Why do you care about cruise directors

Well, I know that he's onboard the Magic until at least August (that's what he told us on our cruise). Don't know if he's moving to a different ship, or just taking some time off.

I believe he has taken a job elsewhere with Parks & Resorts, he's been attending various events in a CM capacity at Disneyland lately.

We've been on five DCL cruises, and while it doesn't really matter to me who the CD is, I will say that Clayton was memorable (he was on our Wonder cruise last December). He seemed to pop up everywhere and would break out and dance with guests in common areas. Darren had a memorable accent, but other than that, I don't remember anything else he did that was special.

all i can remember are the introductions at the sail away and .....ummmm..........the final night show/thing...and.......ummmmmmmmmmmmm....there MUST be something else. and that is why I don't give a fig who the CD is

I had Christiaan for my first two DCL cruises and absolutely adored him!! Big time congrats on the new position!!

I think Ray was the one I had on the Fantasy? From South Africa I believe? He was good, but his debarkation video was sleep-inducing. They should have recorded Christiaan doing one for each of the ships and just had that be the debarkation video. His was amazing!!

I have absolutely no clue who the CD was when I cruised HAL to Alaska - but I was with a group, so our group escort was really more of OUR CD and Mila was awesome!!

On my first RCCL cruise (also to Alaska...same group...same group escort) the CD was this girl who most people over on cruise critic go gaga over but I found so annoyingly saccharine and fake I'd literally turn around and go the other way if I saw her walking towards me.
And the guy this year on my RCCL Med/Venice (Jerome I think...) cruise was ok...but he really felt like a Christiaan knock-off (though I doubt they've ever met). It was like, this guy was trying to have the kind of personality Christiaan does, but it just fell flat. I actually liked our Activities Director Jeremie better than the CD.

No clue who I'll have on the Magic, but I'm 99% sure they'll be better than the ones I experienced on HAL and RCCL combined.

I've sailed with Christiann several times but it's been a while and was not aware he had been promoted - FANTASTIC! I generally don't care about who the cruise director is, but I have to admit when you sailed with Christiann you KNEW it. What a well-deserved promotion and so glad to hear!

Means nothing to me. Being a Platinum I've never figured the craze out either. Just like with the Captain.

Same here, never noticed a difference in the CD and this comes from someone that went to college for the sole purpose of one day becoming a CD! LOL!! Instead I fell in love right out of college! HAHAHA!! I also don't understand the excitement with the Captain. Our stateroom host and Dining people are the most important on our cruises

Too funny! I agree with you about the stateroom host and servers. They are the ones we come in personal contact with daily.
