Why do the English wear hats on their foreheads?

Whether they are sprouting from the middle of the forehead, like Athena from Zeus, or sliding off the side of the head, they all look silly to me.

And no, Eugenie bore no resemblance to Lady Gaga. Her clothing was not constructed of meat.

In fairness, it was a DISers child who commented on that. They may not have realized that Gaga wore food.:rotfl:

My guess is that a more vertical forehead hat is easier to wear when in close proximity with so many people. No bumping hats when seated in church & turning your head.

Wide top of head horizontal hats would be a pain to wear.

That's just my practical guess. I haven't read the thread.

Well, now I know why they are worn on the forehead, and that they are NOT called hats....

:)

:rotfl:

He does look yummy there, doesn't he? :goodvibes

And here's William's cousin Zara, who apparently traveled from the future to be there:

And look at the license plate on the car after the ceremony! So sweet.

Aw, speaking of sweet... Harry with the kidlets. So cute.

It's looks like Prince Harry is sitting at the kids' table! :rotfl:

When I saw these two I thought they looked like the stepsister's in Cinderella. Not a good look. I'm talking about Beatrice and Eugenie.

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: I was thinking of Anastasia & Drizella, too. I know that's mean but it was the first thing that popped in my head. :laughing:d.

first thing I thought of when I saw the blue dress was the movie Nanny McPhee. It looks like a dress that one woman would wear...Mrs. Quickly???She was the one that Colin Firth was going to marry.

I love dishing about fashion. You don't wear a hat like that unless you want to be noticed and commented on. Yep, I watch Fashion Police too.

:thumbsup2

Because I think it is all for the young people and that two of the rooms have been changed into a Disco. He is also having a survival breakfast for who ever makes it until 6:00 am . Harry knows how to throw a party. I hear there will be no staff there either to report back to the Queen.

Most of the couples usually just have the luncheon and then leave on their honeymoon. The dinner Charles is having for them is not normal either.

I think there were really nice hats too.

Our new anchors said that David Beckham had his metal on the wrong side.

I was watching TLC this morning after the wedding and they were a hoot with the hats too so it is not only on here. Clinton from What not to Wear said he was surprised to see so many woman wearing hose. He said the two young princess Beatice and Euginie should not have been wearing them. Young girls do not need them.

I disagree with this. I think hose at a formal event is a must. I just think formal fancy dresses and a very protocol laced event calls for not having bare legs.

I thought the Spencer girls (Diana's nieces) had awesome hats. They were fashion forward without going over the top.

Beautiful. And I like those *hats*--less fond of the black spritzle ribbon thingee but otherwise not bad!

Crazy hats seem to be Beatrice's "thing" as evidenced here at Peter Phillips wedding (her cousin.)

Oh my!! And her dress looks to match! All I can think of is It's Tough to Be A Bug's curtain and that "little fella"!:lmao:

Or Mrs. Doubtfire. I can see her in the blue dress!!

I personally thought most of the dresses, suits, hats, shoes, etc. were stunning and really are fashion forward.

Unfortunately for many people, the idea of fashion is the local mall.

Well drop me off at the mall ma, because they were funny to me.

It's pretty easy to imagine Harry sitting at the kids' table at Thanksgiving -- and having a blast.
I'd love to see Joan Rivers do a Fashion Police wrap up of the wedding. I'm not sure if Beatrice or Eugenie would get top honors as worst dressed!
Oh, that's easy: Although the one in blue has chosen horribly, the top honors for worst dressed have to go to the one in beige. Honestly, it looks like she's wearing an empty picture frame on her head.

Don't they know that standing out can be a bad thing?

I disagree as well. Bare legs look . . . un-polished, too tough . . . for running everyday errands, fine; for a picnic or a day at school, great . . . for a huge once-in-a-lifetime event, go all out.

Nah, there's an awful lot of space between today's trends at the mall and far-fetched junk that people term "fashion forward". LOTS of good taste lies in between. Diana certainly bridged that gap well. She always looked so polished, so poised -- never ridiculous, as some of these girls look. It appears that Catherine will be similar to Diana.

Why does she have to dress like she at a funeral

Dark colors are not taboo at weddings. :flower3:

ETA: And I actually thought Mrs. Bechkham looked wonderful! The shoes were not my cup of tea though. The idea of 5 inch stillettos, I'm tripping over my feet just thinking about it.

:thumbsup2 Exactly. I didn't see much I'd wear, although some of the fascinators are interesting. But I enjoyed seeing the different outfits.

I did not see this! That is some outfit.

Ouch.. Sharon Osbourne just ripped apart this woman on The Insider...
said she has the worst nose job ( it was crooked) and that the canoe hat point right at it....

I was a bridesmaid in a black and white wedding in 1996. The event was black tie optional. I wore a floor length black gown. (ETA: Bride's choice)

It was not a spring wedding though. I am not sure if that made a difference. It was in January. And it was one frigid cold day in an otherwise balmy Florida January.
