Really. Why do we love WDW so much? Those of us who go and immediately upon getting home start reading the Boards and planning another trip. Those of us who can't get enough of comparing tips and deals and experiences. I check the boards every day in case I might miss something.

And then there are those like my DH who could happily live his life never going to a WDW related anything ever again? i am really interested in the answers to this question. :earsgirl:

You are so right!! I cant wait to start planning my next trip as soon as i come back. My husband on the othe hands says: dont you get tired of seeing the same thing!!!MY REPLY NO:Pinkbounc CANT WAIT TO GO AGAIN. He is looking forward to HHN this year cause we have never been!!! Its just a magical place, that is the attraction

betty

For me, WDW is what I wish life was like everywhere on earth.
The majority of the people you meet are happy, smiling, hugging their children, just hoping to feel some of the magic. So much of the nonsense we run into in our "regular" lives is non-existent at WDW.I guess what I'm trying to say is that it is a much needed break from reality. A place to not only forget your troubles, but a place to be with other people from around the country and around the world who are all looking for the same thing; good, old fashioned happiness.

ditto here!!! However, my DH is wonderful about the whole thing. He doesn't like WDW either, but he stays at WL while DD and I go to the parks. He reads a book, swims, sleeps, etc. We just got back from 4 days at WL and he said it was the best vacation he had ever had. DD and I however are still trying to catch up after running for 3 days in the parks!!!:hyper2:

It's a great compromise, we would'nt have it any other way. Everyone gets what they want!!!:teeth:

For us it both escapism and nostalgia. We love getting away from reality and experiencing fantasy writ large at WDW. We also have a sense of connection to our parents' love of Disney from the Mickey Mouse club and my dad's first visit to Disneyland in 1956, and the idea that some of the things at WDW are the same kinds of rides and attractions that he rode, that Walt envisioned, and that my kids can enjoy with their grandchildren someday, too. I like being on Main Street in a time that never really was but can be when I am there.

Some people need this more than others, I guess.

For us, we know the magic and we cherish it.

It's the soundtrack.

(DH found several radio stations that just play WDW theme park music!! So, now we are surrounded by Disney whenever the mood strikes!)

Being able to sing the Mickey Mouse Club song from growing up with Annette (sp?), Cubby, or Roy and all of the other members of the orginal TV Mickey Mouse Show, or watching the serial stories like Spin & Marty. WDW allows myself and wife to become kids again. The responsabilities of adulthood are shead for a short time and we enjoy reliving our childhoods. Call it what you want, escapeism or nostalgia, it brings back simplier times, B&W TV's, and not worring about what will happen tommorrow as kids.

We love it because when you are there you are HAPPY ALL THE TIME!!! I was showing my co-workers my pictures of our last trip in May, there were several with me and some characters. Their comment was, "WOW! You never smile like that here!!" You know, they are absolutely 100% correct!! Even my DH said, "Look that the $H!T @$$ grin on your face!!! I smile just thinking of going again!! YUP! Disney FREAK and proud of it!!! :earsgirl:

What's not to love? I'm fortunate, my dh is a bigger disney-nut than I am. We have a trip planned for September and one for October of 2005....but wait....we are considering squeezing in another trip in between those two. We, too, just can't get enough. My family just doesn't get it.

Like others, when you go to WDW you truly can forget reality for a short while. It is nice. On one trip they kept putting free USA Todays (or something like that) in our room and we kept leaving them outside our door...we didn't even want to see the cover...no news while at WDW!!!

because WDW is magical?....
because it's covered with pixie dust?....
because we love to be there and can't wait to go back?

because it doesn't matter what we do when we're there as long as we are there?

I know! We haven't even left yet for our trip and I am already planning for the next one. When planning for this trip I decided to get APs for the four of us. DM(55), DS(8 turning 9 on the trip), DS(3), and I(turning 33 on trip) are going for two weeks to create some awesome family memories before I transfer to a ship. Well...I just found out that it looks like I will be leaving in Dec for 8 months. The reason we bought the APs was so we could get two uses out of them and go again when the ship returns, but they may expire before I get back so ......

I guess we will be going again in late Nov/early Dec again before I leave....HURRAH!!!!!!!!!

It's the smells of Main Street....the rush of excitement when you pull into your resort....it's the little things that CM's do...it's the fun of planning and planning and planning.....but most of all .............

It's that darn mouse!!!! I have to see him! We were already planning our Christmas trip before we left in June! I just couldn't stand the thought of going home and not be planning a trip, as well as visiting the DISboards everyday! I don't know what I'll do when I don't have a trip to plan? Gotta use those APs!

It's the rush you get when you see "Walt Disney World" perched upon a colorful sign above the road, the butterflies that begin to flutter in your stomach when you know you are minutes away from the happiest place on earth, that feeling that the real world can just be left behind, a grin that seems to never go away, the chills you feel when you walk down Main Street, smiling at the Castle, how, no matter how hard you try, you can't stop the tears of joy during Wishes, that wonderful feeling of being a kid again,
jumping around with characters while people look at you like your nuts... but you really don't care, cause you know THEY are the ones who are nuts cause they're being to mature for Disney!!!;)

Now, as to why we love to come back, replan (even if it is more than a year away till you return Home), read experiences, share fun facts, while others really couldn't care less? I guess we are just lucky to have a love (perhaps upsession?)!!!!!

It kinda stinks, though, when you tell you're family something about Disney that you find really interesting, and they reply with" Oh" or "Ok" or " "::yes:: OH well, doesn't change my love one bit!!!!!!!!! :hyper:

Leaving the real world behind (except for McDonalds, grr), the nice people you meet there, tasting many different foods, sleeping like a log and swimming every day.

This last trip I got Disney fever, I think my daughter caught it in 2003, lol.

Sure, after we return home! Not on vacation im my fam. DD does okay, but DH and I seem to toss and turn all night, waiting for day to break:hyper:

Why do we love it? Its everything. While on vacation last summer at USF, which is also fantastic, just different, I started planning for next summer:tongue:

Sweetness,

Lol...for some strange reason I have the deepest sleeps of my life at WDW. I am so relaxed when I wake up it is like I am on morphine (which I had once for back problems) but the interesting thing is it only works if I have central air. When I stayed at the POR (no central air) I was tossing and turning all night and woke up several times, go figure. At any rate with the great sleeping I am bursting with energy every day and never get tired, last vacation I didn't even feel the heat.

DH and I love the World for all the reasons listed above...especially the idea of excapism to a place that is has good clean family fun, balloons, fireworks, candy, ice cream, spooks, music, parades, etc. It's such a family atmosphere!

I also LOVE the fact that it is the perfect vacation place. If you want to be commando, get up early and attack the parks! If you want a relaxing trip, stay at a nice resort and enjoy the pool, eat at the gourmet restaurants, etc. Even if you've been a hundred times before, there is always something new, something different to experience. Tours, spa treatments, boating, fishing, animals, eating, riding, dancing, shopping...WDW offers it all! You can even go and not have to drive the entire time you're there!

The very best thing about WDW besides the magic is the attention to detail throughout the parks and resorts. I love the Hidden Mickeys, fun facts, talking trashcans, rides that have a story and stand-by lines that are themed to a hilt...where else can you get all that?? Wonderful...makes me smile every time!

:p IVY :p

Why do I love it so much? Because life is too short to not be able to enjoy the things in life you really want to do. It took 44 years of my life, plus 14 years as a husband, and most importantly 12 years as a parent to finally achieve a lifelong goal of traveling with the family to WDW. And now having done it once, doing everything I can possibly do to have it happen many more times in the future.
