I have gone in 2006 the first week of December twice. We loved it. The crowds were low, ride lines were short or none at all, characters were all dressed in hoilday clothes, the snow on Main Street was wonderful, and the cookies and hot chocolate, I could go on and on. Am I just in love with Disney, or do people just not get the magic of Christmas at Disney:confused3:confused3 We are going back this year for the first party on Nov. 8th and I could not be anymore excited.

It has nothing to do w/ not getting the magic of Christmas at Disney. It's precisely that that keeps us coming back at that time of year again and again. :goodvibes I think those of us that have now decided against going have different reasons, but ours is that there are no longer low crowds. Or if you are lucky to get them, you are LUCKY. All it took is for one elbow to elbow, crowded experience the last time we went to get us to swear off of going unless we are there that day and don't see it sold out. I agree, that low crowds and the party are PURE magic!!! But the grumbling you are hearing is not from people unable to appreciate that magic, it's that when you are wall to wall people (*sses to elbows), it's hard to see. :crowded::crowded:

I think you have to consider the fact that this is a hard ticket event. Even MNSSHP doesn't fill the park except close to or on Halloween itself. Part of the attraction to these hard ticketed events is that there are limited amounts of tickets sold (how limited, who knows?) thus the parks shouldn't be packed.

The fact that MVMCP may have had low attendance probably isn't a reflection of hte party as much as attendance in general, thus less people who are willing to purchase the hard tickets.

Understandable. 4 years ago it was wonderful, but I understand that things change and more people go to these kind of hard ticket events. I was just wondering what had happen since I went last. Thanks for your side of it. I saw another thread that someone started asking if they should go, and no one had anything wonderful to say to them. I just found that a little weird

I don't know anyone who hates it and have never read that anyone does.

Since you went it has gotten really expensive and really crowded. They have also cut back on the decorations. Last year they did not even have up the tree on Main Street, they waited until after they had recorded the Christmas Parade. So many parties missed out on this very special tree.

For me, it is because I remember what it USED to be. There have been so many cutbacks along with larger crowds and higher ticket prices that it is just no longer worthwhile for us.

I went to MVMCP last year in December and loved it.

It wasn't crowded AT ALL on the night we went. We either walked right on to the rides, or had no more than a 10 minute wait.

We didn't go to any other parks on the day that we were scheduled to go to MVMCP. We just waited till 4pm, and went to the MK. Even if I couldn't get in at 4pm, and just went from 7-midnight, I'd still go.

Oh gosh! YES! If it still was what it was years ago, I'd be beating down the doors to go! I'm not quite sure of all the cutbacks becuase we actually didn't do a lot other than the parade and rides (not even the cookies and cocoa)... but no tree?!?!?:mad::mad: BAD Christmas juju! For us as I said, it's the crowds that became the deal breaker. :guilty:

The last time we went, we went twice in one week. Once on Tuesday and it was mind-bendingly WONDERFUL! Low crowds. Then we went on a sold out Friday. Holy @#$%^!!!!!! 2 opposite experiences 3 days apart.

We are attending our first MVMCP on Nov. 16th. We are super excited. I am not really worried about what I read about party opinions. I have noticed if someone has a comment that is less than positive about their MVMCP experience because they have been to many party events & miss the good old days(one out of many reasons but I see that comment a lot). This our very first special ticket event. We usually visit in June, I am happy I will be able to stand in the middle of MK & not sweat. This trip was not planned for this year. We are at WDW during a holiday season:banana::wizard: Have fun on Nov. 8th!

What week did you go in December last year?

I would love to go sometime for the MVMCP because my birthday is December 8th and I think it would be great fun to go to WDW for my birthday! :yay:

We went to MVMCP last year for the first time and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Viewing the castle lit up Christmas style with snow falling on Main Street, was indeed magical. We went early in December and I think it was a Tuesday and there was a quite a crowd on Main Street, but the rest of the park was pretty thin. All the rides were walk-on and we were able to ride one 3 times without getting off. That was cool. So maybe the key is going early to mid-week and before the holiday rush hits. :confused3

However, I do have to say that while we were there I struck up a conversation with a lady who said she's been going for several years. She was a little bummed and said each year they take away something else. When she first started going, each person got a free button pin, a free 5x7 photo, plus the hot cocoa and cookies. So from her perspective I can see why it's no longer as magical as it first was. Several years later she's paying more and getting a lot less.

Besides all the stuff, I think the real draw of these parties for people are the crowds. If you know there are going to be fewer people at such an event, you tend to be willing to pay a little more money because you know the park will be more enjoyable.

As for us, we're contemplating going to the party on Nov. 11th. Haven't bought any tickets yet and we'll probably decide when we get there. To the OP have a magical party:wizard:

It's more expensive than ever, and more crowded than ever. They need to sell fewer tickets to make it worthwhile IMO.

A agree with all of the above. That said, I don't hate or dislike it and I would do it again.

But I wouldn't feel terrible if I didn't do it again, either.

My first MVMCP was in 2005 - and we were there the week after Thanksgiving - I can not remember which night......

anywho - the crowds were very low and by 10:30 the park was practically empty. We actually left the party early because we had done everything and really had no reason to stay because the rides were all walk on......and we had already rode everything that was open, saw the parade, the fireworks, etc.

I LOVED it.....it was so nice. My only complaint was that it was in the mid 60's and being from Indiana it did not quite feel like Christmas because it was not bitterly cold....:rotfl:

Needless to say we are going on 12/3 this year and it will be my husband's first MVMCP - so I am excited to share it with him......although I am slightly concerned about crowds that night with Pop Warner and the Christmas taping that weekend.

But, we are going to wait out the crowds and stay until the end with the hope that as the party draws to an end things will lighten up. At this point in time - I would say that I see no reason to miss it - but let's see how I feel on 12/4 once I have had something to compare it to. :santa:

We did it last year for the first time during the first week of December. We had fun doing it, but I will say for me it is now a BTDT experience and I wouldn't pay to do it again. I am glad that we did it at least once though.

I went to MVMCP last in 2007, but I'm planning to go again next year. We try to rotate the Halloween and Christmas parties, but we're doing Halloween again this year. I'm a Christmas person, so I wouldn't miss the Christmas Party if I were going to be there in November or December. Crowded or not, it's still so magical!

i don't hate it...i just prefer MNSSHP. I, too, feel BTDT and don't know if I'd go again. No time soon.

I don't hate it! I actually really enjoyed it last December. However, unless it was free (which it will never be..) I don't think I'd go again. It was cool to see the holiday fireworks show, and the parade and the dance party, but it was crowded and overpriced for what you get. The "free" hot cocoa and cookies are a nice touch though. Definitely something you should do at least once.

We're going for the first time this year. Hopefully its not too crowded! I need to try everything once!
