Why do they have to show disturbing news stories....

during the 8:00 family hour of TV?

We're sitting here watching American Idol and they show a preview for the news talking about how the American contractor was beheaded, thankfully our kids had left the room.

Another day they talked about the terrible murders here in PA where a mom killed her 3 teenage children and a boyfriend, this was again advertised at 8:15pm.

WHY do they do that?!?

Because the media can't imagine doing anything without disturbing the rest of the world. They can't sleep at night for fear of not having something even worse to tell us in the morning. They do a real good job of blowing things way out of proportion, and in all honesty I have essentially boycotted TV, because I'm so sick of seeing it nonstop.
Besides, there are sickos that only watch the news if they know something graphic will be on.

Because much of the public eats this stuff up. And the news stations need to sell their program, so they need to advertise. And they'll do it whenever they like because it's "news."

It's the almight dollar.

If people weren't so morbidly curious, they couldn't "sell" these tragic events.

I don't hide my kids from the news. My kids know bad things happen to good people, they don't need to hear the horrific details of a man being beheaded in the middle of American Idol! What would be the purpose of me telling this to my children other then to totally freak them out, why should they have to think about people being beheaded?!?I'm sorry but I see NO purpose to let my kids know of this event.

All the other stations in our area talked about other lead in stories the rest of night, just this one in particular chose to show a picture of the poor man and speak about his death. I think it was ridiculous that they did this at 8:00, irresponsible even. I know *why* they choose to do so, I was just venting. It turns my stomach and it just pisses me off.
