Why do YOU love Disney so much???

We love Disney because it has a special place in our hearts. We spent our Disneymoon there, and it was the first time that we stayed on site. Since then, Disney has been truly magical to us. I had been to Disney 2 or 3 times before my Disneymoon, but only after did we become fanatics.:)
We want to renew of vows there one day, maybe our 20th anniversary...I have 14 years to plan..lol:)

I love WDW because it is one of the few places I feel like I can be myself and not feel self conscious. The only place I feel as comfortable as I do at WDW is in my own home.

This is an awesome thread! I'm glad to know there's others out there like me. I love Disney because I feel completely safe and relaxed when I'm there. Ya know, that MAGIC feeling. You see things and experience things that you don't normally come across. I'm always in a constant state of amazement when I'm at Disney. Another reason for me is that I have motion sickness yet there's still so much I can ride, and see, and do when I'm in the parks. Many of their rides are thrilling but not thrill rides in the sense of the word.

We try to take a trip to Disney once a year but no longer than a 2 year span between trips. I have a co-worker who used to make fun of me for spending my vacations in Disneyworld. She's NOT one of the ones who "gets it". Her comment was "Why do you always go there. After you go one time there's nothing else new to do." I put her in her place by saying "You go to the beach every year, don't you? Why? Because after you go the first time there's nothing else new to do." I haven't heard a peep out of her since. Now I tell people that some people are beach people and go to the beach every summer but we're Disney people and go to Disneyworld every year.

It is very hard to explain,
  • But I cry when the "Good Morning" song starts at MK early in the morning.
  • I feel giddy when I hug a character.
  • I am nervous and my heart is beating a million miles a minute when I meet Mickey at Toon Town.
  • I plan for our disney vacation at least a year in advance.
  • I can't imagine going anywhere else. Where else would you go?
  • It is so magical, you truly feel like a princess.

For me it is the warm fuzzy feeling I get while I am there. I feel like nothing can hurt me or my family. We are there to be together and make memories. When I walk off the plane at MCO I feel all the problems lift and I am able to be a kid for a while. I forget about bills, school, sons health problems. I get that easy carefree feeling. I get those feelings just sitting here typing this remembering our last trip for my oldest son's graudation.

OMG Lindrew...

I get all teary eyed when I think about standing outside the gates of the MK listening to the Good Morning song. When we were there in December and we heard that song and the train pulled in with all the characters...I got all filled up and found myself actually crying when we walked through the gates...I can't explain why that is either...but, I know exactly what you mean!

While I'm at Disney nothing else matters. The stressful work life and everything at home disappears for the short time I'm there. On top of that my childhood comes rushing back to me and its just a feeling you can't really describe, but I'm sure most of you here know what I'm talking about.

I couldn't go last year due to switching jobs, but I'm finally going back in May with my Mom and Grandma...trying to get Grandma down there one last time since she's getting up there and starting to forget things a little bit..nothing too bad yet, but I want to get her there one last time before it gets worse. Plus she's never stayed on site or gone to any of the Disney restaurants so I'm going all out for her :goodvibes

Haven't read all the posts....Here are my thoughts...

I visited WDW and DL as a kid and young adult several times. Never for long and we didn't stay onsite. But those days were so memorable. When I go now, there are plenty of new and exciting things to do but my old favorites are there too. I think of it this way, wealthy families like the Bushes have Kennebunkport to return to every year. We have WDW. It's a home away from home, a place that is fun and exciting but familiar and comforting at the same time. That is a great combination! Each visit brings up all the memories of previous visits (after my visits earlier in my life, we went as a family 6 times in one year as FL residents, and then after we moved out of FL and 6 years had passed, we became DVC members and have visited 3 times in 2 years) and creates new memories for future visits, so our experience gets richer every time.

Basically, here is a company whose mission is for you to have a good time. They pour a lot of resources into your enjoyment. So, sign me up for that!

Everyone has such great stories!
:tink:
I went to Disneyland and WDW as a young kid, then we couldn't afford to go anymore. Had my son when I was young (16), and always wished that one day I could be blessed enough to take him to DL because you know, all parents want to be able to take their children to places like that. Well, in 2005 when my son was already 10 years old I finally was in a position to be able to afford to take him. So, I suprised him at Christmas and we drove out there for 4 days. The first time we walked through the gates of DL we both just froze in amazement. We had finally made it to the place that we had only talked about "someday" going. WOW!! That was a big deal for us, and I was never really a "disney" person- just a theme park person in general. But, tears came to my eyes, and I asked my son where do you want to go first? His reply was not any of the faster thrill attractions that I had expected- it was the tea cups! So off we went and had a blast from that moment on for our entire vacation! 6 months after that I sent for my mother, younger brother and sister to come visit over the summer (2006)- they live in Denver and I in Phoenix and we drove out to DL because I wanted to give them the same feeling that I got when I took my son. We had so much fun, my mom was handicapped, and was in a wheelchair but everyone was so friendly and helpful with us. Little did I know at that time that it would be the last time I saw my mother, she passed away just before Christmas 2007. I am thankful that the last memory I have of her was at Disney with our whole family. I can't wait until I can take my son to WDW so that we can experience the magic of seeing it together for the very first time. Sorry- I know my post was long!

I guess I:love: love:love: Disney so much because it makes me forget all the stress:scared: from the outside world. I can have the worst day at work and the minute I start talking about my upcoming vacation to other people I instantly feel giddy.:goodvibes :cloud9:

I didn't have the opportunity to go Disney when I was small. The first time there I was 16 and on a school trip. I didn't actually get to go with family (mom and little sister, first time for both!) until I was 25. They I am going this year with just my mom and I'm so EXCITED!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :yay:

My mom wants to vacation other places and see other things but one thing is for sure, I will always be the Disney fanatic in my house. :ccat: :donald: :sulley: :tigger: :mickeyjum

My DH thinks I'm crazy. I think about DW everyday and since I discovered disboards I can live it everyday too. I don't know why I love it so much. I think I even love the planning more than the actual vacation (I'm soooo tired while I'm there). My DH wants to go to the islands now, after 8 years at DW in a row, but I can't imagine not going. I always think maybe I should move to Celebration and work at DW.:yay:

I feel like I always need to have a Disney vacation in the works. As soon as we get back from Disney I start planning our next trip, it drives my hubby crazy. He loves Disney but not like I do!! This past December we traveled with a friend of mine who's a single mom and she flipped over Disney. She is on a pretty tight budget but has vowed to make Disney an annual thing for her kids. Now I just need find her a single guy who loves Disney as much as she does, a DVC membership wouldn't hurt either, haha!!!! I agree with others who have posted that the planning is as much fun as the actual vacation.

For me it's that Disney has always held such great memories for me. My family went a lot for vacations when I was growing up, and it was always great. Instead of a party, we spent 4 days at WDW to celebrate my 16th Birthday - and it was on that trip that I learned about the College Program. Then, when I finally went to CP 4 years later, I was lucky enough to meet my husband!! Since then, I've been back to the World many times. I love everything about it, the magic of the parks, the resorts and the restaurants. WDW is my #1 vacation destination b/c of the wonderful times it always brings.princess:

Why do I love Disney so much??

It's a total escape from reality. Why else would they have a fantasyland??? :rotfl:

Like many others have said, I always wanted to go as a kid. My parents didn't share this same idea though. :confused3 In 2003, I went for the first time. It was a once in a lifetime trip, 10 days in a DVC on the gold plan. After checking in we had our own private limo to MK, most of you would call it a bus. ;) Since there were only the four of us, my traveling party for that trip, I refer to it as our private limo. But then we had our own private limo another day as well to Epcot.

Disney is exhilarating and relaxing altogether. From the excitement of Wishes by Cindy's to time in the hot tub while viewing some of Illuminations, its truly a "dream come true" vacation. Where else can you have breakfast with a Princess, lunch with a bear, and dinner with a mouse? Possibly the main reason I love Disney is that it takes me back to a moment in time when life was simplier, one where you didn't worry when your child went to play outside if someone would kidnap them or if they could be shot by a stray bullet.

I have been going to WDW with my family for years and I have so many great childhood memories. Now that I am an adult I enjoy going and seeing my daughter have so much fun. I always feel like our problems go away and we are there to enjoy the MAGIC of it all!!!! pixiedust:

I love Disney because there is something for everyone--its a vacation spot where almost my entire family can agree on and enjoy together. It's easy to hop on Disney transportation and navigate the whole area. My family can split up and rejoin each other later and as many times as I've been, we are still doing new things each time and finding out things we never knew before.

There are so many great stories here....what more could I add?

I love the story of the woman who traveled in a camper for 2 days, and the stories of people finally going as an adult and loving it, stories of re-living childhood memories through your own kids eyes, and the post about the smells! :goodvibes

Why do I love Disney?

I love that you can plan a trip to fit everyone's needs and loves.

I love that it's always clean and just that perfect picture of disney when you're there.

I love that it is an escape from reality even just for a week.

I love that you can't do everything everytime.

I love that you can eat a giant turkey leg, hot popcorn, mickey shaped pancakes and ice cream all in the same day and not gain a pound....

I love seeing the castle for the "first time" everytime.

I love sharing my trips with my friends, family, husband and children.

I love knowing I'm coming soon and we'll be back again.

I love the fact that in 2005 I cried going on IASW w/ my children (their first trip and my fav. childhood ride).

I love that I can scream, laugh, cry, get warm and fuzzy all at the same time.

And beyond all that and the un-said things. I love being there with my family and that WDW can be a safe and fun place that my DS with special needs can spend a week at and not feel lost, out of place, or unaccepted.

I love Disney. So thank you to all who love it too and thank you to Walt for his dream he gave to us to live and share.

My Disney memories:
1st trip to WDW summer 1982
1st trip to Disneyland winter 1988
Worked for the Disney Store 1993-1995
and my trips listed below.

Does anyone else cry when they get on the Magical Express to go home? If you ask me, it's only a "Magical" express when it's taking me to Disney, when it's taking me back to the airport it's just an express!!!

I love WDW because I have fond memories of it from my childhood and my family and I continue to make more memories each time we go.

I feel like a kid again when I'm there.

I think it's great that people from all walks of life, countries, states, lifestyles have a good time there...I like meeting people from other places and striking up a conversation. Ditto for the fact that I might not agree with people here on religion, politics, sports teams etc but we all have one thing in common...we love WDW!;)

We have been DVC members since 2003. For us, our trips to Disney are the only time we can be a family with DH escaping his job. We have Dad's attention 24/7. We LOVE Disney. We LOVE talking Disney, planning Disney and going to Disney. We have been lucky to visit quite a few times since joining DVC. It is now part of our lives that just about come into conversation every day. Some of our best friends are owners as well.
Being said here before, Disney is magical. Disney is happy, Disney is vacation from the stress of life. I also find it very easy to strike up a conversation with someone who is planning, or has been to Disney. It is an icebreaker!!
We just love Disney!! And I tell people, Yes we are going again!!!:yay: :yay:
