Why do you need to pair MB+ to phone if MB+ is already linked to MDE?

I think I am missing something LOL - I booked a vacation package for my family of 4 adults (2 resort rooms and 4 6-day tickets) via my personal My Disney Experience account. I purchased all 4 MB+ via my account and I see each new MB+ listed next to my family member's name in my account. Do I still pair my MB+ to my phone if I already see the MB+ listed as active in my account (I guess I am wondering what the point of pairing to my phone is)? Do I do this for my family members too?

You don’t need to pair it to your phone to use the regular MB functions like tapping into parks, opening resort room door, or charging to resort account.

You do need to pair it to your phone to use the special MB+ functions like playing games and making statues talk. I don’t know any more than that about MB+!

The special MB+ features use bluetooth to allow MDE and your other phone info, ie location, to communicate with the MB+. There's no point in having an MB+ unless you pair it; otherwise, you should just use the cheaper MB.

EDIT: I would allow each family member with a phone to pair their own MB+ to their own phone. That way they can control the settings on their MB+ without having to pester you.

Yes, as long as you link it to your phone and are nearby when the special effects are needed. To play the game in Battu you’ll need the Play Parks app.
