Why do some people think they are above rules!

Yep--someone stole my rotisserie chicken this way. They usually call the numbers over by the number switcher and she was stalking the birds. Not wanting my number to be skipped--I go closer to the switcher thingy--only for a deli employee (a special one) to just randomly decide to help the bird stalker.

I later spoke with the Deli Manager who misunderstood my complaint about the slow deli. I said no--you have a procedure and your employee chose not to follow it. She asked who it was and I showed her and she wasn't surprised. Needless to say at 6pm on a weekday, I got the brush off :(.

And the bird thief was a complete witch about it, too!

There is this really busy deli by my work that has one of those number dispensers and a big sign that says, "Take a number and study the menu, quietly. When we call your number, be ready to order. If you miss your number being called, go get another. If you make a fuss, whatever time you waited will be forfeited. We politely reserve the right to refuse service. NEXT!" It always reminds me of Seinfeld's "No Soup For You!" :rotfl:

Good one! :rotfl: :rotfl:

People is plain rude these days that it's funny. This almost makes me hate go to stores these days buy something all because of crazy people.

OMG!!!! This is the funniest thing I have read all night! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I hope that damn bird thief gets hers..... :teeth:

I have people come into the store and pull that crap all the time. It's annoying.

Obnoxious! I think people act this way because it works for them. They keep getting what they want, so they keep acting like bleeps!

Well i have to say that where i live people are always rude. To people at my school, pushing you and staying right in the the middle of the hallway, no saying thank you if you hold the door for them. Well on thing that bothers me is that people not moving over for ambulances OR the people that follow the ambulance so they can pass traffic. There has been countless times that happen. There is FLASHING and SIRENS which would mean there is an emergency not a parade or your ticket to non stop driving....sorry for vent...but the rudeness i think is increasing in our country. I am wondering why? :confused3

ARG! That is like the "special" parent at our school who thinks that it is perfectly ok for them to drive around all of the parents already in the carpool line, stop & back up to be infront of the first car. The worst part, when we got a teacher to go out to tell them to move they lied & said that they were there first! :( If they keep that up there is going to be a mutiny in the school parking lot. :)

Well, I have to tell my story about BEING the rude line hopper...

It was the Octber after 9/11 and I was flying out to San fran to meet my DH for an anniversary tacked onto a work trip trip. I was at the airport, and there were lines every where and I mean every where. I checked in at the counter, then went to walk up the stairs to get in the line to go through security. HOWEVER, I went up the middle staircase (not the one on the right). I walked right up and to the security guard with my id and my ticket, and proceeded to walk right through the first check. Well, imagine my suprise when I turned to look back and make sure my suitcase was rolling along right behind me and there about 20 feet behind me at another security check was about 100 people waiting to get through! I was supposed to go up the righthand stair and went up the middle and when I got up to the top of the stair the guard's back was turned (the one that was supposed to tell me where to go) and when he turned around he thought I was the next person in the looooong line to go through.

UH, what to do?

I put my head down and walked veeeeerrrryyy quickly to my gate, that is what I did!

Yikes! And, I always wait my turn at the deli!

Maybe she didn't know the "routine" there. It happened to me last weekend at a Starbucks I've been to about three times. First time there was a line there. I know how the line moves in my usual store, but it was different in this place. Someone behind the counter told me where the line was. Think the *(Y&Y$#&$ lady that walked in the door right behind me offered to let me get in line ahead of her? Absolutely not. Talk about rude. Then on her way out she actually informed someone entering where the line was! LOLOL!

I've also run into a problem in a deli of a food store here. I don't normally shop there, and for some strange reason they don't use numbers.

I know, I have car duty every Monday at my school, it is nuts out there! I just love the parents who drop their kids off at the bus port instead of the the car ride line. It is SO dangerous, and we always say something. We also get a lot of people who drop their kids off in at a non-car rider entrance. There is no staff member out there, and you are not special people! Wait in line with the parents who are following the rules ::yes::

How did somebody "steal" "your" rotisserie chicken? Had you placed a specific order? Did you prepay for the chicken, and then they didn't have any to give you? At our stores, things like precooked chicken are first come, first served, and actually, self serve items.

I remember one day, somebody "stole" the sushi I wanted for lunch, so I needed to order something else. Another time, like you, I wanted to get a rotisserie chicken to serve guests for lunch. By the time I finished purchasing the rest of my groceries, there were no chickens left. So I had to resort to "plan B", which was to stop at a different store. If there had been none there, either, I would have gone to Boston Market, which is actually in the same parking lot as the grocery where I was shopping. I have no ill will to those who happen to buy the last of a particular item that I thought I might want to purchase. I usually pick up something else instead.

Wouldn't you have ill will if that person was supposed to be in back of you in line, but couldn't be bothered to wait in line and then bought the last of the chickens?

I think the bigger point wasn't that she didn't get a rotisserie chicken, it was that a person who didn't wait her turn went up and took the last one. That is different than a person who is in front of you in line getting the last chicken.

Yep, I took the chicken stalker and stealing the chicken as tongue in cheek...she was complaining more about the fact the woman cut the line.

Just the other day I was at Walmart in the quick check out and someone tried to cut infront of me when there wasn't anyone behind me and only one person in front of me - talk about crazy - I'm standing inline waiting for the girl in front of me to finish -I have 2 storage tubs in my basket and this girl walks up to the counter like I'm invisible and puts down some bras and undies on the counter and pushes them up to the register like she was GOING to be next no matter what. I just looked at the cashier and shook my head. The cashier rang me up next but said in a low voice " We see it all the time" LOL There was no one behind me and my transaction took all of a minute - LOL People never cease to amaze me.

We also see some doozies at the drop off and pick up lines at school - some people just think the rules do not apply to them.

Maybe your school should get one of those orange cones and put that out on the drive where the first car in line should stop and tell the parents that any car that parks in front of this cone will need to immediately move to the back of the line. No more butting in front of the first car in.

DW Lauri has a saying about the squeaky wheel thing. She hates hearing people that use that all the time and are so proud of themselves for causing a ruckus to get what they want (but don't deserve) - especially at work. She tells them that the squeaky wheel may have gotten the grease this time but sooner or later a squeaky wheel just ends up getting replaced!

They do that because they were never taught to respect other people. The employee was wrong for serving her, the manager should have been called.
I agree. ::yes::

maybe the ones who take the number at the deli and then come back MUCH later demanding immediate service are "dis'rs" with an overly developed "fact tract" mentality :rotfl2:

seriously-the parents in the carpool line drove me nuts at our previous school. but then the school did the cone and "traffic parents" (a.k.a. "traffic nazis") thing. seriously, the school set out these cones, and handed out directional signs and day-glo orange vests to some parent volunteers-but they failed to consider that they did'nt open the parking lot for incoming traffic until one hour before school started, so there would be a line of cars for BLOCKS AND BLOCKS, and it more often than not took over an hour to get into and drop off a child (longer when the "traffic nazis" would'nt let any cars move because one evil parent had managed to sneak out and leave a car unattended in line-which the "traffic nazis" couldnt address because "it's not within our realm of authority" but "we cannot deviate from the do not pass another car mandate" so you waited 20 minutes until the "car parker" got back (and god knows how long waiting while that parent got chewed out by other parents), the kids ended up majorly late to class (and "parking lot delays" were not excusable tardies, the kids got demerits for them)-parents were late to work.

i gave alot of credit to the parents that volunteered for traffic duty, but by and large it became a major power trip for some of them and when you are dropping off a kid, have a toddler whose been "holding it" for 45 minutes are 8 months pregnant and have been "holding it" for 30 minutes yourself-the last thing you need to hear is "if you wish to use the restrooms you must first exit the parking lot and return to the line and advise the directional traffic parent that you wish to access non-staff time limited parking allocated to non appointment parents".............AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH....."because we cannot deviate from the vehical access mandate". TRAFFIC NAZIS!
