Why do people leave shopping carts in the parking lot?

Who said anything about being perfect? This thread is about shopping carts. I return them. Doesn't mean I'm perfect. Just means I'm not lazy. :lmao:

Did you wipe down the cart before returning it to the cart jail? If you didn't then I'm sorry but that is lazy.

Actually, we have a new grocery store opening soon. I believe it is owned by a German outfit.

Anyway, to deal with the shopping cart issue the owners announced that their new shopping carts will not have wheels: you just slide the cart along on its base.

I wonder if the carts will look like this:

People will take them and use them as laundry baskets! Can you see the thread:

Most of the people I see are.
The only time I ever did was when my daughter was an infant and it was raining. I'd put her in the car first then the groceries and I wasn't going to leave her alone in the car while I returned the cart.

I can understand a lot of parents doing stuff like that. I have seen it happen and I don't think anything is wrong with that.

Just went to our new Walmart  :woohoo:

I'm happy to report that there were 2-3 corrals per row! There were no loose carts hanging about the parking lot. I think the locals are all too proud of their new store to mess up the carts just yet. ;)

Okay, so if your house is filthy and you are a couch potato you are not lazy cause you return the cart.:lmao:

I keep my house clean, I take care of my special needs daughter's multiple needs, I volunteer extensively, I attend college, I raised another four children in addition to her, etc. I or anyone else is not lazy just because on occassion we do not return carts.

But hey, if thinking that is true bolsters your sagging self esteem...:confused3

:rotfl:

I wonder if there has been a thread on :rotfl: people who refuse to let other people into traffic? You know, the light is red for them and you are trying to pull out from a side road or you need to be on that side of the road for a turn and by gawd, you are not going to get in front of them! You might cause them a few seconds of their time. :headache:

We don't believe in having the prior users clean carts after they're done. You have to grab a wipe or two from the dispenser by the cart corral in the store.

We have a dispenser as you walk in the front door of the store, you take the wipe and can wipe down whatever you want to in the cart.

We have these - when I'm not feeling so lazy, I walk to the store, and then I can just wheel my groceries home! ;) The kids like to put their backpacks in them when they walk to school. :thumbsup2

Ok, our store provides those wipes as you come in aAND go out the door. I use them both ways. I don't have little ones that sit in the cart but who knows what the kid before me did in that cart. On the way out I grab a wipe and push the cart with it in my hand and wipe it off when I am done with it. The ONLY reason I do this on returning it is because I always buy the loose peanuts for the squirrels to eat, they are sold in the bulk nut section, and I am afraid of peanut contamination on the cart handles. I have two friends with kids that have life threatening peanut allergies so I tend to be careful.

I thought all stores had the wipes provided like mine do. I always see people grabbing one and wiping the handle as they come in the store.

Um, no, I'd think you were lazy if you lived in a dirty house too.:confused3

I thought this was about shopping carts but we can always start a thread about those too lazy to clean their house. LOL!

The things people will find in order to make themselves feel superior.:sad2:

But hey, what ever floats your boat...to feel sanctimonous over cart parking is ludicrous and possibly speaks of self esteem issues, not to mention that anyone who says that they have ALWAYS returned a cart...nope, not believing it.

If you want to feel superior over cart returns, more power to you. Must be a very sad life to be sanctimonious over cart returns for gawd sake. People on occassion do not return carts and it is being made out to be up there with murder and torture. So many Jesus Christs running around the DIS board.:sad2:

And it is over the top sanctimonious and ludicrous to equate an occassional leaving of a cart out of a corral as laziness.

I or anyone else is not lazy just because on occassion we do not return carts.

But hey, if thinking that is true bolsters your sagging self esteem...:confused3

So, people who prefer that carts be returned to cart corrals lest they bang into cars are ludicrous, superior, sanctimonious "Jesus Christs" with sagging self esteem. Now we know :goodvibes.

Never said that people who prefer that carts be returned to cart corrals were those things. I said those that are calling people who sometimes do not return their carts as lazy people equal to murderers and rapists are those things. :thumbsup2

Who does not prefer that carts be returned? :confused3

My point is, that just not returning a cart on occassion is NOT lazy. So sorry you could not comprehend a simple statement.

I know you are but what am I?

In that thread about annoying things on the disboards, this was what I meant about a certain sort of *itchiness you don't see on other forums. Where else would there be over 400 posts about returning carts, with some people getting all superior about the way they do it and others trying for pages and pages to defend their way of grocery shopping. :lmao: (And I'm not excluding myself here--my Costco is dangerous dangit!)

You know, Mushy ... I might be all of those other things, but NO ONE could ever call me a "Jesus Christ" :rotfl2:

"I'm rubber you're glue. Whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you." Not directed at you :) ... I was just channeling Pee Wee Herman which is far than anything else on this thread :lmao:.

Why not mix in a little hyperbole while we're at it? No one said that a person who didn't return a cart was equal to a murderer or rapist. Get a grip.
