Hi DISERS.

I'm just curious as to why alot of us keep returning to WDW and would like to get your input on this. For us it was alot of things, the quality, the exitement, and the magic. I always forget the stresses of day to day life and just enjoy the time with my family. I think its the only place on earth that can make a week feel like a month (especially at mid week) and then when it was all over I could not believe how quick the time went. wierd but only a DISER understands what I just said. :wizard:

1998 - All Star resort (music)
1999 - Domincan Republic . no go.
2000 - all star resort (music)
2001 - moved that year. no go.
2002 - All Star resort.(movies)
2003 - All Star resort.(sports)
2004 - All Star resort. (bought DVC).
2005 - SSR.
2006 - Board Walk/Old key West (March)

My, what an interesting post! I am glad you asked it as I too would be curious to hear how others feel.
For me, I love the planning and the anticipation. It's wonderful to look forward to the trip. Even though we've been there only twice, we got a bunch wierd looks as to why we would go again. I can only imagine what people will say as we tell them we are planning a 3rd trip. :yay:

Well said, pkitty!

We just cannot get enough! We visited WDW the past two years and we are going again in March! I spend countless hours on Disboards with music from the parks playing thru Live365. We have learned so much from these boards and maybe that is what keeps us interested.

There is just so much to see and do. It is a truly beautiful place... clean and safe. The sights, the sounds, the smells and the excitement of being there is like no other.

Where else on earth can you experience the Magic that is Disney?

:moped: :moped:

Hmmmmmmmmmm... Very good question!

I think I keep going back because I still haven't seen it all! I think over the span of my life I want to try staying at all the resorts too...

What I try to do is put a trip somewhere else in between Disney trips... For example I went to Mexico bewteen my last 2 trips and I'm trying to go to Africa before my next Disney trip (hoping it happens)...

I don't want to be Disney obsessed, but I feel like I can visit the world by going to Epcot when I need a quick cheap fix when I can't shell out $4000 to go to Europe.
:yay:

and maybe it has something to do with the amount of snow here. we just returned from disney a few days ago & it hasn't stopped snowing since our return. you know what I mean wasaga beacher!

You never get sick of it.
I find other resort locations to be boring (I can't figure out these folk who think that lying, baking on a beach for 10 days is a holiday !).
The people are always friendly and nice.
Theres always something new and different even although you go regularly (like we do).

There is so much to do and see! :thumbsup2

It's great to see that sparkle in my DD's eyes when we are there!

It's my Happy Place where I can go and rejuvenate!

It's amazing how a Dole Whip can soothe the soul!

Where else can you go and act like a kid and nobody looks at you funny! :lmao: :lmao:

Have to agree with Janet on all her points!

The sparkle in the kids eyes, dole whips, being able to act like a kid again, always something new to see or do!

Disney really is a magical place!

I agree too.

We are trying to plan a summer family vacation and even though I'm trying my best to look at other places, Disney keeps coming up. DD really wants to celebrate her birthday there too.

We've been to Disney Hilton Head once - which was great. It is on our short list too - can't get away from that Disney pull!

I also can't imagine sitting on a beach for a week. Too boring!

DH was the origional poster here and I would agree, despite what people say (and believe me they like to comment) I can't get enough of the place! I can literaly check my brain at the door for 10 days and just get away from it all. We live in Wasaga so laying on the beach in the sumer is nothing new (5 minute walk any day of the week). What we look for is stimulation, sights sounds and colour that innundate the senses...WDW gives us all of that and more. DH is a copper and reality for him is alot harsher than for the majority of us. He needs the escape from that reality really badly that's why we go. WDW is a safe, harmless fantasy world where we can retreat once a year. Kimmy I know exactly what you mean...I work in Orillia and believe me that drive is crazy! So all in all, I think that we will never find out "how much is to much". I suppose we will know when we find it doesn't provide the desired effect anymore, when that will be who knows exactly? For now we will continue to look forward to that yearly trip!

For our family it is the magic of the moment from teh minute we get into the car to leave it is like all teh stress of life is lifted off us and we enter a new place. We have found Disney to be the only place we ever go that we forget completely about everything going on in the world for 2 weeks and it is just our family and the magic. You just don't get that anyplace else and no matter teh cost it is our little slice of sanity in this journey we call life.

I agree with all of your post's so far :thumbsup2

My DD, DS and I are never bored with WDW, we want to try and stay at all the resorts and there always seems to be something new every year ::yes::

We leave our problems outside the WDW property and have great "family" time together :teeth:

It's great that the DIS boards exist for us all to communicate and realize that we aren't the only one who feels this way :grouphug:

iluvwesties (aka Carol) :wave2:

There is lots to do if we want to do it, and if we dont, the resorts are great for just hanging out.

I agree with all the posts so far.

We love to vacation as a family and there is no better place than Disney :)

For me it is that whole fairy tale feeling. I love that my kids forget that they are teenagers with "Attitude" as we all race to the next ride or laugh at the same corny jokes on POTC.

As everyone else can imagine I forever hear the "...Why don't you try someplace else for a change?" I just assume these folks have never been.
I am also not one to sit on a beach and drink pina coladas for a week or two. I don't really drink and besides we have beaches here (without fish that can kill you).
I've been 7 times in the last 9 years and can't wait to go back. I also enjoy everything from the music on live365, the forums on the Disboards and of course months of planning and pre-planning.
Actually when I was there this past Christmas on our last day there I actually sat back on a bench at Epcot and decided that this was the first trip where I felt I had seen enough and it was time to go someplace else. Well, 2 days after I was back I was trying to plan my next trip to WDW. I might decide to go to Disneyland though, does that count as somewhere else. :rotfl2:

Oh well, happy planning everybody.

Good thread!

I have never been to WDW. But we have been to DL 2x in the past 1.5 years. And are now planning our trip to WDW!
This is why have gone, and will continue to go there:
We love that is really does work out to be a good value for money spent.
We love that it is safe and clean.
We love that there is something for every age.
We love that there is that certain 'magic' there.
We love that it is all about family.
We love that you are entertained from the minute you walk in, until the minute you leave. I am also not one of those people that will be happy laying on the beach getting baked. I want to be entertained. Not relax!!

On a side note--those of you that do go every year, or more, can you share with me----how can you afford it? Is there tricks to getting there cheaper?
Thanks!!

We are all very rich :rotfl2:
No....seriously, as far as my family is concerned, when other families and friends in our area choose to spend their hard earned cash on various sporting events,Xmas gifts, weekends away, dinners, concerts etc,etc......we have decided as a family unit to forego these things in order for us to get our WDW fix.
As far as tricks to get it cheaper.....(I may get shot down for this),but I am convinced (and I have several trips under my belt to prove it) that DIY booking is the way to go. I have yet to see a package, travel agency booked holiday that could even come close to the $'s I spent on doing it myself. Sure it takes a lot of research, patience and flexibility (to choose the right times and locations) as well as the invaluable information you can pick up on these boards.

If there is will, there is a way.
We alway's try to put some money aside through out the year but sometimes that never seems to help too much because of car repairs, med bills
(mostly our old dogs) or other unknowns that pop up. Our first trip we saved and had everything put in place before we left. Our second trip we kind of went last minute and decided to flip the bill later (we realy needed to go away) but within a couple of months we had caught ourselfs up. Now we own a DVC and just accept and enjoy the visit every year.
TIP. We buy annual passes and use them twice in one year, ie: 18th of March we go down this year, but next year we will go down the the second week of March. This saves us about $ 1000.00 dollars.
also know what and where you want to eat, If I had may way I would do them all (restaurants) in one visit, but because I know we go every year we are selective, after all these years of going down we are finally going to BONGO'S cuban cafe'. Of course there are our favourites we do every year. This also applies to all the stuff DD would like to buy. We are so fortunate to be able to go once a year but I believe that is because we make it more of a priority to vacation than the average family. We also don't smoke or drink, (well very little anyways) and I am willing to work some O.T. for this.

:cat:

As for affording every year I really think it is an affordable vacation if you plan right. I know to take your family to a lodge in Muskoka for a week in July would cost major $$$ or a week skiing in Collingwood at March Break. So it's no so much affording DisneyWorld but do you put a vacation in your budget? For DH and I we have spoiled ourselves extensively since we've been married and planned to continue with our children. We even have this baby's first trip booked. We make choices with other things. No expensive clothes, drive an older car etc.
