Why do people do this?!

Is it annoying to other people when we go on splash mountain and scream when we go down the big hill where they take the picture? I do not want to be one of *those* people.

I'd feel like a jerk if we'd been ruining the ride for others :guilty:

There's a level of fear going down that hill; it's normal to scream or yell or, in my case, laugh...

But if you were screaming in the queue, or inside the ride when not going down one of the little hills...then that's just ridiculous.

My poor SIL screamed her head off the first time she went on TOT and I let out little yelps...that's normal. Screaming while the CM is giving his spiel...that's not normal. That'll ruin it for ya.

A large group of girls did this on TOT to my family and they thought they were so cool. Well they had talked about posing for their picture in line...they ended up in the 2nd row behind my husband and family. My entire family put their arms up on the ride (do everytime anyway) but they happened to block the loud obnoxious kids behind them and ruined their picture. It was sweet. I also get extremely annoyed when people do this. I dont get it. Just want to smack them.

I think that's awesome! :thumbsup2 Serves 'em right.

One time at WDW, there was a "spirited" group in front of us in line for Tower of Terror. They were all dancing and chanting "Hollywood" over & over for some reason. As luck would have it, we ended up in the same elevator as them. The chanting continued throughout the ride & got about 4X louder. Totally ruined the ride for us. A few people complained to the CM there & got to ride again. I would have ridden again if I hadn't had a splitting headache at that point. :headache:

Young locals will sneak in liquor all the time, it's pretty easy.

And Haunted Mansion is always a popular ride late at night to get high on. Once, some teens in a buggy next to me on a very empty Haunted Mansion started smoking once they left the station. They came prepared with air freshener. CMs don't really care, it happens all the time on HM.
One night we went to go on HM (my ALL time fav ride) and about 20 drunk college kids arrived in the stretching room (it was no wait walk in) and we knew trouble was pending.
We went straight for the "door" and as soon as it opened bolted for the buggy loading area. We got on first and went going. Then when we got to the ballroom scene we stopped. (now of all places to stop this is a pretty darn good spot) and then when we got off the ride we saw security and the guys having a "chat". They didn't actually spoil the ride because they weren't right behind us and didn't cause an evac but they did spoil the stretching room.

a while back we were at 6 flags and the father and kids behind us starting doing that on a roller coaster before we even left the the station. My 7 year old who has never been scared of a coaster looked at me and asked if he was supposed to be scared. The screaming of the people upset my son more than the ride.

Really upset me.

I have a bit of a contrary story:

My group got on an elevator for Tower of Terror and as soon as the doors closed these two tough-looking Hispanic guys grabbed and hugged each other like Scooby and Shaggy do when they're scared. They did a little bit of scared moaning, and one of the guys said, "I just want you all to know that I'm a screamer. And a cryer." Then the ride started and the thing was, they did neither. We all enjoyed the ride.

Those guys made a joke in front of some strangers and got a laugh, but then they ended it so we all could enjoy the ride. People who scream through the entire ride think they're being cool and clever, and they enjoy having everyone pay attention to them. These guys actually accomplished all of that without ruining anything for anyone.

People who scream are just the very stupid, witless version of those two guys.

I have been going to DL since I was a baby and the screaming in the stretching room is a fond memory. I remember being scared "just" because they were screaming. :)
When I took dd, I had to explain to her that people were gonna scream, but they were just playing.

People are stupid. That is my explanation for all the annoying crap people do at DLR.

However, The Screamers take a second place to the people who take flash pictures in POTC and HM. Those are the people I would like to grab by the collar and throttle. On the opening day of HM on 9/25 the guy in the carriage in front of me must have taken 30 flash pictures during the ride. If you are one of the people that do this, I hate you with a passion and I am not afraid to say it. :)

I would go on about people with double wide strollers, but I'll stop there before I piss anyone off.

I seriously think people do it to show off. Look, "Ohhhhh! I know ALL the words to the ToT/HM/fill-in-the-blank preshow so that must mean I'm really cool."

I find it super annoying.

ok well I have something to say about that one....I do know all the words to both TOT and HM and I do say some of them but not because I think im cool but because preboarding is always so boring to me so I have to do something while waiting...but I see where you are coming from so I will at least only mouth it instead of saying it BUT....when it comes to THIS ROOM HAS NO WINDOWS AND NO DOORS...Im sorry but I have to yell that one out HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....:rotfl2:

Years ago we were on PoC when a bunch of teens started rocking the boat side to side. Just as I yelled at them to "Knock it off",the boat stopped and rose up slighly. Then the voice of God spoke,"You 'will' stop that now". The rest of the boat clapped at that. :thumbsup2

Ha! I love that story.....

I was on Space with my 7 year old son in June and the two people behind us (one adult, one preteen child) screamed the whole time. The adult was right behind me and it felt she was screaming directly into my ear, it was so painful. I couldn't hear the soundtrack at all. That was our last ride on Space on the trip. If I had known we might have been able to ride again, I would have said something to a CM. It just ruins the ride experience for others. I actually turned around during the ride and yelled at them to stop yelling in my ear (the whole glare thing doesn't work on a dark ride) and they quieted down a bit after that.

I really can't add much to this thread that has not already been said. But I agree. I hate it when people scream like idiots on rides.

When I was on my solo august trip, I rode POTC with a boat load of what seemed college boys. I think they may even been apart of some Christian Men's Group or something... but anyway, I digress. I got stuck in a full boat of these guys after the rude CM insisted there was enough room for my fat (intentionally left blank for dramatic purposes) to squeeze into the last row with three other large jockish guys.

As the ride progressed, the three young men I was sitting with (a bunch of pretty boy, Abercrombie wearing, jocks) Proceeded to make some very rude comments, (with small children in the front of the boat, mind you.) and one particularly flamboyant one screamed at the top of his lungs whenever he got a little wet. In fact he loudly complained about it for the entire ride. As we were pulling up the lift in the end, I could not take anymore. I turned to him and asked him "Is it all water that turns you into a snivelling (intentionally left blank for dramatic purposes) or just this water?" Well, after my blowup, he and his friends kept quiet until we got off the boat.

:lmao: I enjoyed reading this story!

Last night my wife and I went to DL to ride Ghost Galaxy and Haunted mansion...it was our first time at DL during the halloween overlay.
I LOVED both rides...but I have a complaint that I have noticed more and more when we go...but was in OVERDRIVE last night!!!

As Space Mountain "ghost galaxy" was starting the 3 GROWN WOMEN behind us started screaming at the top of their lungs!!! They continued to do so although nothing was happening yet...(and by nothing happening I mean we were just turning the corner from the station) even though I gave them the "turn around and scowl" 2 times...of course this still continued through the entire ride!!! I couldn't hear the soundtrack for the ride and when I left the car my ears were ringing!!! The women who were then in front of us on the way out of the ride were giggling and saying "Did you hear how loud we were! HAHAHAHAHA!!!"

I LOVE DL and Halloween, but people need to be considerate of others!!! It ruined the experience for me! My ears rang ALL NIGHT!!! :headache:
that happens to us all the time when we ride ToT at the studios. We get stuck with bunches of loud brazilian teens who feel the need to scream throughout the whoile thing!!!!!

It sounds like the same dudes who were on my POTC boat in August! It was pretty much exactly the same...one loudly made rude/crude comments about my hair (which was turquoise/green at the time) and the other one screamed like a little girl having a temper tantrum meltdown any time there might have even been a tiiiiiiny chance of a few drops of water getting on him. :sad2:

I'm glad you said something to them! I restrained myself, for fear of saying something that'd get me kicked out of the Park and/or my mouth washed out with soap by Disney Security.

my mouth washed out with soap by Disney Security.

What a lovely souvenier that would be. People pay hundreds of dollars to stay in Disney hotels to get the free Mickey soap, and here is Disney giving it away to you for free.

That is so annoying, and with that happening on Ghost Galaxy, it's hard for you to just get back in line and do it over. Depending on the time of day and crowds, you have to wait a long time to do it again. Someone screamed right in my ear in HM elevator and my ear was so sore. It's unnecessary and very rude. Once in recent times, the HM elevator came to the bottom and there was dead silence. It was the best time I ever rode it.
