Why do people think they can criticize your vacation choices?

They have no idea that our trip in 3 weeks is only costing us airfare and food because we are DVC with AP's. I know those things are not free and we paid for them awhile ago and it has allowed us another cheaper vacation.

I know, right? We feel the same way, it's almost wasteful NOT to go when the APs are just sitting there expiring day by day. LOL!!

We save even more because we drive (no airfare), have TIW and use DVC discounts. Eat breakfast in the room most days. We don't spend much at all on our trips.

As for the issue of taking people along, we get guilted too. Our grandkids are constantly begging to be taken along and I feel like such a bad grandma when I explain we can't take all 4 of them because we have a studio booked. Who would we leave out??? For the record we have taken them all 3 times in 5 years and they are going back in June without us so they are not deprived.

I do love taking people and sharing but have discovered we like it best when it's just us. Nobody to please but ourselves.

The question of the decade! Why are you going to Disney again? Been there, done that, so why waste your time and money and don't you want to try Aruba, sandals, anything else where you get your moneysworth?????? Yes, I actually have heard all of these, and more. It's sad when you have to defend your vacation plans to Disney. I just don't understand what the problem is to those people? I finally just tell them, it's our money and we go where we want to go on our vacations, just like they do! Get the hint? I don't monitor my talking about our vacation plans with anyone. The question, again, is WHY do we feel we have to hide that we go to Disney? What a crazy world! We'll all just go to our happy place and have a great time, even if we shouldn't cause we've already been there, it's just for kids, we should go to the beach, and it costs too much:) Yep, gotta laugh about it!

Letting you vent is about all we can do! There are actually nondisney people out there! there loss

The only people who ever do this to me are my parents, and they don't see anything wrong with Disney vacations, they just wonder why we don't go other places more often. As they are well off, retired, and can basically travel wherever and whenever they want, I think they've forgotten how expensive it is to vacation internationally. My last Disney vacation in its entirety cost about the same as it it would just to fly across the pond. Would I like to go to Paris instead of seeing it replicated at Epcot? Yes. But I like Epcot, too, for significantly less damage to my wallet.

I don't receive a lot of negativity about my vacations but it is kind of funny that people get less excited for me when they know we visit frequently. Not that they are not excited, it just isn't that jumping excitement they had for us the minute before I told them we have DVC points and Annual Passes. Separately, we don't share our vacations with a lot of my family, not because they would be rude about them, but because they can't afford them (or, for some, any vacations) and I have my own guilt about going when I know they can't. It's silly but it also stops me from telling them.

Our family has been having Disney family vacations for over 25 years. Why does my family criticize my Disney vacations? Because as a family, my children, spouses and grandchildren all join us and we have such a magical time while my siblings children fight amongst each other. In one word.....jealously.
