sandwich in particular was delicious. A recent thread about this place had lots of people talking about how much they liked it. I also enjoyed the atmosphere, it was nice and cool and I got to have a booth to sit in which was really nice!

We also love Sci Fi and Prime Time, in fact, in twelve trips to WDW, we have eaten at Sci Fi every single time. We just love the atmosphere and the burgers.

I have to say we love the Brown Derby (TS). We have received axcellent food & beverages there and some of the best service anywhere on property (Ryan from Cambridge & Ashely from Cocoa Beach). At 2 TS credits its something most folks on DDP aren't willing to try, but we adore it!

Prime Time, food was okay but our server was a dud, personality wise--& we can take that in stride-- but seriously lacking in any sort of efficiency. We noticed 2 or 3 other servers around us who were bright & cheery as well as right on top of things, so we will go back someday.
H&V was nothing special but we had a good time.
CS:
In May we tried Studio Catering Company for the 1st time & liked it well enough, too. DH had the Grilled Chicken with Rice and Black Beans which he enjoyed & I had the pulled pork sandwich. There are better pulled pork sandwiches on property (Flame Tree) but it wasn't nasty, just blah & very dry. I'll get the grilled chicken & rice if we go back.

We enjoy the ABC commissary both for the atmosphere--kinda Deco, greens & cooling--& for the food & ample seating. We also like the Cuban sandwich & the breakfast offerings.

I liked 50s PT if you take it for what it is, experience and all. This time we will be trying the Brown Derby. I've heard completely mixed reviews.

We've been to 50's PT twice and really enjoyed ourselves both time--plus, we thought the food was pretty good! So, I guess I'm in the minority here--b/c there's definitely one place I'd eat at--and we're doing it for a 3rd time this December!

Backlot express wasnt bad for burgers
Pizza Planet was decent fast food pizza/ salad
We enjoyed Mama Ms
PT 50s is a family fave:cool1:
((just my humble opinions)):goodvibes

:cool1: As an after-thought, if you're hungry and can't seems to find anything **good** cant you just get some yum~yums from the bakery or confectionary? (after all, you're on vaca! ))

I have to disagree, three times, with the premise of this thread. D-HS has one of the five best CS in the theme parks, IMHO, in the ABC Commissary. D-HS also has the ultimate Disney dining experience, in the 50s Prime Time Cafe, melding together great food and superlative theming. And D-HS boasts one of the better fine dining experiences in the theme parks, in the Brown Derby.

As far as counter service we eat at Rosie's Cafe and as far as Tb Serv. We eat at Prime Time or Mamma Melrose and we never had a problem the only one we don't got to anymore is Si Fi. They changed there dinner menu and we don care for it anymore.

I agree, somewhat.

I think the ABC Commissary is one of the best CS in all or WDW. And Mama Melrose is ok as well, but it's just ok, nothing great.

The others are subpar to say the least. H&V, Sci Fi , 50's Prime Time are all far below average with the later 2 counting on gimmicks to get folks to dine there.

That being said do yourselves a favor and visit the Anaheim Produce carts on your way down to the Tower of Terror for some great, fresh fruit. My wife and I found this place years ago and it's always a must visit for us on each trip. Nothing like a nice, cold watermelon wedge to get that energy kicking again!
