Why Do People Get Married On The Beach?

My youngest is 10. She already talks about her wedding. She hates big and fancy and is planning on jeans, and a pig roast--Yay for our wallet

not so much yay for our wallet when Disney is involved. But at least she will have a very memorable and lovely wedding. Small though. Very small. Can't imagine to many people who will be able to afford to go.

OP I don't like any kind of outdoor wedding beach or not. I have ADD when I'm outside. I can't remember the details of ANY outdoor wedding I have ever been too because it goes something like this:

"Dearly beloved" OH! A butterfly....
"We are gathered here today" What's making that buzzing sound?
"In the sight of God," Cause it better not be a bee, I hate bees.....
"Family, and Friends" Man its hot out here.....
"To witness the union" Is there a mosquito on my leg?.....
"Of this man and woman" The ocean is too loud, I can't hear.....

and so on and so forth. I am always bummed when we get an invite to an outdoor wedding.

I forgot to mention that the older one wants the deluxe disney wedding, and seems to think that we will be able to pay for ALL the guests who want to come--Dream on kid

I just checked high-tide. It is for 2 pm. Wedding is at 4:00.

I think that Farmer's Almanacs should be a required gift as soon as someone gets engaged. So helpful for things like what you looked up!

My neice got married this past June. In SC. Outside. Umm, it is oppressively HOT outside in June in SC. This wasn't on the beach with a breeze either but being 98 degrees a breeze would have felt like a heater anyway. DD was in the wedding and proceeded to faint right before the pronouncement of man and wife. She completely blacked out for about 5 min- seemed like an hour. After that DD told me she would never have an outdoor wedding. Anywhere. We'll see.

See I am finding myself planning my outfit around my shoes, or shall I say sandals (that will be kicked off). So that means no cocktail dress for me, now it must be a casual dress. And DH thinks he is wearing a sport coat, and I said..."a sport coat, nice pants and bare feet?" I think he should wear khakis and a tropical print shirt, bare feet will look better with that.

I think a beach wedding would be lovely in a different area of the country, and not during hurricane season. Just asking for trouble in New England in late August. I just checked high-tide. It is for 2 pm. Wedding is at 4:00.

With high tide, surge, high surf warnings on sunday on the south facing and outer cape....she may not have a beach to get married on.

I don't think I'd ever plan an event larger than a family picnic outside. The weather is too unpredictable.

We live in New England and after seeing a few beach weddings as a young girl, I had my heart set on having one too. Then I wised up and thought that between the constant breeze and the sticky salt air, it wasn't romantic as I had imagined it to be. It just didn't seem like it would be comfortable so we had an outdoor wedding a few miles inland instead. We had a back-up location in case of bad weather, but luckily the weather gods shined down and gave us a perfect sunny, 75 degree day!

OP - I hope, for your sake and theirs, that the happy couple has a back-up plan. The air is already so humid, I can't imagine how bad it will be be when the hurricane actually gets here.

It wouldn't happen to be in Falmouth would it? Someone on another board I frequent was talking about how her sister is having a beach wedding in Falmouth on Sun and is freaking out!

Well. Disney does advertise that it is the place where dreams come true. can't make them out to be liars, can you?
