Why Does ABC Commissary Have a Bad Rep?

We ate there about a year ago and enjoyed it. It obviously wasn't the best food in the entire world but we didn't find anything wrong with it. I can't remember what we ordered, but I believe I had a cheeseburger & fries and it was just fine.

We're really not too hard to please though as far as CS goes. As long as it's food we're good, LOL.

I haven't eaten there in several years but the last time we did, it was really bad. Both hamburgers had really hard dried out stale buns, meat was almost cold, lettuce was wilted, and tomatoes were actually spoiled. We had eaten there a few months before and also got lukewarm food that time.

I hadn't thought about it until now, but I haven't had a burger at WDW since.

I am one of those who make a point not to eat there. (And pretty much the same for any counter service at the Studios.)
Probably about a year ago we resolved ourselves to eat at ABC.
The menu was very lacking in choices. We generally do whatever we can to not eat Disney's burgers. (Cold burgers, crappy buns. And questionable meat, unless you like tasteless beef with gristle.)
I ordered a kid's meal -- a ham and cheese roll-up -- and it was pretty good! I suppose that means it is no longer on the menu. An adult may want to order two. But at least it was decent.

I'm not sure but i am guessing that its because they don't have the best food. I have gone there once and it was plain old Disney CS.

Seriously, the food is good average CS stuff. Limited selection, limited qulaity all that you would expect from Disney CS.

As for accomidaitons, it is one of the best, maybe thee best in the whole studio park. Nice tables and chairs, well kept, OK rest rooms.

So for those that do not llike the place, thank you. More table options for us.

I just wanted to add that I also think it has a great atmosphere and it's nice watching those television clips of those ABC shows and etc. Plus it's a great place to relax at during the summer months to get out of the heat.

We went their two October's ago. I had the Cuban sandwhich, my wife and mom had burgers and my son had chicken nuggets! My meal was "ok", DW and DM hated the burgers; so much so, that i was told that we were not going to ABC on this years trip!

We have eaten a couple of time at the Studio Catering Co. Its over by the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground thingie. Give it a try.

The few time we ate there it was AWFUL...MY husband found a hairball in his Fish n chips( I am not kidding...it was a ball of black hair which none of us have).My burger was completely charred the first time, then completely bright red the 2nd.The cuban sandwich we had the previous time was wet/slimy

DS's first trip he was 4 years old and ABC Commissary is where we ate on our very first day for lunch. He had the kids chicken. DS liked it very much. Up to that point ds had not had a lot of fried foods and never liked any form of fried chicken or french fries. We ended up going back several times during that first trip. And he gobbled it all up. ABC Commissary is a wonderful part of our Disney Memories.

I really have to say we tried this place twice, also. They had the absolutely worst burgers I've ever had. My DH, who is not a picky eater at all, said his fish and chips were horrible. We decided to give it a second chance the next time we went, figuring maybe we just went on an off day or something. It was just as bad the next time. There won't be a third!

We ate there in June and like it. I was reluctant to eat there because of all the really bad reviews on the boards but it was a late EMH night and basically it was the only thing open. DS and DH both got burgers, it wasn't a double burger but they thought the meat patty was bigger than just a regular burger. I got the chicken cordon blue and it was very good also. It's not my favorite place to eat but to me it's just as good as the other burger type places.

The last two times I ate there it was awful. I won't go back.

At one time they really had some tasty and different things.
This is unrelated to the OPs comments, I'm glad they enjoyed their meal, but in the end I feel like those of us who want consistently decent quality food should just go away.
Disney does not want us and I feel most of the Disney uberfans would prefer if we go away also.

I think it boils down to expectations. It used to be a better place than it is now, but that can be said for some of the other CS locations at WDW. They have done well with adding variety at some of the CS locations, but at others, they have really dumbed down the menu. There doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency - except that most of the time, regardless of which CS I go to, I get a cold burger that doesn't even melt the cheese. Between that and the crumbly buns, I don't get CS burgers anymore - only TS ones (at least they're hot).

When we remember a restaurant fondly, but they've taken away all the good things that made that particular restaurant special, it's harder to generate positive feelings. It's different for someone who is eating there for the first time - because they are judging the quality based on now instead of then. So there will always be people who like a particular restaurant, and those who don't. So long as we share our feedback as to WHY we feel one way or the other (instead of just "I love it!" or "I hate it and won't go back!", then I think both sides should be heard so others can make up their own mind whether to give it a go or not.

I used to think that ABC was the best of a bunch of bad choices at DHS, but now that they've taken the Cuban sandwich and the banana chips off the menu, I'll just snack at DHS and eat elsewhere after we leave the park. I love the counter service choices at MK, Epcot and AK, but there's really nowhere at DHS that I care to eat. I can't figure out why there aren't better options at DHS.

I had breakfast at the ABC a few years ago, and it was so bad that ended up throwing it out and going hungry. And during a trip last year I decided not to eat instead of going in there again. When a restaurant can't even make a breakfast sausage edible, then I shudder to think what they do with food they actually have to cook!

I've been a defender of ABC over the years, but I'm done with this place. The took the Cuban off the menu & didn't replace it with anything as far as I can tell.

We ate there a few years ago and the only one of us who enjoyed their meal was my older son who had the Cuban. Looks like even he won't want to go back with the Cuban gone.

We ate breakfast there on our last trip and boy was that a mistake. We got there shortly after opening and we were the only ones there and the food was horrible. THe bagel on my sandwich was hard as a rock and it hurt to chew. What made it worse was that it was ice cold. We didn't even finish them.

I loved the ABC simply for the Cuban. Nothing else ever seemed to appeal to me and if the Cuban is not on the menu anymore I don't know if I'll go there again.
