Why do most women like a macho type man?

A group of women at a party were all together and talking about the perfect man who is in the public eye. All ten women agreed they wanted a macho type man. Here were some of the "ideal men" these women brought out.

Harrison Ford
Sam Elliot
Clint Eastwood

These are surely MACHO TYPE MEN with all the strengths and weaknesses that come with macho. These include: somber, uncommunicative, distant, unemotional, but handsome, confident, physical, sexual and very popular with your lady friends.

Tell me, what do you think about being with a macho guy? Or is the "Average Joe" bettter for a long term relationship?

jmho, but i think you're playing on the stereotypes too much. none of the aforementioned people strike me as unemotional (well maybe clint in his early days), or uncommunicative.

dh is not a real macho guy and i'm happy with him. though a "macho" guy as you have painted him might be fun to play with i wouldn't want to be in a long term relationship with a macho guy as you have described him.

Macho Men? No way. That's exactly how I describe the men I would NOT want to be with. I'm so glad DH is not "macho". I wouldn't have married him if he were.

I don't know how "macho" they can be if they are actors. I'm sure *really* macho men wouldn't be willing to have their hair dyed, or eyebrows plucked for special events!


Like I said in another one of your posts, I don't want a man who can be another one of my girlfriends! I need a man who I feel can protect me and balance out the relationship.

My ex-husband was a very macho guy - look where that got me.

A funny story: Several months ago I mentioned to the man I am dating that I am glad he is not a macho guy. The next time I saw him he had grown a goatee. Nope, I like him just the way he is. He is not one bit feminine, but not macho either.

DBF is definitely a macho type, but I can bring out the communicative side in him. I think there was a line from Anne of Green Gables where she said she didn't want a truly wicked man but she wanted one who she knew could be wicked if he wanted to be but wouldn't....I'd go along with that philosophy.

We just got a brand new YMCA, it's beautiful!

Nice big pool, all state of the art work out machines, it's incredible!

But you can't stay overnight there.

well Doh - I've STAYED at the YMCA of the Rockies for a reunion

I never thought of it as an actual "YMCA" - it's more of a combination camp/reunion/resort type facility
