Why do People Hate Pool Hoppers?

All Star guests can use all the pools at any All Star resort, as they are classified as one large resort. Same with Riverside and French Quarter.

This does not apply to the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian, or any other resort.

Question: If you are staying at the GF, are you allowed to pool hop to the POLY?
No, you are not.

How long has that been a rule. When I stayed at the GF in Aug'03, I was told that I could hop to any other pool (except YC/BC) since we were staying at a deluxe, you could pool hop to any resort at your level or below. Under that rule, a person at a MOD could hop to anyother MOD or Value, but not a Deluxe. Are you saying that this is not the case.

Nope.

To my knowledge, the only Disney Resorts that allow pool hopping are the All Stars. In other words, a guest of any of the All Star Resorts may use one of the pools at any of the other All Stars.

Actually...that's not totally true. If you are a DVC Member you are able to pool hop to any pool not at your resort with the exception of the AKL pool and SAB.

What would tend to cheese me off even more is those people who run down to the pool in the morning and leave their stuff on the chairs, but then go back to their rooms for another couple of hours. If you're not going to be swimming at that point, don't take up a chair that others could be using.

The only pool-hopping is among the All-Stars (I guess because they are all together) and between the 2 Port Orleans resorts.

DVC members are allowed to hop to SOME resort's pools.

You are not allowed to pool hop to other deluxe resorts if you are staying in a deluxe (first time I have heard that one!).

Who told you that you would be allowed to hop to the Poly pool? A TA or someone at WDW? In any case, they were wrong!

Again, why would anyone want to?!?!?!? The GF pools are very nice, enjoy them!

No. In fact I was just going to post this. I'm staying at the GF, conceirge no less, this October. I'm paying one of the highest room rates you can (the only thing higher would be a suite at GF).

AND IT STILL DOES NOT GIVE ME THE RIGHT TO POOL HOP!!!!!

The only people who CAN pool hop are DVC owners, and they pay $10,000 plus for the privilage, and STILL can't do it all all pools and/or all times of the year.

Look, stillh2o, you're going to do what you want to do, only the lifeguards at the pools or other CM's can stop you (and they will). But it's wrong. It's always going to be wrong as long as WDW has these rules in place. No amount of justifing is going to change that YOU are breaking WDW rules by pool hoping. Doesn't matte how much you spend, doesn't matter how often you go to WDW.

If you're okay with this, then that's on your concience, not anyone elses. And you'll never get us to agree with you.

I'm done on this thread...on to the next. Thread hoping is allowed, afterall! :wave2:

What? Never heard of that and I've stayed at FW.

Once in February of 2003, and once in January of 2004.

We'll see what happens this February. Maybe they don't do it all the time?

Why should I pay thousands of dollars to be a DVC member (not only for the accomodations, but also for the perks-pool hopping being one of them) so everyone else can do it? Should valet parking be free for everyone else? SHould Concierge level guests allow everyone to partake in their evening buffet or use their nice and fluffy robes? I don't mean to sound rude and I don't want to come across that way either. It really isn't fair for people paying tons of money to stay at the Deluxe Resorts or DVC Resorts to have to share their ammenities with people who ARE NOT paying for those ammenities. If you must pool hop, look into joining DVC...you can have all the perks and stay in deluxe accomodations for many, many years to come.

Also..DVC owners can pool hop to ANY Disney owned hotels (including the deluxes, moderates, and values) except for AKL and SAB. If you are at BCV you can go anywhere except AKL. I think next trip to WDW we will try out The Poly.

We say in one Resort but we like the pools in other Resorts, But Disney and other people don't like pool hoppers. Want does it Hurt?
If you want to pool hop stay at a resort with shared pools.
Guest at
the All Stars can share their pools. I can choose from 3 different themed pools :Surfs Up pool, Cylpso pool with Donald Duck and
the Fantasia pool with Mickey or I can choose from 3 different shaped
quiet pools.
POFQ and POR share their pools.
CBR has a theme pool and six quiet pools.
CSR has a theme pool and 3 quiet pools.
I choose All Stars.
Great pools :flower: wonderful buses :goodvibes
and those HUGE icons are pure Disney. :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I don't think it's that people hate pool hoppers. It's just that, if you join a country club, you don't do that so you can associate with the caddy's. You choose what you like based on your lifestyle, not someone elses lifestyle.

Ok, this is a mistake, no offense. I can tell you with authority that it's not the caddies staying at the All Star and (oh, what's the guy's name from Caddyshack?) the high rollers staying at the Grand Floridian.

The only difference in people staying at the GF and the AS is how much money they want to pay for that night and what amenities are valuable to them.

Where you stay in Disney has nothing to do with class or lifestyle. Not how much is in their bank account, not how much education they have, and definitely NOT if they raise their pinkies when they drink their tea.

We've been at barbecues with the biggest rednecks on earth bragging loudly to everyone how they paid 500/night to stay at the GF. We now call it the "Redneck Ritz" and haven't been able to bring ourselves to stay there.

The mistake people make is that thinking they can buy class or a lifestyle by pretending at Disney (or at home), and it's an illusion.

I think some of the people pool hopping are trying to 'pretend', perhaps the OP?

Poor doggie.

You still can't pool hop. Nor, for that matter, can you take your dog out of the pet areas, stroller or not.

Oh, I know you will - what's it gonna hurt, right? You're a big ole jerk, in my book, despite the doggie stroller - not just because you pool hop, but because you seem to not care at all that you are breaking rules. No, it doesn't ruin my vacation - you amuse me. I just point folks like you out to my kids, and use you as an example of low class behavior, to show my children how not to behave. Hey, and thanks for that :teeth: !

Either it's April 1st or you're speaking in code.

It is obvious there are some that regardless of what any of us say, will do as they please. They are more into self gratification and will come up with any scenario to support their case.

These are the same people who think the speed limit is just a "suggestion".... and get really ticked off when the police stop them for speeding. ;)

was the driver of the car a stranger who just happened to be turning around in your driveway uninvited (aka driveway hopping!)? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Well said. People who stay at GF are not better than I am because I choose to stay at Pop to save money. I've got my Masters degree-- I'm not an uneducated hick.
