Why do you stay on-site?

Once I land in Orlando....I can't wait for the bus to take me
into the "bubble".......I love that bubble:love:
Everytime I leave.....I'm planning when I can go back:goodvibes

That is why "offsite" is NOT an option

Knowing we can hop the monorail or take a relativly short ride back to our room to take a break and still return to the parks-- never being too far away and leaving the all- encompassing feel of Disney. It's not overload, it's comfort.

Pretty much what others have said. Plus we fly, so staying on-site we don't have to deal with the hassle and expense of renting a car and everything that goes with that.

But my main reason? We did stay off property Christmas of...either 1999 or 2000 (I think the latter...but I'm not positive). I don't know if we just planned too late to get something on property or what, but that's beside the point. We were at the Courtyard that's not too far away. CM sis was going to meet us every day and we'd load into her car and drive wherever we were going. I worked in a church and had to keep the early Christmas Eve nursery. Where one of the little darlings passed along a wonderful intestinal virus to me. Christmas Day (arrival) I was fine. I was fine during the early morning and test track, though in line I started feeling a little nauseous. By the time we were waiting for the Energy pre-show, I was really feeling sick and seeing stars. I made it to the trash can, but lost everything in my stomach. The CMs around were wonderful ~ they actually assumed we'd been on Body Wars. I thought I was ok after a peppermint, but got sick while we were on the ride (didn't mess up the car...sis's backpack contained everything) and we trotted to First Aid. I spent just over an hour there and we thought I was fine. We went into the Millennium Village and I got sick again. So sis took me back to the hotel ~ necessitating leaving the parking lot and giving up a pretty decent space and risking the park being at Level 3 or 4 when she got back (it being Christmas week and all). If we'd been on property, I could have gone back on my own and Mom, Daddy and Sis could have checked on me much more easily.

After that, we definitely decided it's on property or nothing for us.

(I did make it aroudn MGM the next day and was generally ok... Daddy got sick on the plane home and even a few days later gave me the trooper of the year award...he didn't know how I'd done anything the next day.)

Location, free transportation, easy transportation, and Disney theming that you just can't get anywhere else.

The magic!

1. Magical Express - they handle the luggage & away we go!
2. No room key/car keys to hold on to, just your park tickets
3. The convenience of the bus - no worries about driving
4. Bypassing the huge parking lots
5. The deluxe dining card
6. The convenience of the package drop off
7. The giftshops at the resorts
8. The magic, magic, magic!

That's the word...Bubble!!!

Do not want to step out of it.....or have someone pop it....its like a drug...lol

I dont know how else to explain it!! THis is MY opinion of course:)
I love everything Disney:) Our miracle, magical DD (15 mths now) was born 3 yrs later on our Fairytale Wedding Anniv....so June 28 is so special, especially when DH and I never thought we would have a child of our own to bring back to this Magical Place:)
Sorry...ranting....raving....misbehaving....off topic..sorry

We love to stay ON site!!!

  • Staying onsite is part of the Disney-appeal.
  • It is more magical to stay onsite for reason stated above.
  • Disney Transportation.
  • Magical Express.
  • 1 pass for everything: park, dining and room.
  • Package drop-off.

The main reason I stay onsite is because of overall convenience. We have never rented a car while visiting WDW, so ME is essential for us. I also like the "magic" of being on WDW property. I stay at Marriotts, Hyatts, and Sheratons a lot, so coming back to one at the end of a day in WDW feels wrong to me. :)

Convenience, convenience, convenience. And after that, atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. Have fun !! :thumbsup2

Magic never ends when you stay on property

We love having the bus drive us on site. We love being able to hop from park to park and resorts.

nothing beats a short bus ride back in the afternoon for a swim and nap then bus back to another park that night.

No driving, no strip malls, no outside world

Makes it special for us

I agree here.

We also stay to be part of the magic. My family and I don't just go to Disney to go to the parks. We spend just as much time,if not more, at our hotel so being on site and relaxing "in the bubble" is Disney magic to us!

The Disney magic does it for me. As soon as I'm on Disney property everything seems special, I'm not in the real world anymore. When I've stayed off-site I lose something every time I drive by a chain restaurant, a Wal-Mart, a cheap T-**** outlet, etc... I prefer to not deal with the real world while I'm on vacation.

I absolutely agree.

I stayed off-site for years because it was all my parents could afford. It was absolutely a 'downer' to have to leave the World, go to the parking lot, get in the car, sit in the car while sloooowwwllyy rolling to the timeshare on 192. I loathed it and told myself when I grew up and started making my own money I'd stay on-site.

Well, I stayed off-site at my parent's timeshare when I took my then DD3 for her first visit and let me tell you, that gauntlet from the timeshare to the parks and back to the timeshare for an afternoon nap then back to the parks was a pain in the 'proverbial'. Ever since then we've stayed onsite whether it be the Polynesian, POFQ or Pop. The convenience, not to mention the extra magic hours, make it all worth it. :thumbsup2

Our 12 year old son is in a wheelchair so the simplicity of the Disney transportation makes staying on-site a no-brainer for us.

I work in the real(medical) world thankfully I don't have to vacation there so we don't....we go "home" to our place in fantasyland as often as possible:yay: for me vacation=escape from reality if you had to leave every night that would just ruin it. Magic 24/7. a place where a single mom can go with her child and feel relatively safe and someone else worries about cleaning, cooking, driving and the 9 million other things a single parent has to think about all I have to do is pay them and then show up and have fun...sign me up

There are a few reasons I like to stay onsite.

1) I like to be immersed in the "magic."
2) I like not having to drive anywhere.
3) Extra Magic Hours!!
4) I like the resorts and the theming.

We stayed offsite many years ago. It was a beautiful condo in Kissimmee. But having to drive there was a hassle. And I was super-envious of those who were just staying there. I just wouldn't want to do it again. I don't want to pay for parking. We like to leave the park in the afternoon and come back. It's not as much of a hassle if you are onsite. I don't want to rent a car. I don't want to drive. I just want to stay at Disney!

We stay on property for the extras that are provided by Disney. Two years ago, while we were nearing the end of our vacation we encountered a vehicle problem. While passing through the gate at the POP resort I casually joked with the CM that it was too bad Mickey Mouse didn't own a garage.

He smiled, swiped my resort key and informed me that Mickey didn't own a garage but Pluto did. He promised that someone would contact us within the hour. We got to our room and the phone rang as we entered.

Turns out that there is a AAA garage over by Magic Kingdom, on property. Our over-length (Chevrolet Suburban) vehicle was towed to the garage, fixed and returned. I was very surprised to find that the prices were reasonable for the parts and labor. The cost of two tows? Zero. A perk of being a resort guest.

Disney also extended us one more day on our room at 1/2 price. I love staying on property.
