I don't think it's that people hate pool hoppers. It's just that, if you join a country club, you don't do that so you can associate with the caddy's. You choose what you like based on your lifestyle, not someone elses lifestyle.

No, you choose based on amenities. And who says if you are a member of a country club, you cannot befriend a caddy.

Wow, this went downhill quickly.

Let's see... Time to thread being locked...

Just kidding.

I don't know. It's a pretty harmless debate. I can't imagine getting that offended by anything anyone says about this. There's differences of opinion, and then there's right and wrong. This is just what's right, and what's wrong.

Accept if you are a caddy!!!!

I don't know - I wouldn't say they're meaningless. People have opinions about something, they have a right to discuss them. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

The thread really isn't about meaningful discourse. This guy likes pool hopping and he doesn't care who knows it or what they say. The cheerleader thread was started by someone who just wanted to say, "I hate cheerleaders at WDW." Again, not about discourse, just about venting and flaming.

I checked out other posts by the OP, and evidently they are quite a hit on the Camping board, as well :cool1: . So if any of you have a desire to meet up with the OP, just look for a couple in an RV, strolling around the campsites (out of the pet allowed areas of course, what's it gonna hurt?) with their doggie in a stroller :rotfl2: . Cause they go to WDW a lot, ya know. And go in the pools at other resorts, cause what's it gonna hurt? They paid a lot to park their RV, ya know.

I have a picture in my mind . . . . :rolleyes1

Being a DVC member, I dumped a pretty big amount of $ into Disney. That does give me the right to pool hop. However, I must call report first to see if pool is too crowded, I cannot do it durign high volume times and I cannot go to SAB or one other (AKL, I think). These rules are set up to avoid pool overcrowding. Yes, I'm sure you could always aqueeze a couple more people in teh pool. That dfoes not mean that you are not taking away from teh experience of someone who paid to be at that resort, though.

I hate to say it, but pool quality seems to be directly proportional to what you pay for the room in most cases.

Some of my dues does go to pool maintenance at DVC and other resorts in various ways. Paying for a room at one resort, paying admission or any other Disney spending does not pay for pool maintenance at another resort. Seeing as you do not get people in deluxes going to values for the most part, the money will never equal out. So, besides crowding pools, pool hoppers add to pool maintenance and will eventually cause room rates to go up at the "hopped to" resorts. You may say that one family wil not raise maintenance, but each person in the pool uses a little chlorine and causes some wear and tear. Multiply by everyone else who feels they're entitled to pool hop and that does add up.

We say in one Resort but we like the pools in other Resorts, But Disney and other people don't like pool hoppers. Want does it Hurt?

You already brought this up on the camping board, and they told you pool hopping was a no-no.

I haven't stayed onsite yet, but in staying in any hotel on vacation, I hope to be able to get in the pool if I can fit it into the vacation.

If I have just a couple of hours for pool time I always go early in the morning, and even then the pool can be crowded. Sometimes pools are so crowded as to be dangerous, so I won't go in at all. So there goes my only pool time for vacation.

One or two people could be the difference of my being able to get in at all.

You've paid a lot of money in the past at Disney, that does not give you the right to take something from someone else , who might have saved a long time for this trip. Try to be considerate of others.

I have read a lot of pool-hopping threads and, in a million years I could never understand the lure of going to another resort to swim in the pool!!

1) It takes a long time to go from one resort to another, or from a park to another resort. I don't have that kind of time on a WDW trip.

2) Isn't there enough to do in the parks!!?? That isn't exciting enough?

3) If I was looking for a resort stay with several great pools to swim in every day, WDW would not be my first destination choice.

4) I would feel bad about taking up space at a pool in a resort I didn't stay in, when there is very possibly a family who are on their only trip who would like to swim in the pool at the resort that they PAID to stay in!

LMAO!!!

But seriously...that's like stay on International drive at the Day's Inn and going next door and swimming in the Hilton's pool.

(Disney may "own it all"...but each resort/hotel is their OWN business)

what is wrong with this pool?

Sorry I didn't know this was a spelling test.

I think, in general, your posts are taken more seriously if you pay closer attention to grammar and spelling. The title of this thread really is a bit misleading.

That being said, I just don't understand it anyway. I don't ever, EVER, spend time at any pool at WDW. I can do that at home. I guess that's why I hardly ever read these pool-hopping threads.

I, too, am a DVC member and pool hopping doesn't appeal to me even a little. Who wants to make the trek from one resort to another and back being wet not to mention the amount of time it takes. We have gone to the Poly pool after leaving the MK to see it after it was redone, got a drink at the pool bar and sat in one of the swings on the beach for 1/2 hour but have never pool hopped. I'm curious though, if you've gone so often and so much more money than others, how come you aren't going again for four months?

It is obvious there are some that regardless of what any of us say, will do as they please. They are more into self gratification and will come up with any scenario to support their case.

Regardless of where we stay I don't pool hop. I did not pay for that right to swim in another resort's pool and to take something without paying for it, is wrong. You can try to justify it anyway you desire, but it is not right.

Whether it overcrowds the pool or not, is truly not the issue. If I need Sweet and Low I buy it, I don't stop at McDonald's on my home and help myself to theirs. Even though I am sure I could get away with it and I spend a lot of money eating there on a regular basis.

Even if I was staying at the Grand Floridian I would not feel I deserved to pool hop to any other pool including all moderates and values.

We are DVC and while it is a perk given to us as members that I paid for, I don't use it as I don't feel it is fair to those staying at that resort. If I am interested in the amenties of a resort, I book a stay there. It is actually very simple.

So, how many of you have ever been asked for your resort id while in the pool or pool area?

There are many times at the end of a day when my dh stays in the room while I take the children swimming. I do not bring a room key with me. I don't need it while at the pool. It's like leaving my credit card unattended and I don't want to do that!

Do you just leave your room key with charging priveleges sitting on the beach chair while you're swimming? Have any of you ever had a problem with that?

True.

You're bound to come across some of that on a public forum though. Not to sound rude, but if anyone doesn't like threads like this, they can just ignore it and not reply. Problem solved.
In Feb I specifically asked if any large groups would be staying @ the ASMovies when we stayed there in Feb. The answer was "No Ma'am". Of course, when we checked in, we were surrounded by hoards of loosely supervised cheerleaders & twirlers. Guess they must of decided to come on down in Jan.

Although I like the theming of the AS's, IMO the pools, dining, etc., are not adequate to handle the large amount of guests. Especially, when the AS guests pool hop (as they are entitled to). One of the main reasons we joined the DVC was to avoid this type of congestion. Additionally, one of the percs, subject to revocation at any time, is pool hopping.

Yes, life is short, enjoy it - but don't infringe upon my enjoyment either. Perhaps we should all book rooms and invite our entire extended family to join us, what's a few extra folks, WDW's a big place. While you're at it, bring your pets too (Loews says it's ok). Don't forget to book your MYW dining pkg and add on at least 3 phantom children; if all goes well you can still use the credits for your adult family members. Lastly, don't forget to take a few towel animals, great souvenier.

I'm off to work on my outline for a new WDW guide book, "The Cheater's Guide to WDW" should be a blockbuster! :bitelip:

Folks if someone it doing something that does not impact you life or vacation why worry about life is to short.

In fact it does impact my vacation, if you are taking up the last pool chair while using a pool at a resort that you are not paying for, it's not fair to my family that is paying the money to stay there.

Just follow the rules you want more, pay more..it's that simple
