Why do you go so often???

I just tell people that we love it. Our kids love it. We actually thought last summer about going to the beach instead. So dh and I can spend hours on the beach. DS12 and DD8? Not so much. So other entertaining plans would need to be made ( and after looking into hotel stays and tickets for other attractions, turns out Disney is about the same price.) Not much fun at the beach when it rains (hello FL in August??!!!) Rain at Disney? On go the ponchos and we trek on.

Disney provides ALL the entertainment we could ever need - from sun up to sun down pretty much no matter the weather. And even though we go every year or sometimes every other year, we ALWAYS find something new to do or see.

THAT'S what I've started telling people...

From the moment we take breath in life until we take our last someone will ALWAYS have to comment about something Delete, ignore, don't tell them, etc
live life and smuggly sit on a curb and eat a Mickey Ice Cream bar :thumbsup2

A girl at work that I am pretty good friends with JUST said this to me last week, and was teasing me about owning so many Minnie Mouse items, etc... She was making fun of Mickey and saying I like rats (I know! Who does that??). I kind of just laughed it off, even though she was clearly making fun of me and I kind of felt bad about it. As I was thinking about it later, this girl is married to another girl and I have NEVER judged her or thought anything less of her for it. Of course, I am the queen of thinking of the greatest comebacks way AFTER the fact, so now if she says anything to me, I am going to tell her, "I won't question your lifestyle choice if you don't question mine!"

We usually go twice per year, 14 days. Ten days are spent at WDW and the back end 4 at Vero Beach to wind down and relax our park feet. Since we've been going to WDW since MK opened, I am also sick of the Disney Again? questions. Now I just say I'm going to Vero Beach and nobody says a word. Go figure!

I think that people who have never been there see it as kind of a glorified 6 Flags type of park. They simply don't understand all that there is that makes it so very special.

Of course, questioning where you choose to spend your vacation is still rude. But I don't think it's intended to be so. I think it's a real lack of understanding of the appeal of Disney.

LOL we've passed through that phase - now our friends and family just ask - "when are you going to Disney again?" They all know we have a trip planned pretty much at all times.

Warning owning APs can be addictive!

We go too often, but oh well it's our money! I am also embarrassed to tell people because they think we are weird - I don't tell my friends until they ask "where are you going for vacation" or until we are able to leave.

I'm not sure if they question our finances or our sanity.

And for those that question our single destination, we do go other places besides WDW but they seem to only remember our disney trips.

I love my DH because he loves it as much as I do. Plus he suggested our current trip NOT me.

One more thing - I find it relaxing. We have gone so many times my DS7 even knows his way around.

On our second trip with our DS 3 at the time, he had opinions on what to ride next. Now at 7, he helps with planning like which character meal do you want to go to this time.

, so now if she says anything to me, I am going to tell her, "I won't question your lifestyle choice if you don't question mine!"

Don't lower yourself to that level. You claim this woman is your friend... are you sure? It doesn't sound as though you like each other all that much.

Obnoxious preteens make fun of other kids. Adults don't. And, in particular, don't sink to the level of anything approaching homophobia. Aside from all the more obvious reasons, it will also get you into huge trouble at work.

Next time, tell her you're both paid to get work done, not to discuss your vacation plans or cubicle decor. And walk away.

I think of it this way, IMHO people who really enjoy Disney tend to embrace their inner child. They accept that even in an adult world there is a place for wonder, magic, dreams and fantasies (there is a reason those are the names of the Disney ships). And then there are others that have given up on their inner child for some reason. These people tend to look down their noses at us "overgrown children". For them Disney may be a place to take your kids to once, so you can tell them you did that for them. But they see no point in multiple trips. Do they annoy me when they condescend me, yes, especially when they are related to me, but really I just feel sorry that they have lost touch with their inner child in favour of "more sophisticated" endeavours.

LOVE this reply :) I JUST smile and say YES I am going to see MICKEY...AGAIN ;) Now that my kids are grown and it is just DH and I, most people are even more clueless as to WHY we go to WDW . But is OUR happy place and we have found our favorite things to do as a couple there these past few years. :goodvibes Joan

Almost everyone I have interactions with, relatives, friends on facebook, always say that to me when I announce our next Disney trip coming up.

They all say WHY WHY WHY do you keep going back to Disney over and over, and without your kids? That's an even bigger shocker.

This November will be my 6th trip since October of 2011.

I just tell them DISNEY is where we want to go. You go to the beach I will go to Disney.

This happens over and over to me..."Disney, Again?" - here is my answer

Let's see....10 days where I get to lose myself completely with my children and be a grown up child for 24 hours a day, with no cooking, driving, cleaning, grocery shopping, work blackberry and late night work calls....oh...and when and if I decide to do laundry...Disney has a bar with just the best cocktails and pool so even that is more fun. And by the way...my children declared that they always want to vacation with me...and their teenagers and that is priceless.

Thanks for asking...hope your vacation is awesome too.:thumbsup2

I'm with you! I had a friend accuse me to be into childen in that way Um noooooooooo that really pissed me off. Why cannot an adult be into Disney? I know a lot of guys obsessed w/ Marvel Comics etc....

Bill Burke, in his book “Mousejunkies”, says this:

“I’ve prepared a brief, two-page worksheet suitable for distribution. Simply fill out the form on the following two pages, make copies and hand it out to any naysayers, party poopers or mundane-loving coots around your workplace.

Yes, I am going to Walt Disney World on vacation. Again. Before you
a. Roll your eyes
b. Snort
c. Offer your unsolicited opinion

Let me try to explain to you why I have decided to visit WDW for the ___th time. I love the magical atmosphere, incredible attractions, Broadway-caliber shows, unmatched customer service and value for my vacation dollar.

There is nothing quite like
