Why do people hate MVMCP

We want to take our friends to the MVMCP on Nov 28th has anyone out there gone on a Sun? Is it less crowded than a Fri or about the same?

For the past 4 years we have been going around that same date. IMO it's not that crowded because people are usually leaving from the Thanksgiving break and it's right before the start of the Christmas Show taping. Crowds leave after the fireworks lines are short for the rides we usually get to stay on splash mtn at least 3 times straight.

I don't hate it but I won't go. Too expensive and too crowded.

I don't hate the event nor have I seen anyone else say they "hate" it. But I have to agree with many here that the event has become more and more expensive while delivering less and less. We probably won't go this year unless it turns out Disney has made some major changes to the event. The last few years, the parade, the fireworks, the shows ... they've all been exactly the same. No changes. No updates. Well, there was a change last year: less decorations and ambience. We did like the new show last year that replaced Night Before Xmas (sorry for those who liked it and miss it -- I loved it but after seeing it several years in a row, I knew it by heart and preferred something NEW).

When we used to go years back it cost much less (a good value for half a day, in other words), included free photos, free buttons, good cookies and was much less crowded.

Disney needs to get the pricing under control or else deliver a better experience with the promised lower crowds and some updates to the events. Just my opinion and why we probably won't attend this year. If I'd never been before, however ... I would most likely go.

For our dates, the same parade runs in the afternoons we are there (the week leading up to Christmas) and of course this is also the heaviest MVMCP sold-out attendance parties, so admittedly people attending earlier could add the parade viewing perk to their $60, too and not necessarily find wall to wall people and the need to get to shows an hour early to find a spot.

But for us, it's just not worth it any more.

Thank you - you just solved this issue for me! We're going November 28-December 5th, and I've been going back and forth on whether or not we really want to spend the extra cash for the party. My kids (DS6 and DD4) are young anyway, and have a tough time staying up too terribly late, especially after even just a half day at the parks (know from experience!), so I just didn't think I could justify it. But if the parade happens during the day, that's good enough for me. We'll head over to catch Osborne lights at HS another evening for the snowflakes. :D

It happens during the day, BUT NOT UNTIL AFTER the last MVMCP for the year which is around Dec 18-19th..If those are the dates you are going , the ONLY way for you to see the holiday parade and holiday wishes is to go to MVMCP

Last party is 12/19. Parade starts during the day 12/20.

The only negative I have about MVMCP is that they no longer show the Mickey's Night Before Christmas show. I don't miss the button or free photo. This may be the last year we do the party, but only because DH wants to start traveling at another time of year and switch things up a bit.

I don't hate it, but the crowds are so high that it is not as enjoyable as it once was. EMH is usually more managable. As a matter of fact, it is like an evening EMH with special fireworks and parade.

If there are some guests that hate MVMCP it's because of all the nights when the Magic Kingdom closes at 7:00 PM to accomodate the party and those who decided to purchase tickets to it, because they don't like it when the Magic Kingdom closes that early during that time of year.

We went to our first MVMCP last December and had a blast. We went during the week, which I am sure is why it wasn't too crowded. Like you, we loved everything about it. Now fast forward to just a week ago....we went to our first ever MNSSHP (which by the way, everyone that I talked to before hand said it is much better than the Christmas Party) and even though I did enjoy myself, I'd much prefer the Christmas Party. Even my DH who is really not that into any of the hard ticketed events said that he would do the Christmas party again before doing the Halloween Party.

I do think that HATE was the wrong word to use. I have just read many posts the last couple of months and people have very little good things to say about it. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. So I am sorry for using the word HATE. It is nice reading everyones view on it, be it good or bad.

...I just don't think it's worth the money, time and aggravation to go anymore. Everyone should try it once just to see it, but the way the prices are going, you'll be paying the same as a one-day admission ticket in four years.

I didn't hate MVMCP, but I don't know that we'd do it again. It was nice, the parade and snow were fun, but other than that, it just didn't have the "worth the money" feel for me.

However, MNSSHP I LOVE. The whole atmosphere in the park changes.

We have annual passes. I don't want to pay for an extra ticket, when I can basically see all the Christmas decorations during the day or on a night when there is no MVMCP.

We went twice last December and liked it so much we are going 3 times this December. Very lovely and enchanting with manageable crowds when we went. To each his own and your mileage may vary I guess. :)

I didn't hate it until they started having SO MANY of them. They even do them on Friday nights now. Closes down MK--the most popular of parks--too many nights to people who purchase tickets or AP holders. Just think it's way too many nights.

I also don't like how many cuts have gone on (pins, pictures, etc.) while they've raised the prices so much. Just isn't worth it any longer.

I'd be quite happy if they had a couple of night a week (not a weekend night) rather than the amount of parties they run now. I don't have to go but I understand why others may want to go. However, why should it interfere with so many others' time in the park so often?

I agree people seem to want it so they are buying it. However, people wanted mortgages all of these last 5-10 years but look where that got us...

Last year we went for 7 nights and the MK closed for parties 5 nights of it.

I don't know anyone who hates it and have never read that anyone does.

Hate it? No. But I do think it's way overpriced for what you get. Compare it to mnsshp and it borders on rip off.

Plus It seems like more and more are added further diminishing the days MK is open past 7 on days in December which is an annoyance... Essentially to spend the whole day you need to spend a ton.

Good points.

We LOVE halloween at the parks - we will NEVER pay the price for christmas again. The price is way out of line with what you get. And the crowds - oh the crowds!
