Overnight guest?

I’m going to WDW for a few nights with my son. Turns out my dad will be in the area and may join us for 1 night. I vaguely remember you could register someone as a guest for 1 night or something like that - is that accurate and if so is there a charge for doing so? We are not trying to skirt any rules - I would add him to the main reservation but we are doing the dining plan and I don’t want to pay for another adult who won’t be there the whole time. If it matters: son and I have APs, dad won’t be getting a ticket, and he will have a car. He does fit within the room capacity. Thanks.

You would just add him at the front desk after you check in. Regular resort rooms allow 2 adults + children under 18 for the nightly rate. There would only be an extra adult charge if your son is over 18.

Hotels charge extra for a third adult in a room, so if your son is 18 or older, then yes, your dad will be charged. See below for cost per resort category.

$15 per extra adult, per night - value resort
$25 per extra adult, per night- moderate resort
$35 per extra adult, per night- deluxe resort

There’s also the chance that the fee may be waived when you register him when you talk to the CM at the front desk.
