I've always wondered that one too.

LOL! I have to admit, on my first trip to DL this summer, It was all about comparing. Overall I didnt compare the entire resorts. Thats comparing apples and oranges. I think both are very magical, just each in their own way.
But in comparing a lot of attraction vs attraction, DL usually won out.

But I agree, I think comparing the whole resorts is just not possible. While they are similar, they are 2 totally different experiences.

Walt relised hid limitations at DL and would never let that happen at WDW but in that bigger picture some of the smaller details were also enlarged.
I love WDW and all it has to offer but also would jump at a chance to go back to Dl for whatever excuse I can think of.

I suppose it's just a natural thing to do, given the general similarities. What's interesting is how different people perceive the parks. I've heard and read so often from folks who grew up on Disneyland just how much more special it is. Earlier this year when checking in at the Disneyland Hotel, I asked the CM had she ever been to WDW. Very quickly she responded, "yes, but our park is 10 times nicer than their Magic Kingdom." Many folks are strongly in defense of their California park - even, as the CM did, believing it to be better in multiples than the Central Florida version.

This being primarily a website dedicated to WDW, one can expect some people to question this notion, or defend the park with which they are familiar. And, the question is often prompted by first time visitors to one location who are interested in the similarities and differences.

I love both MK and Disneyland and while I find Disneyland to hold an edge in the overall comparison, I don't give it the landslide victory that many do.

Definitely a natural thing to do. I like both parks for different reasons. I compared a lot this past week because it was the first time I'd been to both places in the same year. Normally, I only go once every other year so I really don't compare much on those trips. I don't think of comparing as a bad thing either. Gives other visitors an idea of what to expect.

I agree that the inclination is too strong to resist! But the result is like deciding which of your children you love the most.....hopefully impossible ! You can decide which traits you like in each, but your heart is big enough to love both !

As an entire resort experience, WDW is better because they have a lot of non-park activities (water skiing, hayride, fishing excursions, spas, etc.). But for a strict park to park comparison, I definitely prefer Disneyland over the Magic Kingdom.

However, for the resort experience, I like the way you can walk out of the park and be in your hotel room in less than ten minutes at DLR. Sometimes things are just TOO spread out at WDW.

DLR and WDW are different, and my heart is big enough to love them both for their differences.
